We couldn't put things in there that would potentially change your opinion of Armadyl, for example, because those who have sided with Armadyl in Endgame and used up their second canon playthrough would not be able to undo that, so it would be unfair to provide such knowledge in an earlier quest.

I don't really think it's fair in either case. On one hand, Armadyl is getting shafted because people don't really understand what he's actually like/about, on the other, people who have made their decision find out they're wrong. Personally, I'm in favor of the former.

Besides, there are still people who, despite everything, don't understand Zaros, so I doubt it'll honestly change that much for those who have made their choice already.

i.e We start the new quest at an intermediate/novice level and don't make Endgame a hard requirement. Instead we put a warning saying that you really should play endgame first and we treat the questlines going forward as assuming endgame has been done.

I'm in favor of this. Endgame's combat requirements and quest requirements individually are both insane. I have completed every other quest, but I'm locked behind barely being able to beat Gregorovic by himself. I could live with ROP being locked behind Endgame, but I would prefer not.

But if it's a remote possibility, I'm most in favor of getting a completely separate, lower-level set of quests about the Aviansie, Ó la Dorgeshuun, on top of ROP. Or even just one, to reclaim the citadel or some such. But that's a whole other discussion.

Throw a couple of deadtouched darts, they work on greg nomad and linza. Or kill the opponent which is the most dangerous first (greg-nomad-Linza)

I'm still waiting for the Deep Sea Fishing merchant to sell the darn darts.

Honestly, that battle should just have an easy mode, and get limited rewards if you do it or something.

This is off-topic though, so let's drop it here.

From a narrative and design perspective, we're effectively Elemental Workshopped 3 if we do, and Elemental Workshopped 3 if we don't.

We've run into the issue of everything that went into designing the 6th Age Content (ie: Make everything require Ritual of the Mahjarrat to access or not).

Whatever ... just design as you see best.

The 6th age was meant to be a soft reboot, starting with a very long quest chain requiring a ton of quests and ending with the Sixth age beginning, and new quests not requiring the grandmaster quest. You really need to do the same thing here, you can't lock all upcoming content behind Endgame.

And taking away Armadyl's shot at an intermediate quest just because it might change people's opinion isn't really fair when so many other gods got so much exposure prior to Endgame.

I have my share of regrets due to bad choices I made back around 2006 and some others I made later, like killing the dog and resurrecting Hazeel. This would be no different than it was in the past, I don't see why we suddenly have to cease adding content because it might make people regret earlier choices.

I'm very much part of the Rite of Passage pre-Endgame, or rather ambiguous to its exact date in the 6th age by simply not mentioning Sliske or the SoJ - though I imagine this is perhaps necessary.

Honestly, I've always been such a fan of pushing for harder and bigger quest requirements, but for some reason it just feels wrong with Rite of Passage. Unsure if this is because originally it was supposed to come beforehand, or because there is a lack of Armadyl content (more so for lower levels) or because I imagine Abbinah to be this beautiful location and I feel more players should be able to experience it.

I don't really know how much it would affect Endgame, I'm not clued up on all of the dialogue and how it relates to or reveals information about Abbinah/Armadyl - but I do know there's a lot of dialogue. So, perhaps I'm being somewhat ignorant of this.

I'd personally advocate for a Recipe for Disaster style quest in two halves, one half of the quest can be completed by anyone - shows off Armadyl, Abbinah, etc, whereas the second half could require Endgame and be much deeper, serious, cataclysmic lore.

I'd also be fine with having Rite of Passage coming before Endgame, and then being added as a requirement to Endgame. I think the difference is that Heart of Stone was not added as a requirement to Fate of the Gods after its release.

Edit: I do have a lot of personal quarrels with the events and story of Endgame, so maybe this is clouding my judgement a little.

You've not been listening to my description of it at all have you? :P

So one of the reasons RoP should come after Endgame, currently, is due to the rewrite that brings in a number of Endgame elements. These would need to be removed if it were to come before Endgame.

My main reasoning at the moment is that if I said it pre Endgame, it would still largely be considered post endgame by the community. As players engage in content chronologically based on release date.

Personally I would like to be able to set it post-endgame, but without endgame as a hard requirement. That way I get to tell the better story and we can start making lower level quests again, since, let's be honest, most people know the Endgame story by now even if they haven't played it and anyone who diehard needs to complete content in order will already be doing that, so it's the best result for most people.

As it stands if I get the ability to start working on RoP I'll be doing a rewrite anyway based on internal discussions and plans for the core storyline, so it might be that we could pull the requirements down somewhat. But then we still have the question of what we do with advancing story post endgame. Possibly one to poll players.

Maybe an elite dungeon? But with extra puzzles and death traps?

Whilst I would love to do an Abbinah themed elite dungeon, I believe RoP should be a quest rather than an elite dungeon. At its core it's a story of exploration and discovery, rather than combat.

See that sounds an awful lot like season 2. The thing Iĺd ask people who are against this is: what do you lose if they do this? If the story is exactly the same as if Endgame were a hard requirement, but it isnĺt actually a hard requirement...what are YOU losing out on?
