Wonder if the Pirate quest would be a finale?

Right now, all of the characters have been introduced, you have the history of the events, and you have the evidence gathered to show that Rabid Jack's crews are at least up to something. Jack may even be back.

Gathering the captains to take action though may be enough of a quest.
If the developer makes gathering the Captains fairly easy, then it might make the final push to Rabid Jack doable in the finale.

But there is 1 hitch: The Customs and Excise Office.
If the pirates gather, the Customs will take notice.

So maybe task 1 of the sequel is to gather the Captains.
Task 2 is disable, divert, or mislead the Customs Office.
Task 3, get a final lead on Rabid Jack so the fleet knows where to go.

Wonder if the next rank above Proselyte will be an added bonus AFTER completing the Sir Owen quest.

Players have been begging for that update for years.
We've had 5-6 quests involving the Temple Knights since Slug Menace, yet none gave access to that vaunted rank.
Though given that the Acolyte (or whatever the rank) would essentially be on par on with Rune (unless they just recolor Pros armor with +1 to each armor's prayer).

Maybe Jagex finally breaks down and makes it a hidden reward if you've also completed a set of quests and tasks.

Sept BTS out, looks like we are getting the Dwarf quest.
I'm shocked they were able to roll it out this quick.
Either they had a # of developers on it, they shortcutted a few things and used a lot of existing in game stuff and simplified it (reference development of Devious Minds), or they had done a lot more work on the front end before they even released that poll selection.
Quests typically take 6+ months to do. IF the time line is what I think it is .. this took short of 5 for them to do.

Quest dev time seems a lot shorter now. The World Gate quest was estimated to be around 6 months total, which is tiny compared to the old yearish estimates.

We'll still see on what kind of job they did.

Then again, with them done with RS3 and EoC stuff, they have finally lightened up some of the backlogged groups, thus why quests are coming out faster.
Not just a ref to having developers and what not simply avail to do them, but not having a few certain groups jammed on tight scheds reworking the whole bloody game.

Do the "miniquests" count?

Last year we had
- Koscei's Memories
- Hunt for the Lost Ga'al

This year we will have
- Koscei's sequel

The memories "mini" did have a quest feel to it. Granted it was short.
The Ga'al was ... different ... and more lore/story than reward.

Closure to nomad would be nice.
For all we know though, they just make it where he teleported out, started on some new project while recovering, then just as the new quest start, he gets killed off for real by someone else (to pull from tropes: just to show how tough they are since they kill him in 1 shot, show them off as the new big bad, ... )

The Mighty Fall
The adventurer gets to push Yelps off Trollweiss.
Survivors will be shot.
Survivors of the first shooting.
Survivors of the second shooting will be prosecuted and sentenced to the electric chair (or kbd)

Plaugue's End: The adventurer finally exposes the faux plague and is commission to launch a real one at the Iowerth Clan's genetics and that by quest's end, reduces the clan's population to a fraction of their MEP2's numbers.
Unable to maintain the war at their current size, they sue for peace and begin the steady process of being reintegrated into elven society.

Amascut,
Check out the Duke's Blog for Haloween
QFC 16-17-932-65416845

Hallowe'en

We have been tasked with this year’s spooky seasonal update and, in what promises to be a creepy and unsettling quest, the player will explore a huge mansion, built by a wealthy merchant at the start of the Fifth Age, to uncover the horror hidden within! Much like 2008*s Hallowe’en quest, Swept Away, this quest will remain permanently in the game but will be considerably longer and more challenging. More details to come in future…

Hopefully not :| there are already enough Quest Series that really should come to an end first.

I kinda agree with Pentrel.
A few story lines need to be wrapped up.
The Dwarf and now Elf are mercifully coming to an end.
Be nice if the Workshop series met a similar quick conclusion.

There's been a thread up for a log while now on speculation for the Workshop.

The good news is that dev team has been 'done' with the elf Quest.
Elf City is nearing Batch 1 release, batch 2 probably well under dev maybe in QA, and batch 3 partially done.
But the dev teams on it were probably larger than we'd like, and paired with Legacy development, and other stuff, we had little else in the works.

They could do like the stunt for Void Knight, Mahj Mysteries series, and Summer Series where a dedicated team just says ok, we're doing 1-3 quests all at once, sit down, hammer em out and be done with them. And tada the EW Series is done.
Flip side, they could make 1 long quest picking up 3-5 puzzles, finishing the major storyline, then tack on a standard dull post quest skiller thing where the player finishes something like several glorified Cooking Oven or Furnace, and those cover the highest tiered Runes, and that effectively finishes it out. (Think of it like when you build something at a PoH Workbench or Crafting Station)

Be nice if the polls didn't lump the options together like that.

#1 they do
#2 gets slotted in as for certain development
#3 after that

The rest can then get cycled back into the pool.

Avoids getting the same options over and over and over.

I'm guessing that, since Heart of Stone requires Carnillean Rising, the "hero" is Xenia.

We'll find out soon enough why the quest needed Carnillean Rising.
Maybe Phillipe is tagging along as part of his adventuring.
Maybe it is something mundane like 1 of the places we go is back into the sewers of the Carnillean family house.

Well, if folks vote for F61, we'll find out.
Otherwise, we'll get one more Myreque quest.

Personally, I'd rather have the Myreque quest.

Yes, F61 would give a bit of lore, and could finally settle the long debate of just what happened to Bilrach (for all we know, he pull off what Kharshai did, and he doesn't remember that he's Bilrach and he's anyone of a number of NPC*.

But the big question of "what really is at the bottom of Daemonheim" was answered with WE1

Would like to mention that if you count Ballad and River, 7 of the last 15 quests have been related to the undead in one form or another. About 4 or 5 of those have been in Morytania.

Ballad, River, Lord of Vamp, DoD, Dishonor, Nomad's Elegy, and Broken Home.

You could also count Missing, Presumed Death and Death of Chivalry.

The undead are classically an easy enemy to make.
You can easily justify killing them (again)
You can easily make the character powerful in story with them being the remains of some powerful warrior/mage or they get buffed by the necromancer's power. Sometimes both.
A singular undead character might not be a problem except in the moment or if they are established to be something uber strong (Bone/Zombie Dragon, Arra* personally invading somewhere, Morwenna was even a threat for an out of the way place like Ashdale because they didn't have anything in the way of protection)
Alternatively you make the thread of an undead horde.

Plus you get the whole creep and ick factor.

True, it's not an original character to make as an enemy.

Plus with DoD, it might have been about the undead, but it wasn't so much as them as an enemy, but as a way of life (... no pun intended)

so with children of mah and sliske,s end game that will be a total of 6quests this year with a bunch of mini-quests I thought jagex wanted to release like 12 full quests a year?

They did not, no. 12 Quests a year at this point would mean the only content we'd get each month is a quest. Which *I'm* fine with, but most are not.

6 a year, with Quests taking half the Large slots is fine in my book, with several more quests' worth through Tales is a great system in my eyes. Tales are replacing small scale quests anyway.

Honestly, if you look back, how many of the old "quests" were really any more complicated than the mini-quests we got in Tales of the Arc or Tale of Nomad?

Children of Mah officially has a Koschei's Troubles requirement. Hurrah for ROTM being required for a quest!!!

WE HAVE DONE IT FOLKS!

Now we have come full circle, cooks assistant will be required to do the endgame! who knew that the smallest things could change the world

Cook's Assistant -> Recipe for Disaster -> While Guthix Sleeps -> Ritual of the Mahjarrat -> Koschei's Troubles -> Children of Mah -> Sliske's Endgame

MAKES SENSE TO ME.

It has been decreed!

Sliske set this all up? Was Sliske the Lumbridge Cook's assistant that quit at the perfect time?
or did Sliske kidnap the Cook's Assistant and turn him into a Wight? (though given who the assistant was working for, that would still be an improvement in boss and job)

From the sound of it, wasn't the Pirate/Rabid Jack Finale and Evil Dave coming before the end of the year?

I will admit, disappointing how light it's been for quests.
Yeah *something* *something* Menaphos development.
Would have hoped for something in the way of Miniquests or a Tale of something. (depends a little on how you count some of the build up content to Menaphos like the translation to unlocking the Sundial)

On the bright side, Mods Stu and Doctor and the Ninjas have done a nice job on the Quality of Life on some quests an opening up stuff for F2P. So at least there is that.

Looks like I was wrong on my assumption for Pieces of Hate.
Mod Raven mentioned on one of the Reddit threads (not about MTX .................................... ) that it is due out early 2018. No exact date.
So not looking like a Dec 2017 release :(

Was kinda looking forward to doing it on my main sooner, rather than later.

Evil Dave quest has literally hundreds of QA issues currently. Probably going to be significantly delayed.

Pirate finale is scheduled for late February, but if they're already pushing stuff back, we should expect this more like April.

The 'Hellion aura' reward for 2018 premier club, following 2017's Pantheon aura (themed for Menaphos) and 2016's Mahjarrat aura (themed for Sliske's game) makes me think that we might be going to Infernus in 2018, or at least might be getting a heavily demon-themed quest.

Where did you get the delay from?

Sounds like the shift from expansions left a giant hole, so I wonder if they were expecting expansions to account for the bulk of last year's quests, and abandoning expansions meant significantly less quests. So now they're focusing on quests without tying them to expansions.

They've stated in last few dev q&ad's they plan to keep quests smaller in scope. (Ie: more back to the freezer and the recent evil Dave quests) instead of the huge budget ones unless the quest truly justifies it.

Am I the only one who is hyped to the new upcoming quest? Why is everyone else not posting or updating anything yet?

I've not really bothered updating due to the glacial quest pace. It's not that I've lost interest in quests - I'm hyped! I just discuss the stuff we learn on a podcast, The Society of Owls, and spend more time on that than a forum thread these days.

Be understandable after 7 years of this pace. You would be burned out on it too

They have released 2 "elite dungeons" with their own wealth of lore, and a 3rd on the way towards the end of the year.

But development is the core issue:
1 development team has been focused on the mining/smithing rework since last year. we still don't have a definite release date for it
A number of developers have been neck deep in trying to get RS and OSRS mobile out. this was something that was hoped to have been in release months ago. clearly Jagex underestimated what it would take to get it done.
These 2 updates are what are gobbling up quite a bit of development resources.

Mod Orion's dev team was involved in ED1 and 2, they are working on something else, and will eventually do ED3.
Mod Raven's team is the one that did the Pirate finale. They switched gears back in April to work on a skilling update: Player Owned Farms. That is getting released after BXP Weekend. They have likely started dev on something else, but have not mentioned what it is.
