Information about Upcoming Tales!

Tales are a new form of quest-like content, filling the role of Miniquests that elaborate on background and introduce lore. Mahjarrat Memories is a great example of this type of content, story wise. They are smaller scale in size, but will have an impact both on the story and on rewards.

No new Tales have been announced at this time.

---

Released Tales:

- Tales of the God Wars - 7 March 2016
- Tales of the Arc I: Impressing the Locals - 11 July 2016
- Tales of the Arc II-V: Flag Fall, Head of the Family, Spiritual Enlightenment, Jed Hunter - 25 July 2016
- Tales of Nomad - 26 September 2016
- Tales of the Arc VI-XI: Eye for an Eye, Harbinger, Tuai Leit's Own, Ghosts from the Past, Damage Control, Final Destination - 10 October 2016

Great to see this thread back!

I will try and help in every way I can to help out this thread.

Also I guess it's safe to assume that "Bringing Home the Bacon" will be the next quest to be released. It is scheduled to be in the next BTS, so as long as nothing goes wrong, it should be out in 2 weeks.

Yep, that'd be my thought! I'm eagerly awaiting the BTS video!

I think next penguin quest comes in 2014 or 2014.

Mod Raven has just started a new project (a quest it seems) that is not a penguin quest (He's the Penguin curator), so I do not think we'll see the next until mid-to-late 2014, at the earliest.

Love these kind of threads, though I am quickly losing faith in the supposed release dates we know/guess at since everything seems to be constantly delayed again and again.

It's quite depressing indeed, but if Jagex is sticking to their word this time around, we'll be quite piled with quests soon!

Congratz on filling the old thread.

Also isn't a Falador city rework (graphical) supposed to be released with the Black Knights Fortress rework/Sir Owen quest?

Thanks!

There was talk of it ages ago, and the Black Knight's Fortress itself has been reworked and shown in a screenshot, but I've heard nothing about Falador itself recently.

By 6th age quests I believe he meant the brilliant storyline quests involving the gods. Not reworks and things that just happen to be in the sixth age.

Also about missing presumed death, I believe it was mentioned to be the most rewarding quest so far depending how much time and effort you've put into your skills and quests.

I'm most looking forward to MPD, a fully voiced kick starter to the god series that'll feature brilliant characters. Lore, voices, rewards. What's not to love?

I like bacon too...

Dwarf finale.. I'm sad at the fact we don't get a rework but it'll be nice for it to have an end after these years.

I'm not really hyped over a sir Owen quest.. Eh.. I'm sure those who follow Saradomin can't wait for it

I kinda left that up in the air, as Sir Owen is definitely a new entity in the 6th Age, but we shall see!

I certainly would like that! Is there a source on that? If so, I'd love to add that point.

I'm quite sad that Kelda won't be fully realized until after the finale is released, but I know John A won't let us down story-wise!

I personally look forward to it for different reasons (I quite dislike Saradomin), but yeah, a full appearance by Sara will be nice for those of his supporters.

I don't mind it going deep if there's nothing to discuss :P With any luck we won't have that problem again for awhile.

I'm glad that they Dwarf finale isn't going to be tied to the Sixth Age storyline. I like when storylines coalesce, but I think it's still a bit much that EVERYTHING seems to be tied to the Sixth Age, even though it makes sense for that to happen.

You should probably add that Bringing Home the Beacon should be released next week.

Didn't they kind of imply that the next Myreque quest would be the finale? I would hope not.

I as well, though I'm glad to see Dwarf sitting aside for now.

No release date officially announced. I shall refrain until we get the BTS on Friday.

They did, which confused me, as Ana has said at least two more, one about Safalaan, and one to finalize the story.

Mourning's end part 3? Weren't there parts 1 and 2, then Within the Light? Yo estoy confudido... however, it's just a name. This quest will tie the elf quest's loose ends up.

Within the Light is considered "Filler" now, it seems. That's just what the name was announced as.

And I chose Seren based on her ideals actually ;) Before I had this name, I was a big fan of Seren, and since there's no "Amascut"/"Desert Pantheon" option, I went with my second favorite :3

You know, I just noticed that you, Amascut, are the goddess of destruction, yet you aligned yourself with Seren. Then again you were once the benevolent goddess of rebirth, so maybe you have that slight connection with your past.
Amascut also has a thread detailing her plots for the future: 16-17-31-64014923. Perhaps aligning yourself with destruction impedes your judgement. :P

Where did they get that name from? Sounds interesting, though.

John A mentions it in the new podcast. He says he kinda picked it quickly when submitting the design brief, and wanted to keep with the tradition of having the word Dwarf/Dwarves in the title.

Anyway, just can't wait for them. For me every quest in RS are amazing, even if i completing them with guides :D

Mourning's End Part II was developed by Mod Dylan, the creator of the Elemental Workshop series. Within the Light and all future installments are by Mod Chris L :)

Sir Owen is a Black Knight's Fortress rework and will have no requirements. However, it's actually not part of the Temple Knights series anymore it seems. Since it occurs in the 6th Age, this means it's not a requirement for any of the Temple Knight quests, and may serve as a springboard for future Signature Hero/Gods content instead.

I also really doubt we'd get Acolyte Temple rank from this, as it's a novice, requirementless quest.

I think it is confirmed to be the finale since there are six gnome quests already, as evidence on the wiki. One question that I'm concerned about is that will Glough and Glouphrie appear on the same quest or are they separate?

It's been brought up a few times, but there's way too much story to cover for it to really be a finale. Arposandran finale, perhaps but there's still the entire Monkey/Karamja gnome storyline to follow up.

''I'm a big fan of the motion comics and I personally would love to see us using them again. Personally I would consider saving them for some of the big storylines we've got coming up. Personally I think the
Elder god storyline
we're working on would make for a brilliant place for another motion comic. ''

It'll probably intertwine with the current God Series, like how the Mahjarrat Series intertwined/began the God Series with TWW.

Actually it did not rotm is confirmed to be the finale of the mahjarrat series.

That would be the Rise of Lucien series it concluded actually.

And apologies! If it wasn't already obvious, I am not currently able to update the thread! My only computer is broken and I'm mobile bound, which is half impossible to use, forum wise. Mod Mark said in his livestream that he imagines Nomad v2 more as a bossfight than a quest. I'm not sure about the exact wording, but this might indicate that there are no plans anymore for Nomads Requiem 2.

I've taken to ignoring Mod Mark when he speaks of Nomad. He seems to act like the story has no potential and said he believed Nomad to be dead a few months ago. At this point I'm about ready to spend some time writing up a thread on Nomad again in the hopes Mod Mark will finally let Mod Rate actually carry out his Nomad 2 plans.

Anything Nomad would be quite nonsensical as a f2p quest though. I still hope that Jagex considers shifting Nomad to a 6th Age series, with Nomad's master being Zamorak instead though.

Couldn't agree more. The layout is half-impossible to use on mobile, which really locks me out of using the site when not on my PC!

@Jir: Yes, she left last year. Mod Raven, who's working on Rite of Passage currently, is the person slated to continue the series.

@Krolos: Plus, expected bugs in coding can definitely slow things down suddenly!

@Red: He was confirmed as Zamorakian, which is why I would love if he was placed in an antagonistic role against Zamorak, to try and ascend himself. Lucien's just a dead story path now.

As for Elves, that's been rumors flying for ages. As much as I'd love it, I don't know if Elves will really end up as the 200.

Then again, Missing, Presumed Death is a Novice quest, and ever since The World Wakes, they just moved the plot along regardless of whether or not you've done certain quests, with the quests you HAVE completed just unlikely extra rewards and dialogue. Hopefully it at least requires The World Gate and Missing, Presumed Death, since I imagine that those will be like Priest in Peril and Icthlarin's Little Helper, in that those quests had a tendency to be requirements for plenty of quests.

Mod Rowley's been discussing this very thing on Twitter - he's looking into ways to perhaps change this.

According to both Mod Rowley (the dev) and Mod Osborne on Twitter, the "Zaros Quest" and "Elder God" quest are to be the same thing. Since the "Zaros Quest" is the World Gate quest in dev by Mod Rowley, this means the two are one and the same, unless some information was left out. Don't always trust the RS Wiki - I actually had the two quests listed as separate things, before I was informed by a friend who was at RuneFest that I was incorrect about them being two quests. @Fannygirdle on Twitter | Co-Owner of The Scrying Pool, a future updates and lore clan

@Etheral: There's guaranteed to be at least three more - Next is a Crondis quest, then a Het quest, and then a finale, or more!

@Dr Blackston: Personally, I love what they're doing with combat inside quests. The issue is that they don't extend the fancy mechanics to other content outside of the quests themselves!

Granted, there are puzzles quests in the game, like Elemental Workshop, but quests are meant to test all parts of your Runescape skill - not just "Reading off the wiki" ability ;)

@The Darkk: Thanks! Will add the info about a Divination quest! Elder God quest has been confirmed to be Fate of the Gods by Mods Osborne and Rowley, as far as they seemed to explain it.

Apologies for taking awhile to update - I was in my school's show this year, and we just finished our last night a few hours ago. Been a crazy couple of weeks!

They spoke of July / August for MEP3. I expect this to hit before October, basically.

As for Rite of Passage - Raven should be picking it up soon, but we have a poll hitting next month about what two quests we what, type-wise:

- Continuation: EW, Gnome, Desert, ect

- 6th Age: Centaur, Gods, Elder Gods, Dragonkin

- Standalone: Detective, Action, Skill

I'll personally be voting for Continuation. I hope you'll do the same, so we can finally get some further stories in major, older, storylines!

@Pala:

-Monkey quest has no assigned Developer

-Desert quests are awkward, cuz I want one now, but they keep putting Rowley on other stuff.

(and to reference, Div quest (Osborne), Gnome (Maylea), Pirate (Liono?), Myreque (Ana), Nomad (Rathe?), EW (Doctor), Penguin (Raven), Zamorak (Mentioned), Owen (Stu).)

Right now for this year, as of today, we have:

Fate of the Gods
MEP3
Secret April Quest
Two of whichever wins the poll

Elemental Workshop - Experienced
Penguins - Experienced
Pirates - Master+

Sir Owen - Intermediate
Aviansie - Intermdiate+
Tuska - Experienced+
Elder Gods - Grandmaster?
Dragonkin - Grandmaster?

No. I did not include reworks that were not full-scale overhauls, and billed as such. Those reworks were quick jobs, small scale, and were not announced as full quest reworks, just overhauls with graphics changes.

Anywho - the new BTS video is out, and the Ashdale Quest is what we're getting this month, as developed by Mod Goya. It's actually something we already knew about, so looks like Osborne was wrong!

Lots of cool stuff on the BTS though - Spring Event+Minigame (Cabbage-Face-Punch-Bonanza), the Ashdale quest, new Mah Energy Divination spot and Muspah BoB with new items and transmutes including Charm Transmuting and new Portents/Signs, Level 90 Power gloves for Ranged and Mage at Ascension and Celestials respectively, and some awesome inventory loadout stuff.

Osborne had said previously that the April quest would be one that would "surprise us" and they had been keeping it secret, like they did with One of a Kind.

Ashdale actually will not be solely 6th Age content upon release of Shadow Over Ashdale - Mod Stu has some changes going through QA to firmly cement the Tutorial Ashdale as 5th Age, but upon leaving of course, things shift to 6th.

The quest will then be 6th Age.

However, since I have 4 upcomings slots, I'll keep it on there for now, and add whichever wins the poll as one too. We have enough on Rite of Passage for it to remain noteworthy, to be honest.

I was definitely expecting a quest in July after something Mod Osborne said (another surprise quest), so I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a JMod to slip up about who's developing it.

Somehow, I'm really hoping they threw Mod Doctor on to an Elemental Workshop V even though it lost the poll, but I'm kinda expecting something Intermediate or so that wasn't on the poll at all.

Also awesome to hear that we'll get something in September before the Research quest. I do think we won't get a quest in December though, cuz if we do, it'd be the 200th Quest, and I do expect Jagex to try and do something vaguely fancy with it.

I'm quite hoping next year wraps up a few more storylines. Perhaps get EW5 out early next year, and wrap up the year with EW6 as a finale? We also have Gnomes slated for one final quest, which has a design brief and everything. Desert has 2-3 more, and I'd adore for one to head into development as well.

Being able to juggle older series and 6th Age quests really needs to happen to keep stories relevant and moving forward. The fewer new series we start for the next year or so, the more focused the story can get for a little while, before things are ready to branch out again.

I'm not saying for the sake of wrapping them up. Mod Maylea stated that the next Gnome quest was written and designed to be the last one.

For the Elemental Workshop series, I kinda feel like shifting into 3-rune quests would be better off. They fit thematically better:

EW5 - Astral, Nature, Law - Anima based
EW6 - Death, Blood, Soul - Life based

Regardless, many series are nearly over and need their last quest or two or three, and instead of spending all this time on the 6th Age, Jagex needs to take the time to finish their 5th Age threads.

The problem is that, because of the overall story of the Sixth Age, look at the options that would have been in the continuation poll: Desert, Elemental Workshop, Gnomes, Penguins and Pirates. Out of all of those, I can only see them caring about the Desert and the Gnomes, and even then, I don't think the Gnomes would have much to offer in their overall plans. We got the Elder God Research Quest in October, and then Zamorak's heist, or at least something to set it up, a little after that. Given how Jagex seems committed to the idea of their "three pillars", I wouldn't put it past them to want the dragonkin to be the next thing they focus on, assuming that One of a Kind doesn't already count for now.

We know they're going to announce their major plans for the next year or so at RuneFest, and I'm sure that, while the Elf City was their primary focus for most of the year, if the Powers to the Players polls are any indication, they're going to try again and see if players want Invention. Whether that means Invention gets a poll against something else, or if they just go with it regardless, I'm not sure, but either way, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to make Invention part of the theme for next year.

I'm hoping next year plays with Invention/Divination storylines so we can really see how these skills impact the world and the second God War. There's some deep lore and far reaching effects these stories can have if they use them. I mean, we got a chunk about Div this year, but they really need to fully expand it more, especially on how others use it.

One thing I have issue with is that the Elder God quest is supposed to be coming out in around November.. we have Plague's End in either July or August, but will anything be between that and the Elder God quest?? We were promised more quests this year. 7 is more than 6, but only by one.

RE: September - I'm quite curious myself. Mod Osborne has been teasing at some quest we know nothing about, so we'll see if that makes an appearance.

As for the Elder God, the original announcement was for November, but then several mods talked about it as an October. Could we get a double set of quests then, with Halloween hitting in the second week, and Elder God coming at the end? I feel like it's more likely it comes in November, but I wouldn't say no to a double quest month at all.

Yeah, Zammy still seems slotted as the last quest this year, and should lead into WE3, so I'm hopeful.

As for Rite of Passage, it's bothering me immensely. The quest was designed as a follow-up to World Event 2, so it really bugs me that it's been *ages* since that event ran and we still have nothing from Armadyl about how that impacted him. The Bandosian follow-up took long enough after all.

Poll coming soon for our 199th Quest - Quest to then come in February

- Elemental Workshop V: Your adventure continues, deeper into the devilishly devious workshop where you unlock the secrets of the Astral and Nature rooms.

- Pirate Quest: What horrors lurk in the waters of the Cursed Archipelago? Find the source of Rabid Jack’s power as the pirates of Mos Le'Harmless prepare for war.

- Spellcrafting Quest: Spellcrafting is a lost and dangerous art. Can you master it and create a new spell for the wizards of the world?

- Zamorak’s Heist: Sliske has the Stone of Jas, and Zamorak plans to assemble a team and engineer a heist. But is Sliske the only enemy?

- I don't mind: Choose this option if you don't mind which of the above quests are developed.

Quest 200 will be the second Special Quest, in the vein of Recipe for Disaster.

Also, is it right that the Elder God quest is set for October? That would make two quests in one month, and considering the current trend with quests that's highly unlikely.

Halloween in October for certain, Elder God pushed to December due to Elf City part 2 being in November.

Ah, thank you for the reminder, Elder God has clearly fallen back on the schedule.

Bogus. Bogus, I tell you.

First of all, Bilrach is dead, period.

Second, Hazeel will come back to players who sided to Hazeel's cult in Hazeel's Cult.

Last, when the hell did Jerrod become a heister when he is a werewolf adventurer?

I've been saying Bilrach is alive for nearly a year now... He's alive, and I'm happier for it.

Hazeel is coming back for everyone. They're using this quest to properly resurrect him for those who never let him return, and finally straighten out that mess of a "choice".

And that's what we'll be learning in the quest - What Jerrod has been up to since the novels.

Come on man, open your mind! They're making use of a whole host of characters in this quest and straightening out a lot of odds and ends here.

Ok. If Moia and Bilrach survived the void at the bottom of Daemonheim, who the f*** really died down there?

For the strange power or the body?

Nobody died for the strange power. It was a byproduct of sending Moia through the Rift, and the Ritual Marker's use.

The dead body is likely just some body that was rotting.

More and more disappointment. :| This quest is going to be a "disaster"...Just wish Jagex hadn't rushed this the way they seem to be doing.

this was clear from the start, they only put 1 jmod on making the quest. Where as recepie for disaster had a whole team. At that point the quest was already doomed

You do know that's not how it works right? The Guardians team have been hard at work on it, and the team is Mods Osborne, Rowl*y, Stu, and Giara. That's a freaking amazing team of lore and tech skills, and I'm really looking forward to quest 200.

Away from the petty drama revolving around that... a new Dukes Dev Blog is out, revealing the name of Zammy Heist: "Dishonour Among Thieves", a release frame: late February, and that they'll be handling quest 201, to come out in the Spring as well!

As such, this puts our quest schedule to be something around this:

DAT: February
DOD: March/April
201: April/May

Looks like a pretty solid lineup, leading into the summer months which should also contain World Event 3!

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to Dimension of Disaster; the preview was amazing. Stu did an amazing job.

That said, and as awesome as DoD will be, RfD still got more resources. DoD has Stu, helped by Srowl*y, Doctor and Osborne, whereas RfD had double the amount of subquests with a different developer on each subquest (one even had three; the intro quest had a different dev and even Mod Mark write some dialogue). Of course, DoD also has a new area to explore and a sort of achievement diary. I'm very satisfied with DoD as it is at the moment (replayable!), but one can't help but notice the difference in allocated resources and developers with RfD...

To be fair, it's because the development process today and back then are entirely different.

Looking over the first page, quests used to come out so much more frequently it seems. Kinda sad, really :/

That being said, this thread seems really helpful and has already informed me of quest things I wasn't aware of, like quest 201 and quest 200 apparently being playable in a group? Both were great news to find out, and only have increased the levels of hype I have. It also made me look up how many days we had until spring.

Here's to hoping we have three quests back to back!

They definitely did, but the quality of our quests have also definitely risen :)

Regarding the replaying of quests, I'd check out Mod Kelpie's reply to the suggestion about adding "Quest Prestiege" on RuneLabs. It pretty much sums up why it can't be done - the quest very much does have to be reset, due to the way Questing flags work for your character. The quest resets with the defence reset is actually quite buggy, and while the quests are completable, they're really awkward I hear, and sometimes are a bit screwy.

Quests would definitely need to be largely "recoded" in order to allow for replayability overall. It's a shame, but I suppose I'll deal with it!

So, we now have a schedule for this year's quests, currently!

- Dishonour Among Thieves
- Dimension of Disaster
- 201 God Quest
- Myreque IV
- "A sort of random one" (From today's Quests AMAA on Reddit)
- RuneLabs Quest month (It's been mentioned an upcoming RuneLabs month will be an entirely quest-devoted month!)

Additionally, we'll get a 7th if a Quest wins this month's RuneLabs!

Light year for quests :(

They said this "Large Update" on the last RSTV would likely have 5 items up for poll.
Rite of Passage looks like it's in the Top 5
the Seren Spells/Prayers + Quest looks like it makes it too (unless ofc jagex opts to only focus on the spells and prayers and take the opp to add in a lot of Batch 3-4 Elf Content)
Considering that maybe 1 more quest option would round out the top 5, it's still a bit of a maybe that the winner of this round would even be a quest since Runelabs isn't indicative of the in game votes/polls.

I guess the only way we get in more quests is having quest ideas run the table winning all of the Runelab votes between now and June-Aug. (Not sure a winner in Sep or Oct would have enough time to be developed in 2015.)

I'd say it's not too shabby myself. The size of the quests this year seems pretty fantastic, and 7 with *two* of them coming from RuneLabs if not more seems pretty wicked.

That moment when rework agility wins the poll. Jk, I feel that the 2 quests will out do the other two ideas by a landslide, not that the other ideas are bad just that that's not what the community is focused on atm. (Unless Agility Rework comes out of nowhere which is possible and I'm glad they included some nonquest ideas, farming guild is nice but I think most would choose one of the other three ideas over it)

I'm doubting the other two will come close, haha.

On a side note, the Raids/Goebie quest is now confirmed!

i sure as hell hope the agility rework does not win. The main focus of that idea is to add variety when it comes to training. It offers 0 solutions as to why should i train agility.
Right now agility is boring to train and pointless, making it fun to train and pointless will archieve nothing meaningfull.

In the description of the poll they are listing that the agility rework will make "perks" for training agility, as well as improving existing training. This confuses me as it wasn't is the idea description on RL, ill definitely switch my vote to the agility rework though if it means my 99 agility will give me an advantage over those with low agility.

well i really want my agility to matter and giving agility a use would make voting for it tempting. But they said they want to make the updates as close to the RL pitch as possible.

I just feel voting for a quest is safer as we in both cases know what we will get

That's my same goal - we know the idea of what we'll get from Quests. An Agility rework could fail miserably, and a Farming Guild as a Large update seems super boring.

Well, a few hour remain and it looks like the Seren quest is going to take it home! Glad to see we'll end up with another confirmed quest this year! We got pretty much no new information about 201 from the Duke's blog today sadly, but it looks like it'll be coming around June.

This means our quest schedule looks something like this:

201st Quest - June/July
Seren Quest - August
Goebie Quest - September
My**que - October?
RuneLabs Quest - December?

V (Hero's Welcome) IS quest 201. I thought I said that a few times :P 201 will be either June or July, Seren is August, Myreque is September, Goebie is either September or October, and whichever quest wins RuneLabs in July will be in December.

Additionally, if you vote for Broken Minds in the RuneLabs poll launching tomorrow, we'll get a miniquest sequel to Broken Home that I might see if I could get bumped up to a Novice-tier quest, for a total of 8 quests this year! It'd be small, but still.

Yeah, that's definitely true!

And I hope so. Not feeling much like a standalone quest myself right now, simply because this is a great opportunity to ensure we get 2 continuation quests in a single year (Myreque and Desert) which we'd otherwise not get.

And thanks! Sadly, it seems like there's a lot of Community hate for Broken Home, due to bugs and such. I guess people didn't want a sequel, even if the gameplay would be different. Not like I'm complaining about the Ama v. Icthy event though!

Launches with Miniquests. The Quest comes ~October.

---

On a side note, Jagex released a future content feedback survey today, and specifically mentioned the following quests for things they're considering making.

God Sagas
Quests that allow you to play as your favourite gods, learning about their origins and allowing you to participate in some of the greatest moments of RuneScape's history.

Floor 61 of Daemonheim
Find out how the god Zamorak was brought back into the world. Also features an additional Daemonheim floor to add to your Dungeoneering rotation.

Vampyre Quest Finale
The final quest in the vampyre storyline, ending the struggles of the Myreque and determining a winner between vampyres and humans.

Rite of Passage Quest

RuneLabs has closed for July! Starting on Thursday, a poll will be running asking you which quest you want, with the following questions. The catch? You can vote for AS MANY of the ideas as you want!

Here's the shortlist:

- How Does the Bank Actually Work?
- What Happened to Tutorial Island?
- What is Hiding UNDER Menaphos? (My idea!)
- What if the Werewolves Rebelled?
- Who Keeps Buring all these Treasure Caskets?
- Is Meg a Dependable Quest Partner?

Seren quest will not bring the Soul Altar. If my Menaphos quest wins, I will be pushing to include the Soul Altar in it though.

That could actually work storywise!
The SOUL altar.
Icthlarin does something with souls right? I forgot what exactly, but that connection would justify the soul altar being beneath menaphos.

Hope your idea wins, amascut, as it's the only decent looking quest storywise.
Also, I'm really looking forward to the light within and the upcoming vampyre quest.

Icthlarin helps ferry souls, and Amascut actully eats them! I thought a fun development would be Amascut actally hunting the Soul Altar, and it's under Menaphos which is why she took it over :)

Thanks so much!

I don't know how much influence Mod Ana will have on the vampire quest. I mean Rowl*y just said he is writing dialogue now, a while after Ana left and that was part she said she would be contributing to. Of course she had plans but Rowl*y could dismiss them. Probably they just said she would be included to satisfy branches fans.

Indeed, I don't think she ended up having much more than story outline help before she left.

Also with a firm lead, it looks like the tutorial island quest will see the year out. I talked to the author, she seems very nice and would focus on underwater races. It sounds quite cool if they listen to her.

Honestly, I still hope something else wins. Can't see a Tutorial Island quest not being awful without most of it having nothing to do with Tutorial Island. I was glad to see it removed, and I just wish it would never come back. Adding a quest about it, when the one small little reference in PoP was move than enough, seems just wrong. Sorry, but I absolutely never support nostalgia stuff. It feels like a step back to re-add the Tutorial Island underwater, and especially bad to randomly stick Underwater races on it, when it's an island with like 6 houses on it and one tiny underwater bit, and nothing else of interest.

None appear to be, no. However, the Twitch Stream today mentioned some JMods are interested in looking at adding some new F2P content!

---

Anywho, here's some further updates for now:

- Seren quest is confirmed to have Crystalline Shapeshifters in it as monsters to fight post-quest which will drop Crystal armour (a weaker and stronger version)

- Fate of the Gods 2 is very likely happening next year

- Quest Master Cape is not canceled. The requirements are heavily in discussion with Mod Manti, who's been doing some wonderful work now that some of the finer points are nailed down. Glad to see all the fighting has subsided as well, and I appreciate him keeping with the idea!

Now, have these actually ever been seen in RuneScape? I believe they're on AoG... but I don't know that I've heard of them ever being on RS!

But crystal armor, cool! What tier will it be, do you reckon? 70?

My question is, "What would happen in a Fot* II quest?"

Ahh, that's right! I did the survey, too... whew! That'll be so cool. Plus, didn't they say at one point that there are still Mahjarrat on Freneskae??

Looking forward to that!! :)

Unfortunately thanks to Dishonour Among Thieves, it's been confirmed no Mahjarrat are still living there.

I'm all for the nostalgia of Tutorial Island, but I feel the reason this quest is being added is wrong. "What happened to Tutorial Island" isn't a valid question in the lore in my honest opinion because, according to my understanding, it never existed as we knew it.

That's just my two cents.

Overall I do agree. Except I'm also against the nostalgia of Tutorial Island in general too. I think things left behind need to stay left behind.

I have massive concerns for a few reasons:

1) Nostalgia. Because you pitched Tutorial Island, and not the PoP Sunken Island, which well could have been different things, you opened up the nostalgia stigma. People are going to be going in expecting some absurd nostalgia trip through Tutorial Island and such, and I have no interest or love for designs like that. I really appreciate that you want to steer away from that, but it doesn't change the expectation I know many will have.

2) The design of the island. The original Tutorial Island is boring as hell. Like seriously, it's painfully dull. Taking what we know as Tutorial Island and making it sink just means now the couple small buildings are ruined, and the tiny dungeon is flooded... and that's it. If Ashdale sunk? Cool - the architecture plus the statues create some really amazing visuals, and opens a lot of design space for cool content. But Tutorial Island doesn't. It was spread out, simple, and exceedingly boring visually. This quest will require devs to create something pretty much unrecognizable as Tutorial Island for it to have any sort of visual appeal.

3) The pitch. My biggest issue with what you pitched in RuneLabs was that it lacked... anything. Reading it, I have no idea where the quest is to go, what I'm to expect to play, and what I could do there. There's not really any story pitched. Who's going down there? Why? What is there of interest on this island at all? What purpose is it trying to fulfill? What are we to expect from this? Your pitch left a lot more questions than answers, which leaves me having no tangible idea of what I'm to expect as a quester and as a lorehound about what kind of experience I'd be having with this quest.

4) It's a filler quest. We get so few quests each year, adding a random throwaway quest about the sunken Tutorial Island just feels like a waste when a more relevant update could be made.

There seems to be a discrepancy over what a "medium sized quest" is. What is the length of the average "medium sized" quest? The website lists medium quests as everything from Imp Catcher to Nomad's Requiem and Mourning's End Part II. Are "medium sized" (as stated in the Runelabs criteria) and "medium length" (category on the website) quests the same thing?

Regarding this, Medium-length =/= medium-sized. Length is of course the time to play it, while size would be the budget put into it. Something like Heart of Stone and A Shadow Over Ashdale are the Medium-sized quest projects mentioned on the guidelines.

I was not very detailed in my runelabs submission but it was very clear that it was intended to be underwater themed and there was no intention of bringing back tutorial Island as it once was. You're talking about something you when you don't have all of the information. Amascut did read my Runelabs submission and she most likely read my statements on the Runelabs forum post here: 387-388-20-65656453

If you don't have all of the facts I'm sure it does appear that way, but none of that was really directed towards you anyway.

If it helps, it's not you I'm worried about :P I'm actually very happy with all your follow-up to it, but I just wish you'd gone into it with a more clear idea. That's what I've always seen RuneLabs as, in terms of player content anyway. I just now expect this to have a ton of awful expectations on it from those many people who voted nostalgically, and am worried the devs will buy into that and make something too focused on what the Island was, rather than all the more interesting Underwater content we could get. Additionally, I'm just worried about graphical budget and design of the island overall, since it needs to change to be any good.

We'll see, I just can't find myself hopeful.

Indeed, I have the same concerns, haha. I was talking to Zoli Ben about it, and it just has a lot of really confusing things for me. I'm interested, but tentatively so because what the goals it has are seem to be a bit off - Mahjarrat returning to Freneskae, Zaros revealing himself to Zamorak... ach. We'll see how development plays out.

After the next Vampyre quest the other quests this year seem pretty weak... I'd rather Jagex just tell the story of the sixth age of finish up the good fifth age quests instead of taking Runelab quest ideas. Let's be honest they already had the Seren Quest planned long before someone on Runelabs suggested it they just pushed the timeline forward because of it.

They very much didn't have the quest planned, lol. A returning Seren piece of concept had been a vague World Event idea, but then was canceled because they didn't think the gameplay would be good enough.

We don't plan (as in design) content until we're working on it, otherwise that's just a waste of resources. But, sure, we think about these things. The idea of Seren returning is an obvious one, so we should have but some thought into how such a thing could/would/should happen, and I'm sure a few of us here already had some thoughts or ideas on paper, but planned out? No.

Even then, plans change. You never know what state the game will be in when you actually come to make something, and you should take advantage of recent developments since thinking up the original idea.

Heck, Mod Mark even talked about a potential World Event where we gathered Seren's shards and rebuilt her! But yeah, it's definitely clear at least to me that RuneLabs was really the core reason this quest happened, and I'm happy for it!

As a strong proponent of the Floor 61 quest, I think you're very very wrong. One simple reason: The Acolyte. While Bilrach's story has reached a somewhat natural end and those details are by and large spelled out, we still have a massive blank space - Who is the Acolyte really, what is he doing here, who sent him, and why?

Focusing a quest around the mysteries in Skaldrun's story and the Acolyte's mysteries would be a stellar quest, and would finally wrap up the remaining loose threads left in Daemonheim's story.

Tutorial island is the same though, trying to explain gameplay mechanics with story when they can be easily dismissed with suspension of disbelief.

It at least makes use of a known location in the lore (via PoP), and Guitar Girl is being *amazing* about gathering ideas and seeing what can be done with them :)

Thank you very much! I'm currently putting together a second video for the Myreque quest to go over the more directly related lore content we can expect, though I'll likely wrap it up this upcoming weekend after the BTS for Lord of Vamp**ium drops! I really enjoy both the examination of the development process and the lore, so I figure one of each in video form makes sense for each quest!

Oh man, I can't even begin to talk about how much I agree with you here. I enjoy the series deeply, but it's a pretty clunky one early on (I actually think the first quest isn't very good), and while #4 is cool and all, and delves into the history of Morytania wonderfully, it feels like a hugely filler quest, and could have been dealt with in a much better way. It's not helped by the fact Quests 1 and 2 should really just be one quest to keep up momentum, but the series has had issues using it's villains effectively. Having Drakan be hidden away is big and all, but when there's this confusing mess of random underlings below Vanstrom, and then Vanescula and Ranis, the way each person is used feels lessened in impact.

Additionally, quest 4's logic and pathing just feels off, and seems like an excuse to introduce the Blood Altar. Sending you down there, only to kill a few people and start hinting at Safalaan's backstory really felt like a waste, and the crazy hunt for some magically imbued weapon over a few quests, only for Blisterwood to pop up in the next quest also hurt the momentum of the series pretty nastily. While I think BoD is the best quest in the series by a mile, it introduced some elements that really messed with the important aspects of Quest 3 and 4.

Overall, it's such an odd series. While I adore the story especially, it has a lot of elements of being an "old quest" and sets up a ton of complex stuff that unravels almost too easily later on.

I have absolute faith in Rowl*y making a stellar entry in the series though, but I definitely find myself with lots of issues in the earlier installments when going back through them.

Hey guys, with the Myreque quest out of the way, I have a question.

I know the werewolf quest lost the poll, but I was wondering if Mod Ana had said anymore about it. I think she had said something about doing a spin off to focus on the werewolves, I might message her to see if she still has plans for it.

Actually who ever is in charged. I didn't know Mod Ana was no longer a J Mod or at least not a rep.

Nothing, and since she left, I highly doubt we'll get a Werewolf spin-off. I'm personally not really a big fan of the idea either, as I find Werewolves particularly dull and think they don't really have enough room for an entire quest. I guess we'll see if Jagex ever has an interest in it in the future though.

This year has been pretty darn well balanced with quest difficulties actually. We've also yet to have a Novice quest, so I'm not too shocked we're getting at least one. Mazcab has always been open to all levels, as has almost all of it's lore.

So this year's lineup is:

Intermediate, Special, Experienced, Grandmaster, Master. All we need is a Novice and we've had all 6 difficulties in a row without a repeat for the first time EVER. That's pretty crazy! So I am hoping Call of the Ancients is Novice tier.

---

Oh yeah, and thread updated a bit.

- Shifted Call of the Ancients/Tut Island to slots 1 and 2
- Edited the "other quests" list a bit, removing God Sagas since they're not a quest.
- Edited the writeup section on other quests, removing God Sagas, adding Myreque finale, and adding a little bit of Penguin news that I've heard recently. Be aware it *is* a rumor, and doesn't mean we're getting a quest soon, just that writing seems to have been done on it.

Mod Osbourne squealed in tuesday live stream there is a intermediate and novice quest coming soon.

That's probably just referencing the Goebie quest and the Tutorial Island quest, which were confirmed to be around that difficulty level.

Hoping that it's Goebie = Novice and Tutorial Island = Intermediate so we can get the string of 6 quests with one of each difficulty :3

Well got a bit of news!

Tweeted to Mod Osborne, and he has confirmed that the Goebie quest will be a NOVICE quest, meaning we will indeed have one of each quest difficulty in a row! Additionally, he added that the quest's name was actually incorrectly said on the Stream, and it's actually entitled "Call of the Ancestors".

The thread has been updated accordingly!

BTS video is out! Waiting for the text version to see if we get some requirement confirmation for Call of the Ancestors.

EDIT: Updated! CotA will be the first "Bottle" quest. See below for details, from the BTS:

Call of the Ancestors is our first bottle quest. Bottle quests are shorter and smaller in scope, but jam-packed with character, plot and immersion. We're hoping that you'll enjoy these compact quests so that we can make more of them, upping the number of stories that we tell in a given year. More information at RuneFest on Saturday, October 3rd!

I cannot wait for 2016, it looks like it'll be a great quest year and with the introduction of bottle quest it seems like there is a chance for us to get more than what they mentioned at Runefest.

Yeah, 2016 seems stellar! 6 confirmed quests, 4 of which are Sliske's Game, 1 of which is a continuation quest, and 1 of which is a landmark event quest. Then we know there will be Bottle quests, they'll be asking for a Quest for whatever the new Landmass ends up being, and maybe even more.

So that's at *least* 8 quests for sure, with the number more likely landing around 10-12 or so. With the idea of "one large per month" with related content all month too, we're going to see some wicked theming each month to make each month feel like a connected story.

Man am I excited.

2016 looks great so far, loving what they're doing with the quests. Don't forget about the new land mass area/city. If Menaphos win's that on runelabs then they would have to make more desert quests. All in all, 2016 has a great line up.

I'm already prepping work on a Menaphos submission for that, and have three quest concepts ready to submit as well, to go alongside it! Soul altar will play a big part as well.

I'm wondering about all the bottle quests they're making. From the picture they showed there were a lot of bottle quests that are coming next year.

Some may be:
Penguins
Pirates
Monkey (may be part of the desert one)
Desert/Ozan
Pillar
Zenivivia
Ogre
Magic Chicken
Morwenna
Recipie for Disaster

Those characters shown were supposed to be examples of characters that were 'Quirky', I believe.

Well, it is as confirmed as it can be before you get to see it in a BTS or in game... :P. But yeah, you do seem to have space issues xD.

EDIT: You could always just edit the last post of yours on the front page. Add in that the release date is set for 2017, most probably early 2017 as it just missed getting into 2016.

I'll mention that they'd like to do it in 2017. Osborne's tweet reply definitely didn't confirm anything, so we'll have to wait for 2016's RuneFest :p

Whence did you get the information regarding the goebie quest? Also, it's not the first hottle quest. It's just the first in two-ish years.

Nomad's Elegy sounds like it would be good in theory, but terrible in practice. To work with the most interesting deceased characters without restriction, it'd have to require all the grandmaster quests (and obviously Nomad's Requiem), but obviously it won't. Nomad also sounds like his character will be tied into his role in Dishonour among Thieves, which was terrible. At this point nothing makes sense for him anymore. His master was Lucien, but surely he'll have learnt of his demise by now. He needn't worry about Surok, who is incarcerated. He could've easily killed Daquarius in DaT, but didn't. No logical options remain. :(

If the Sliske quests turn out like the void or MotM series, though, that'll be fantastic.

I'm probably most looking forward to the Myreque finale, even though I think it shouldn't be released yet, and the Gower quest.

Goebie info is from Stream, BTS, and Tweets :)

I'm quite excited for Elegy myself. It takes the best of NR Nomad and the best of DAT Nomad and pulls those story threads together, I think. I've wanted him to do something with the Underworld since we saw Death going after him, so this seems perfect :)

Why don't you think the Myreque finale should be released yet, btw? It seems perfect, riding the momentum from LoV, it saves resources by being able to use the current graphical work, and it wraps up a 5th Age story!

+1, but you forgot about the gnomes :(

Hence the (censored...) 'e.g.' I also left out druids, who have been waiting since 2004, monkeys, 2010, slugs (because we all agree SitW should be reworked if resources and manpower weren't restrictive factors), 2011 and penguins, 2012. Then there's Temple Knights, 2011/2013, aaand that's about it., since Drakkerkin were also 2015.

Druid's quest series has been over since TWW.

Monkeys are a mess.

Slugs needs a rework.

Penguins might be this year

Temple Knights are occasional stories.

Desert needs a quest, but could get one this year if Menaphos wins.

And either way, we've been complaining that old questlines need to be finished. They're finishing a questline here, and now a few of you are complaining. Doesn't that seem a bit wrong to you? The devs enjoyed working on the last quest and want to make the quest. The players enjoyed playing the last quest and many want the next quest. They have momentum from LoV to get the next one out. The graphics are up to date, and save budget by not needing to do any reworks.

There is no reason not to do the next Vampyre, and complaining about Jagex taking the time to do continuation quests of the same series does more harm than good.

Just finished listening to the Quests Q&A stage! Additional things we've learned are:

- Ballad of the Barrows Brothers is an Experienced quest.

- Sliske's Endgame is confirmed Grandmaster and will require Fate of the Gods, The Light Within, and Hero's Welcome.

- Myreque finale is EITHER River of Blood or Rivers of Blood, though it's a working title.

- Will feel like some of the older Myreque quests, more sprawling.

- Likely more continuation quests than just Myreque

- Anniversary quest is Novice

- There's also another Master quest lined up. They're aiming for a nice spread of quest difficulties again.

Didn't they also mention One of a kind being a requirement for Sliske's Endgame?

I also hope they make a new quest level difficulty for it, a sort of "Legendary" tier. By the sounds of it, it requires at least 6 Grandmaster quests to start and could have requirements as high as 85-90 in several skills.

EDIT: It is also the end of the Stone of Jas storyline which is a massive overarching storyline in Runescape, plus they are making it replayable with the Deleted Scenes feature and will perhaps be voice acted. It just seems far too important to be considered a regular Grandmaster quest.

Actually just added that right before I saw your post xD

And yeah, Endgame is going to be stupidly high level no matter what! It's going to be absolutely monumental.

Rewatched, yep Barrows will be experienced. Glad we are not going back to the recent anti mid level content dark ages.

Although I did hear the three quests they didn't discuss (Gower quest, Fate of the Gods 2 and Nomad's Elegy) would be a novice, master and grandmaster. You might want to double check before adding to the thread though. I'd assume its be Gower novice, Nomad master and Fate of the Gods 2 grandmaster although Raven said Nomad's Elegy would "probably?" require Nomad's Requirm so that seems odd.

I also wonder if who was speaking had anything to do with who develops the quests. That would leave Stu and Wilson without a quest with two big quest slots up for grabs - Nomad's Elegy and Fate of the Gods 2. I'm leaning to Stu doing Nomad's Elegy as my preference but both are strong developers so I'm sure they will work well whatever they are given.

Yeah, Elegy will likely be both Master, and require NRish skill reqs are pretty much Master-ranked these days, and there's been quests with lower difficulty-tier than a prior quest before. I don't see it as too big of a deal if the reqs are still around the NR tier.

So Gower Rangers = Novice, Ballad = Experienced, Nomad = Master, FOT*2 = Grandmaster, Vampyres = Grandmaster, Sliske's Endgame = Grandmaster. With bottle quests likely being lower level from Novice - Experienced depending on the quest/series (Workshop/Penguin would stray towards Experienced, while a new story straying towards Novice) then we've got another decent slew of quests of varying levels again!

Dragon Slayer rework? It's a superb quest, especially with the rework done by John A in 2007. Sure, it has some issues (duplicate Ned NPCs, Crandor is rather dull and has no traces of the civilisation etc.) but in general it's pretty awesome and a fine 'F2P finale'. Any problems it might have don't warrant a rework, really.

I'd rework Imp Catcher, MPD and obviously SitW given unlimited resources. Ideally, I'd go over every quest to correct lorefails, improve bits of dialogue etc. but eh. :P

Fun fact: when Vanstrom tasks you with finding the Myreque, he says he'll give you a "nice surprise" in the end. Golly.

I would in no way call Dragon Slayer a superb quest. It's mediocre at best, and feels clunky at some times, illogical at others, and lacking throughout. It doesn't need a complete scrap/overhaul, but it needs a lot of work to make it a much better quest. It stopped being a good F2P finale a long time ago, and has almost no interesting lore reflected in the game, and really no valuable rewards anymore either.

It could tell such a great story, and it doesn't.

Specifically replying to this question - I think it's always better to tell the best possible version of an existing story when possible, instead of shoehorning in a "follow-up" to something that is at best mediocre. Instead of just taking a bad story and giving it a sequel, they should make sure the bad story stops being... well... bad.

And Dragon Slayer isn't bad, mind, but it sure is sub par. Aquamancer hit on so many of the points that really bother me about the quest already - it's full of major logic gaps, absolutely illogical puzzle designs, awkward lore when it bothers, and even more awkward storytelling when it doesn't. The visuals don't match the story it's trying to tell, and more of the story comes from exterior source than from within the quest itself as well.

Dragon Slayer is the F2P finale, but we've got a whole slew of F2P quests that are better at storytelling, better looking, more challenging, more puzzling, and more exciting. For those reasons, I firmly believe the quest needs a rework, keeping the same base story, but making it just, well, better.

Back to the Dragon Slyaer discussion, I do see some of your points but those could just be addressed it some small dialogue additions. I suppose what I'm struggling to see is why it needs a full rework. Unlike say mining & smithing, it isn't broken and unlike Romeo & Juliet, it fits the story. Also why dragon slayer? If we are going to go through quests that need a clear up and to be tightened up, there's a bunch I'd put far ahead of dragon slayer. For example, Legend's quest.

Also what free to play quests do you consider better? Only Death of Chivalry beats it.

Quite frankly, some dialogue updates doesn't fix the age of the quest. It's old, looks old, and plays old. It needs some love :P

And better quests? Death of Chivalry, Demon Slayer, Myths of the White Lands, Rune Mysteries, and Stolen Hearts, with ease.

Goebie quest info was largely from streams the Dev Team did revealing parts of it :) It's the first official Bottle Quest, and as such was classified that way.

I'm very excited for Elegy myself. Master level, and will require Requiem and DAT, so both his appearances will be covered. DAT was spectacular beyond one single line for Nomad, either way. And frankly, everything still makes sense for him, even moreso now with the 6th Age. Moving away from the godawful idea of Lucien as his master was such a stellar step up for the story, and hopefully the actual identity of the Master can be something interesting enough to stop people from STILL getting held up on something that was never canon and had too many logic holes to count.

How strange o.O Didn't even realize.

Anywho, *Fussy: As we discussed in-game, there were a ton of holes with pretty much every master proposed. Lucien had his fair share of issues beyond Mod Rathe confirming it wasn't a Mahjarrat, and most other potentials had problems too. The solution for DAT at least gave them some space to work with while moving the story away from Lucien, but I also really appreciate that it accounted for a lot of the inconsistencies in the first quest, from the random White Knights and Arthurian Knight stuff showing up, to the use of Black Knights when they weren't actually controlled by Lucien, but Dark Squall and the Kinshra team. Having it be some sort of traitor playing both sides, and gathering an army of loyalists from both sides seems a lot more interesting to boot.

I agree its looks old but what exactly do you mean by plays old? Again it comes to the point there are also other old quests e.g. Legends quest. Why is Dragon Slayer in its own category of needing a rework?

Death of Chivalry I'll agree with. Demon Slayer depends on what rework you are talking about. The latest one fails the scale of grandeur and battle Dragon Slayer has. Myths of the White Lands is totally forgettable and kinda weak. Rune Mysteries and Stolen Hearts maybe I'd have to look them over. Still this puts Dragon Slayer is the top quarter of free to play quests.

Cuz I'm talking about F2P content that needs to be updated to improve the Free Game :P Once F2P content is all in a great state, then we can start talking member's content.

Demon Slayer's current iteration is stellar, after the dialogue and gameplay rework that went into the original rework. Myths is fun and cute with stellar puzzles. Rune Mysteries and Stolen Hearts are among best in the game, let alone F2P.

Dragon Slayer's a bottom-tier F2P quest, especially when we consider which quests *matter* and which don't, in the grand scheme of things. It's supposed to be some big F2P finale, but just feels underwhelming. An update to the boss isn't just going to solve the issue, nor is just a simple dialogue tweak. The quest has core age issues that really need a rework to fix logic issues, update story, make the gameplay more unique, and to give the quest a stronger purpose and reward.

The bad news is to bring the quest up to date, they are basically going to have to scrap the old code, and build it from the ground up like they did with Demon Slayer, Rune Mysteries, Druidic Ritual, Wolf Whistle and more.
Spiritually, you might get the same quest (you have to slay a dragon), but you probably see a whole new set of mechanics.
And 'm not sure Jagex is big on doing it unless they've got nothing better to do (ha!) or players vote on it thru RuneLabs or Jagex setting up a poll of "hey everyone, we're going to rework and old quest and want you, the players to vote on which 1 we do!"

Legitimately, that's what needs to happen. From the ground total rework, with the general story core remaining in place with Crandor and the three brothers.

Who's to say how many runes she had on hand. Or if she was half/fully drunk and didn't realize she had a goblin horde at her doorstep.
Plus we don't know what the definition of 'powerful' is. She could have been in the 30s or 50s in magic and been considered "powerful"

As for the whole quest, they could just shrug it off as Xenia and others pulling strings.
Yes, Elvarg is troublesome, but Xenia specifically wanted the player (and other potentials) under the general umbrella of the adventurer guilds.
So she bullied the Champion Guildmaster and Ozia** to send you on what should have been a no more than a glorified slayer task. Sure, someone in the Guild would have taken it up, considering how old the job would have been. And the fact that the map pieces were a bit more annoying to get was unexpected.
But in the end, they needed to give you something resembling an entrance exam, and they picked something that would have barely fit their normal criteria. But, it would stil lbe noteworthy enough to "look" dangerous.

But none of that ever comes up in the plot. If it was a part of the quest, sure, that could be better. But it's not, and the quest direly needs something better.

---

Anywho, Gower Quest has been confirmed for early in 2016, and the Tutorial Island quest seems to have two potential names: Tutorialist Island and Tutorialist Reef. They don't really sound like quest names to me, admittedly, but we'll see.

+1

really? those are the names? lol... ya im not feeling them either.

I'd like to think they agreed with us as the name has been changed to Beneath Cursed Tides. BTS is out with a look at it. Thanks for all your help co-operating with us and them to make a better product. The quest isn't out yet and by the sounds of it I'd prefer a little less nostalgia but it does seem to have a basic (although unknown) plot structure at this point which I fear if left to their own devices The Watch would fail at.

From what I know about it, the plot should offer some of the things serious questers were looking for although based on the requirements, I can't imagine it will be very difficult, which is not necessarily a bad thing. They were looking for a good mix of nostalgia and new stuff going into it so I'd like to believe they did a good job at doing so considering they were focused on that aspect.

The mention of trying to rescue survivors has left me quite enthusiastic! That was a big part I was hoping to see from any return to Tutorial Island.

So if not obvious by now, I'm skipping doing video content for Beneath Cursed Tides. I want to, and have a script written, but am injured, and also don't have the time to really get the video done. Considering the quest is coming out in a few days, I'll likely do a post-quest thing (likely a review) instead!

Speaking of reviews, I was chatting with some friends on Twitter, and mentioned the idea of going through all the quests in RS, likely by release date, and doing short (sub 5 minute) reviews of them, in either podcast-y form, or with some visuals in the background.

Any thoughts on that?

Wow, that kind of project would take you a while. 200+ quests and all.
Do you think you would group together some quests like Imp Catcher and Goblin Diplomacy? Ones that your review would probably take longer than it would take to complete the quests

Yeah, the smaller Novice quests would likely be lumped together in a single video!

This would be epic. I always thought that the RS Wikia (for example) was missing a "critical reception" section, like in movies on W*kiped*a. XD

I'd love it though.

The first one is out now! I also put it into text, and posted on these here forums :P

Planning to write and record one or two more tomorrow.

The new RuneLabs Player Power area criteria is live! I've got a Menaphos pitch in there that would hopefully come with a new quest!

Interested? https://secure.runescape.***/m=player-proposal/a=946/view-idea?idea=49043

I liked the Mighty Fall, although I wish they left Zanik alone, her story line needed no more meddling.

But I think that the Mighty Fall requirement is there for a reason, one that we won't know until after release.

Also I am very glad they made both Requiem and DaT requirements.

I fully agree. I thought TMF was overall a very solid quest, and it makes sense to me to include it. I'm just so hyped Requiem is really a requirement!

I agree, I would have been heavily disappointed if Nomad's Requiem was not a requirement. You should also update the information on Nomad's Elegy with the new puzzle piece requirement information we were given today. I'm getting more and more excited for this quest now, I can't wait to battle Nomad once again!

Was just off to update it actually! All finished now :)

Is this MM2 or was that name/concept scrapped? (since DNE was confirmed not MM2 a while back)
If it is, I've been waiting for that one for over 10 years. :P

It is not MM2. This would have been the sequel to Prisoner of Glouphrie.

Is it fair to assume at this point that Nomad's Elegy will be Grandmaster-tier?

Almost absolutely. It requires two Grandmasters and some high level Masters.

From some math, I would predict Rivers of Blood (urgh) in April, Ballad in May, Fate of the Gods 2 in October and Sliske's Endgame in November.

Gower quest is a bit harder to place. It would make sense to stick it between May and October to reduce the quest gap. Or maybe even March? If The Watch only has three updates someone will need to fill in a month.

"Ballad" is confirmed for May, but I agree with most of your calls here. I'm fairly certain Gower is March, with that reward poll and all.

This is my prediction for the quests so far. Along with a few other things.

-Anniversary Quest - April (This may have been for the end of the year, not sure)

Ballad of the Barrows - May as confirmed.

-Fate of the Gods 2 - June or July

- Eastern Lands Miniquests and possibly quest - June - August (No idea what has been confirmed)

-Rivers of Blood - September

- Goebie/Mazcab Bottle Quest, Miniquest or Tales. - October

-Sliske's Engame - November

- Other, they said that there would be chances to choose bottle quests throughout the year, but we haven't seen anything as of yet. If any were added, I would say December or along side other large updates. I think we may have a few Tales throughout the year.

Fate of the Gods 2 will not be until the end of the year, as the team making it is currently making River of Blood, which is likely launching in May or June, as it has to be done before the Eastern Lands. The Eastern Lands will likely not be receiving a quest on launch as that option didn't win the poll.

That really puts out schedule like so:

Gower Quest - April
Ballad - May
River of Blood - June
(bottle quest/blank) - July
(bottle quest/blank) - August
(bottle quest/blank) - September
Fate of the Gods 2 - October
(bottle quest/blank) - November
Sliske's Endgame - December

I'm expecting 2 bottle quests, likely during the summer months made by a team that isn't the Guardians, and likely not by the Watch as they have both Raids 2 and Solo Boss to create for Q2/3 to ship. This makes it likely that the Dukes will produce one of these, and as such it seems kinda likely we could end up with a Penguin quest, as Raven is currently the curator of them, if I recall correctly.

Hmm I figured River of Blood would be in September, but I guess they need to finish it before Sliske's Endgame and what not. I see why they would hold off.

I am thinking we will have a Bottle Quest related to the Strange Red Orb. They said we wouldn't get anymore info on it until the next set of raids.

Is River of Blood going to be needed for Eastern Lands? I see why it would be needed, but they said everyone would have access to it, but people with 90s would have more content. Unless you mean it needs to be finished because it is the same team.

I could see why River of Blood would need to finish up. Morytania is find frozen in the 5th age, other than the Barrows. I would say Sliske's Endgame is in November though. It is rare for us to have a quest in December because of all the Christmas stuff that goes on and what not. December would be a good time for a Penguin Bottle as well.

I mean done as in finished, as the Guardians are making both pieces of content :P

We know they're currently working on it as Mod Stu put up a thread asking for plot threads that need to be wrapped up about a week ago in which he states they're currently working on the quest!

As for December, Beneath Cursed Tides was a December release just this last year :P Brink of Extinction was the last one before that though, in 2012.

News, thanks to Mod Daze on Twitter!

Scrum Team Omega (makes MTX and side projects and includes Mods Daze, Mohawk, and Jack) is doing Gower Quest, and expect to have it out around June or so, which does indeed push River of Blood more towards April/May on the potential schedule!

@Kemtros: Fate of the Gods 2 is a confirmed Guardians project, who will be making the Eastern Lands for the Summer months. As such I don't expect Fot*2 until September or later, but we'll see when the Arc comes out in the first place.

Sequels are always preferable to reworks.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I disagree with this pretty hugely. A lot of old quests have good *concepts*, but bad executions, and a rework fixes those core issues instead of allowing them to still exist and awkwardly continuing a one-off story too.

I am actually working on scripting up a "Top 10 Quests that Need Reworks" video, and the list I'm currently working on currently has four free-to-play quests (that are either standalone or were parts of an otherwise member's series that does not start the series off in a good way). Those four are Imp Catcher, Shield of Arrav, Pirate's Treasure, and Dragon Slayer. 3/4ths are a series quest that are super weak, with boring and basic gameplay, that could set up the storylines they feed into SO much better. Only Dragon Slayer is stand-alone, and I think it'd be better to rework it instead of shoehorning in a sequel - the concept is great, but tightening up the story and gameplay while digging into the lore would be amazing.

Basically, I feel like taking a good idea and making the execution better is a stronger choice than simply leaving the poor execution in place and instead having to make something totally fresh that follows up that content.

The requirements for Kindred Spirits have been announced!

They are as follows:

- 60 Agility
- 60 Crafting
- 60 Herblore
- 60 Smithing
- Missing Presumed Death

It is an experienced level quest. Hero's Welcome is no longer a requirement due to the design of the quest being modified.
