we are basically getting 1 single update thats new content AND permanent AND has functionality/game play, and thats the grand exchange that hardly anyone uses being consolidated into one booth..

dimension of the damned, Halloween event + charity "collect crap for cosmetic crap" are all temporary content with cosmetic only rewards

twitch link is perm content (sort of) with cosmetic rewards (the cosmetic rewards basically being the entirety of the new content)

count check and novtumber fest have usable rewards (if u care about xp and free spins), but are time limited (and probably reused) content

more stuff for free to play is always good for attracting new players, but again, its not new content

seriously disappointed

this year has been the most face palm year of updates ever, and it seems jagex is determined to keep it up

I wouldn't exactly call that new content either. We already have a fully functional grand exchange so changing it from 4 booths to a single central booth isn't adding anything to the game. It's purely cosmetic.

The DOTD really caught my eye, but if its not permanent then that's a pure letdown....

free to play updates might just be the best update overall IMO...

Better off changing thread title to this year tbh, it's been the worst in the game's existence, and I don't expect much from 2018 either, but we'll see.

Agreed. It's disappointing to see, really.

I think we have had 3 quests this year not including content that came with Menaphos. It really has been a pitiful year in my opinion and wonder where Jagex's time has been.

The highlight of Runefest... Was Solak.. A boss that the vast majority of the player base does not want. Poll after poll this kind of forced team content loses spectacularly and they ignore us and go ahead with it anyway. Most recent poll voted largely against 3-7 man bosses and yet here they are making Solak that very thing.

Even then, 1 kill for comp and it will rot like other endgame content like raids, I moan because I want it to be more than that.. But It wont be!! infact raids 2 was a highlight of a Runefest. It was not wanted and it never happened because it was not wanted by all but statistically 3% of the gaming community. I cannot understand why Jagex retreats to this "look at us, how endgame we can make something".. Just like Raids 2, SOLAK will not be worth it to most players.. It will not be used by most players.. The gaming community does not need the hardest possible, it is neither wanted nor is it necessary..

What is the build up to raids? What team content does this game have that a TEAM can form and learn MID-LEVEL content and learn to be as good as to raids? Hardly anything at all, Jagex seem to be their own worst enemy, they create endgame endgame endgame and try to outdo themselves over and over again.. Who are they looking to impress? Because 97% of the player base is NOT INTERESTED! ! !

They have delivered hardly anything this year in my opinion and what they have done has been completely underwhelming and anti-climax that they even have put a pin on that (expansions).. Since Menaphos there has been no update that lost me my ability to wear my comp.. The fact that I have had NOTHING to work for has been the epitome of boring.

In my opinion Jagex needs new management, this game is going downhill imo

I thought it crashed and burned at the bottom of said hill ages ago.

The 300 (whatever exact number, it's insane) consecutive days of TH promos..

The last years' suggestion of larger focused updates to be released less frequently but have more content and focus on their grandeur - LOOKING STRAIGHT AT YOU SHATTERED WORLDS - has bombed literally every time an update drops since they talked about it.

And naturally since their update idea has done horrible we're now on the focus point of "Unfinished Business". Right - because letting 1/4 of your employee base work on a single update (let's use the bank rework as a fine example) will go over real well. It totally won't take another 8 months and either fail to deliver/be riddled with bugs/be left in the dust and forgotten about entirely.

As much as I enjoy members content in the game overall I'm damn glad I haven't had to pay a dollar out of my pocket for years now as I don't believe they deserve any of my money.
