Some arguments are made that easier quests need to be made before ROP to make people interested in Armadyl, but that's only really a problem if Jagex were entirely against the idea of ROP and/or the quest bombed in the polls, neither of those are true. I think if you want people to be really impressed with the faction, starting off with a big one like ROP whose purpose isn't purely "Armadyl Quest" would do far more anyway.

WRT Abbinah expextations: My expectation of it is as a quest hub+ as you described it. It's mostly where the quest takes place, but there may be some extras to explore (if possible). It would also be nice if it was possible to add content to it in entirely separate updates later on.

The problem is that RoP will require Endgame, which is one of the hardest quests with the most requirements.

This means that in practice very few would be exposed to the Armadyl faction is RoP was the first Armadyl quest.

To answer Mod Raven’s question of whether this needs to be the next Menaphos: of course not.

Yeah, as much as I’d love Abbinah to be as big as or even bigger than the Arc or Menaphos, that’s never going to happen, at least not as one huge thing released all at once. We’ll need to get our foot in the door with something that fits into the three-month production cycle before we start talking about something that big. (And it’s a shame, too, because I had an idea for Abbinah’s rep system, but c’est la vie.)

Well now that clarifies a lot about RoP of what it initially seemed as another attempt at expansions. So Abbinah will essentially be a similar replication of the Arc with skilling areas in which I'll further assume each island will be focused on a specific skill, and of course it will have to be distinct from the ones you can already train in the Arc. IMO you can pack most of the lore after RoP into a miniquest, instead of just floating memories like with most Guthix updates, in the islands with untradeable rewards for gear and new tier weps for range, mage, and melee. Kind of analogous to the rewards of the miniquest of desert treasure. These rewards will of course need some value of maintenance to not interfere with the economy, like maybe they can be renewed with a currency only found on Abbinah and some other resources.

Also since you clarified the idea of what Abbinah will be about, it does make sense to make it after Sliske's Endgame since the purpose seems to be more revolved around higher level players of a new skilling area, instead of an actual introduction to the Armadyl faction. I understand it will be more about that major questline to turn the focus on Armadyl because of the sequence of events in Endgame. Therefore, RoP as a starting point Armadyl quest series will seem unlikely and will have to be initiated on a separate storyline. However, it's important to recognize that many players here would like to participate in an Armadyl quest so maybe the quest team can develop a bottle quest for the faction separate to RoP.

I do think however that Abbinah should be a little more than just a skilling area. Other than the miniquest, please also consider a new slayer creature, a D&D event or a solo minigame, a summoning familiar or instead a follower as a quest reward that offers advantages and some sort of falconry on Abbinah to maintain, and maybe a new dungeon? Dragonkins can fly too lol.

1 perk of the floating island concept is they can just do a small area (figuratively speaking) just saying that the other islands are too far away to safely travel too.
Then come back to it at a later time

I really hope we see this quest before the year is up, or early next year at the very least, I worry that people have become fatigued over the idea of it in the wider game.

Personally, I do think it should be set before Sliske's Endgame, or rather a quest split into two quests - one before endgame, one after.

Not a huge fan of it coming after Endgame because it's such a high-level piece and difficult piece of content, which is quite hypocritical as to what Jagex have said about quest reqs in the past. Not only that, but I can imagine Abbinah will look absolutely beautiful - The more players that can experience this, the better.

The problem is, having it take place before Endgame comes wth too steep a price tag: they’d have to rewrite certain parts of Endgame to make it work. That’s just not feasible, and I really can’t see that going over any better than requiring Endgame would. Since the idea of 6a Season 2 is out (community doesn’t like it, and the devs are too divided over it) we don’t have much choice.

The only decent compromise option is to do a smaller quest first, then RoP, but I would stress again that we really shouldn’t go down that road if there’s enough resources for RoP.

As for fatigue, I think we’re past that point, and I don’t even know what to call it at this point.

Fun sidenote: we’re getting close to to 2,500 posts between this thread and version 1. What a ride it’s been...

I'll be fine with ROP coming out first, but we need a more beginner-friendly Armadyl quest
at some point.

So... Random thought... How 'bout a web comic / novel for Right of passage?

Or a new story in the Lore page. Seriously, the last one was years ago!

But a novel would be amazing. Still waiting on the 4th Kara-Meir one though.

The problem with RoP coming out before a beginner-friendly Armadyl quest is that the quest would have to be a pre-req for RoP, and it would make more sense for RoP to have dialogue referencing the beginner Armadyl quest. So if a quest like that did happen, it would have to come out before RoP.

I agree with Armadyl needing a L&H though ;)
To those cursed by war and pest, Come into the light of Armadyl and rest. This is the law of Armadyl.
