Why do picks require combat?

The update says you can make masterwork armour just through Mining and Smithing, no bossing required!

But, to get the ores, you need a level 90 pick.

To get a level 90 pick, you need an imcando pick.

To get an imcando pick, you have to have a dragon pick.

To get a dragon pick, you have to do combat, unless there is some other way to get one I don't know about.

I don't see why a pickaxe needed for a non combat skill should require combat to obtain. It bothers me.

So now basically I can't start the new Mining and Smithing update until I spend about a month killing things to get a horribly rare drop dragon pick, and then get it gilded, because I'm not paying for a dragon pickaxe I didn't know I was going to need to upgrade my crystal pickaxes.

And since I need one for my toolbelt and one to augment, that means I need two for each account, so a total of six dragon pickaxes.

This is the same reason I quit ironman, its impossible to get high level skilling tools without combat, and I hate combat, and I'm not going to pay inflated prices to but a pickaxe.

Its just really annoying having skilling locked behind quests and combat.

I might have known dragon pickaxes/Imcando Pickaxes were required if Jagex had run the beta at a time NOT concurrent with in game events that had to be done at the same time, I had no time to do both the in game event AND the beta, so I am totally caught off guard with this frustrating news that my previously best in game pickaxes are no use now, and can't be upgraded to be augmented without dragon pickaxes I don't have.

I was looking forward to the update, but I should have known Jagex would do something to make it reward and require combat and ruin it for pure skillers or players who don't like combat. They always find a way to make skillers unable to progress without combat.

You can also get them from crystal triskelion keys or the motherlode maw. Or spend a little GP. You don't have to do combat.

I have to do combat if I don't want to buy one, which yes I could buy one but won't on principle, or if I don't want to depend on my always bad RNG which has never given me a dragon pickaxe from triskelion keys or the motherlode maw, which I do on 2 accounts and have never gotten one, and I've never gotten one from drops either despite killing the things that can drop them, so I don't know why I even think I will be able to get any from drops other than sheer stubbornness and determination not to buy one.

But that is my choice, I'm not going to buy one at the currently inflated prices, so I'll try to get six of them from drops. If I don't get them from drops, maybe after prices drop in a few months if ever I might buy some, but I'll try combat for now. And if I don't like that, maybe I'll catch Implings to sell get some.

Or maybe I'll get a Hazelmere's ring and sell it, because the way my RNG goes, I'll either get nothing of value or get something worth over 2 billion GP maybe.

u dont want to buy one but you dont want to kill things for one and you dont want to rely on RNG for one?

then your a wazzok basically arnt you lol

how about you pull your head out your arse lol

50% or rs is rng, its a thing, deal with it or quit

I already said I'm going to kill things because I don't want to buy any. What I really want is to not have to do combat at all to get skilling tools, and to be able to make skilling tools through skilling, not combat, but that's not an option, is it? You have to kill things to get a dragon pickaxe or buy them, you can't get them through skilling, and yes I find that irritating.

The RNG I was talking about was for the Motherlode maw or Triskelion keys, the chances of getting a dragon pickaxe from either of those is so low its not likely to happen, so you can't count it as a way to get a dragon pickaxe reliably.

I have literally never gotten a dragon pickaxe from any method other than buying one, but at least through combat there is a better chance of getting one than from Triskelion keys or the Motherlode maw, although its still pretty low odds.

With my RNG, if it takes 3 or 4 hours for the average person to get a dragon pick drop, I expect it will take me more like 12 to 24 hours, because that is just how my RNG has mostly been in this game. But whatever, I'll pick up the other drops and sell them to get one from the GE if I don't get one as a drop in a reasonable amount of time. I might not like the idea of buying one, but I will if it takes too long to get one as a drop, or to get six as drops since I will need that many for my three characters I want them for.
