Introduction

This thread discusses the possibility for Burthorpe to serve as a hub for minigames. The concept of a minigame hub was proposed in the RuneScape Survey 2018 and associated in-game poll.

Summary

- Minigame hub in Burthorpe
- More utility for Burthorpe
- New and experienced players brought together
- More community engagement
- Higher retention of new players

Why Burthorpe?

Burthorpe is an ideal location for a minigame hub for several reasons. First, it can be accessed by all players regardless of membership, skill levels, or quest completion. Second, the town is often associated with minigames, as it is the location of Troll Invasion and the Burthorpe Games Room and former location of the Rogues’ Den. Finally, Burthorpe and its neighbor to the south, Taverley, offer little practical value for experienced players and often isolate beginners as a result.

Benefits

The advantages of a minigame hub in Burthorpe would be profound. Such a hub would appeal to both new and experienced players and encourage both types of players to interact with each other. It would also boost new player retention by helping new players to integrate into the community. These increases in community engagement and player retention are integral to the health and longevity of RuneScape.

You do know we have an existing minigame hub, it makes a lot more sense adding the rest there than moving it to burth.

Gamers' Grotto, just North of falador.

But gamers grotto only has a couple of the minigames. Ever since the first beach event

I have had hopes for such a hub. Seeing it on the poll really got me excited.

Burthope be perfect as even a new or returning player has that lodestone open.

Cant wait to see if and when they do implement this.
The richest person is not who has the most. It is who Needs the least.

So? Bruthrope games room only has 1 (the game room) while gamers grotto already has more minigames than that and is already called a minigame hub. It has all the same perks as Burthrope would if not a bit more.

yeah but gamer's grotto is a dumb hole in the ground. Remove it too and add its minigames to the games room.

Game room is the same thing but just called a basement.

This is a bad idea. It's easy enough to get to every minigame right now. Games Necklace and Ring of Dueling bring us to most minigames and PvP content. We have too much convenience as it is. Lodestones make walking/running pointless, so you only ever see players at their desired destinations or close to it, never in transit. Anyone else miss making a new friend on the road? Teleport spells are mostly useless as well, with very few exceptions, and many teleport items have lost their purpose too, so basically we've already seen convenience being replaced with laziness. Having everything consolidated just sucks the life out of the game.

We have lodestones that can be used an UNLIMITED number of times, a vast number of teleport items(some of which bring us right to various minigames), and a healthy variety of spells(most of which are pretty much never used these days). We really don't need MORE ease of access.

Also, nobody really plays minigames anymore. They are all but dead. And it isn't because they're too difficult to get to. You talk of new players mingling with high level players, but that just won't happen, at the very least this idea won't achieve that goal. I'm all for ending the segregation that is present in the game, but this isn't the solution. Most PvP minigames are combat-based, not to mention P2P-exclusive. Most P2P players are far from new. Putting all of the minigames in Burthorpe isn't going to make a new player buy membership so they can play Mobilising Armies, or Pest Control, or Castle Wars with more experienced players. And if they do, they will become frustrated as they are crushed to bits by the higher leveled, more experienced players, and quit.

Want to bring the community together again? Remove the GE from Prif/Max Guild, limit Lodestone usage to some reasonable amount per day, and maybe add some Mentor system to give "elite" players some incentive to play with the "noobs". Putting every minigame in Burthorpe won't cut it.

EDIT: Typos
Why RS Mobile is a stupid idea
