Everyone said they hated Menophos so Jagex decided nah.

If only they realised it was mostly because of the crap reputation system grind

People disliked Menaphos but I believe the main reason why expansions were cancelled was because players prefer the traditional weekly/ monthly updates rather then waiting months for a large batch of content.

However even though 2018 was supposed to go back to that format we haven’t gotten much of anything in the way of content this year... Despite the increase in membership prices as well. Side projects like RS mobile I suspect are taking up too much resources.

You probably don't want expansions... or they may be $15 each. :D

I don't play wow that game is dying because you have to buy every expansion. However it's still popular because you get 50 characters per account. If they sell expansions here this game will probably die out quickly.
Look deep down inside.

"Dying", that game just hit a new peak subscriber count with the release of BFA.

Jagex doesn't have the number of devs to pull off expansions in a timely fashion.

Priff and The Arc were brought out in 2 batches. True, it made things a little weird. But, each batch release still had a massive amount of stuff to do.

The failure of the Slayer + Menaphos batch release was they tried to do too much at once.
On top of that, they pulled in other devs to help polish it by adding even MORE.

So for the first half of 2017, their devs were so heavy on Menaphos and Slayer, when they tried to do the Invention expansion, they were way behind schedule to try to do that by Sept-Oct. So they scrapped the expansion model and went back to their older development model of trying to do ninja to small sized updates on a regular basis and medium to the occasional large on an intermittent basis.
They crippled their own development work for the rest of 2017 and into 2018.

If they had done Menaphos and Slayer separately, they might have been able to keep the expansion release model going for longer.
Are you questioning my insanity or my incompetence?

WoW isn't dyeing by any means. It still has 8m to 10m people playing daily.

As for why expansion were canceled, it was because we went 5 months without a single update. We had small things here and there, but thats it. In that 5 month period, they still weren't ready to release everything when they were supposed to. Thing were delayed yet again. People hated it everything being low level.

And then when they did get things out, people hated the quests because they were too short. They hated the content because it was low level. And they hated the grind to finish the book and get rep.

Not only that, but the rest of the year suffered because of Menaphos. Because of the expansion. 2017 was the WORST year in Runescape History for updates. And they are still suffering this year.

They had 5+ months, and they still failed to deliver.
Come the Sixth-Age, the world will need the World Guardian.

I know I'm in the minority, but I could do with LESS content added and more QOL stuff. Fix existing content without recreating it like Mining and Smithing.

I used to know this game like the back of my hand and now its just too much to have a life and stay on top of all the changes. And I still play almost every day.
