There is a new req for Plagues End, it's Making History, confirmed on Twitter by Osborne.

Really? I wonder how that fortress, from Making History, is going to be involved with the Elves, their city, and the mysterious Dark Lord.

The only thing I can think of was the connection in Meeting History where we saw an elf named Haluned spying on the humans when we went back in time. However that's Making History's sequel, not Making History, so I'm a little confused too. Perhaps the outpost has more meaning than we're aware of. Perhaps we'll find out where exactly this enchanted key came from. :o

Maybe elves just send player back in time to find the lost keys or something to unlock the city, instead the elves of the past ask you to hide something key to unlocking Priffindas in a spot that the player could easily find and dig up when they return to the present, or simply cheat and say "here take this back to your time"

Light year for quests :(

They said this "Large Update" on the last RSTV would likely have 5 items up for poll.
Rite of Passage looks like it's in the Top 5
the Seren Spells/Prayers + Quest looks like it makes it too (unless ofc jagex opts to only focus on the spells and prayers and take the opp to add in a lot of Batch 3-4 Elf Content)
Considering that maybe 1 more quest option would round out the top 5, it's still a bit of a maybe that the winner of this round would even be a quest since Runelabs isn't indicative of the in game votes/polls.

I guess the only way we get in more quests is having quest ideas run the table winning all of the Runelab votes between now and June-Aug. (Not sure a winner in Sep or Oct would have enough time to be developed in 2015.)

On the Werewolf quandary ... Jagex could always just do the classic long NPC dialogue or a diary/history book.

Something from the werewolf point of view about the point in history where they were made subservient to the Vampyres.

Or even go with a Lores/History story in that section like The Old Blood.

Well got a bit of news!

Tweeted to Mod Osborne, and he has confirmed that the Goebie quest will be a NOVICE quest, meaning we will indeed have one of each quest difficulty in a row! Additionally, he added that the quest's name was actually incorrectly said on the Stream, and it's actually entitled "Call of the Ancestors".

The thread has been updated accordingly!

Goebies?

Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies! Goebies!

1) We've suffered from having many quest lines get so stalled over the years because devs would jump from 1 project to another, that in the cases where a dev left (like Mod Tytn) the quest series was effectively dead.
Dwarf story line? Elf/plague?
Story lines that started back in 2002-2005, got a small update in 2009, and it wasn't until post 2013 that dev started and mercifully ended.
The Myreque storyline simply concludes another.
With each hanging storyline completed, frees up the devs to focus on others.

2) We've known that hte "6th Age" and "God Wars 2" story lines would come to an end at some point. Now we're getting it.

How much of a "rework" are some of you calling for on quests?

Are we talking like a few Quality of Life things and removing the tradeable aspect of quests?
Examples:
- Cook's Assistant: They remove the "give egg, flour, milk = done" to making you go visit the 3 spots still but you get a quest item, update quest reward value
- Vampyre Slayer: New specific NPC to start quest, a 1 time save of sort if you die to Draynor
- Earnest the chicken: update quest reward

Something for this would be reworking Imp Catcher to have 4 unique beads for the quest to track down.

Or are you talking about a complete overhaul to the quest, or even outright replacing it?
Examples:
- Demon Slayer, Death Plateau, Wolf Whistle and Druidic Ritual were completely redone from the previous concepts, but kept the names and spirit of what you were doing before
- Death of Chivalry replaced Black Knight Fortress
- What's Mine is Yours replaced Doric's Quest
- Rune Mysteries and Memories replacing the old Rune Mysteries
- Stolen Hearts/Diamond in the Rough replacing Prince Ali Rescue
- And in the most extreme case, Gunnar's Ground replacing Romeo and Juliet

Regarding Dragon Slayer, you have to keep things in perspective:
1) The quest was done so so so long ago, when game mechanics were different and a Green Dragon would have actually been "dangerous" to an average player
2) Herblore and Anti-Dragonfire Potions were not released until well after the quest came out
3) The quest does illustrate what would happen if you unleashed a Flying Fire Breathing creature larger than a main battle tank onto a tightly formed urban area. Can you imagine what might happen if any dragon happened to to get loose in Varrock or Lumbridge or Rimmington?
4) Elvarg was supposed to be a non-standard green dragon. so what made her dangerous vs other dragons could have been the potency/effectiveness of her dragonfire. (for example: while other dragons can unleash a quick burst of dragonfire, she could let loose a more potent and continuos stream)
5) In game time had also passed since the dragon layed waste to the city. It's possible since Elvarg's time, that dragons simply got stronger, while she was static or even gotten weaker.
6) Finally, your encounter with Elvarg was supposed to be early in your adventuring career, not late. So while you defeat a few demons, undead, and a vampyre, you really get to carve a name for yourself as an adventurer by carving it into the side of a green dragon.

Now ... if you really still feel like this is a problem, you can always petition Jagex to up the difficulty of Elvarg so that she level scales or something, so that now she starts out at a level as high or higher than Black Dragons for some players.

The bad news is to bring the quest up to date, they are basically going to have to scrap the old code, and build it from the ground up like they did with Demon Slayer, Rune Mysteries, Druidic Ritual, Wolf Whistle and more.
Spiritually, you might get the same quest (you have to slay a dragon), but you probably see a whole new set of mechanics.
And 'm not sure Jagex is big on doing it unless they've got nothing better to do (ha!) or players vote on it thru RuneLabs or Jagex setting up a poll of "hey everyone, we're going to rework and old quest and want you, the players to vote on which 1 we do!"

Legitimately, that's what needs to happen. From the ground total rework, with the general story core remaining in place with Crandor and the three brothers.

There are players in game who get their magic levels thru teleportation, enchantment, and alchemy. Thus 0 combat xp.
No combat xp, no defense training, nor any constitution xp.

So while she was a powerful mage and 'could' cast Fire Wave a couple of times. She would have still be outnumbered.
Who's to say how many runes she had on hand. Or if she was half/fully drunk and didn't realize she had a goblin horde at her doorstep.
Plus we don't know what the definition of 'powerful' is. She could have been in the 30s or 50s in magic and been considered "powerful"

As for the whole quest, they could just shrug it off as Xenia and others pulling strings.
Yes, Elvarg is troublesome, but Xenia specifically wanted the player (and other potentials) under the general umbrella of the adventurer guilds.
So she bullied the Champion Guildmaster and Ozia** to send you on what should have been a no more than a glorified slayer task. Sure, someone in the Guild would have taken it up, considering how old the job would have been. And the fact that the map pieces were a bit more annoying to get was unexpected.
But in the end, they needed to give you something resembling an entrance exam, and they picked something that would have barely fit their normal criteria. But, it would stil lbe noteworthy enough to "look" dangerous.

Speaking of reviews, I was chatting with some friends on Twitter, and mentioned the idea of going through all the quests in RS, likely by release date, and doing short (sub 5 minute) reviews of them, in either podcast-y form, or with some visuals in the background.

Any thoughts on that?

Wow, that kind of project would take you a while. 200+ quests and all.
Do you think you would group together some quests like Imp Catcher and Goblin Diplomacy? Ones that your review would probably take longer than it would take to complete the quests

No, no, no. Nomad is an anti-hero, i.e. both antagonist and protagonist of his arc. He tried to save the world from his master, albeit in his own insane way, and only tried to kill us because he figured we had been sent by his master. Personally, I'd like to see us forcing Nomad to work with us in the quest toward a common goal. His portrayal in DaT was terrible. On the scale of Hector Vivian he was just "fur teh evilz".

You're under the assumption we knew the full characterization of Nomad.
We know he is more or less Zamorakian.
Now whether he is the "true Zamorakian" like Lord Daquarius, or he is some sort of insane chaotic individual operating under the name of Zamorak who lives for chaos solely for the sake of chaos (like Solus Delgar), hasn't been fully revealed yet.
Now do you really also think that Zamorak would really chastise him for taking an oppurtunity like he did?

One advantage of opening up a city or location with the current runelabs setting, it can shave off some of the development for new quests.
We know 1 reason why Abbinah (avianese) was on hold was because developers would have had to create the world before we could go there to do the quest.
Now, if it does win, they get rid of that particular excuse.
Sure they would still need to make quest specific areas, but now they can do something along the lines of bottle quests, and reuse some of the elements and streamline the quest dev itself a little.

Current titles:
Eyes of Glouphrie
Path of Glouphrie (play on the movie title Paths of Glory)

Possible titles depending on how they do it:
Lord of Glouphrie
King of Glouphrie
Edge of Glouphrie (play on Lady Gaga song)
Dreams of Glouphrie

frankly, you could sub in any [Noun] of Glouphrie if you wanted to keep the theme.

Just want to say to those wondering. If you are like me and hate beacon runs, you went crap when you saw the Firemaking Requirement and All Fired Up.

If I had to guess, we will have to do a beacon run up to 76 Beacon, which is the one in Burthop. You may want to go ahead and fill the beacons. This makes sense. Burthop is the last Beacon for the Humans and other races of the main land. While the ones in the Wilderness are just mean as watcher for the Wild before it is too late if a giant army invades.

I should note that 76 fm is also the required skill level to light Blisterwood Logs.
Maybe we toss Blisterwood Logs into a beacon.
Maybe we get to epically finish off some Vyre general by knocking them into a pile of Blisterwood logs, and then burn 'em to death right then and there. (Double points if the Vyre is a witch.)

On the Desert Series, something of an story order question:
Would the Het and Crondis stories work as semi-standalone (kinda like Spirits of the Elid) quests that then fed back into the Desert Finale?
Or would they absolutely must be the next quests after Do No Evil?

If the stories could be partitioned out, and made on their own, they could in theory do a double quest development, getting both out much the same way as the Rune Mysteries/Memories and Stolen Hearts/Diamond in the Rough.

While you might need one of the earlier Amascut series quests to act as a starting point (so you have some idea of who the Desert Pantheon is), they could both retain a low set of requirements before merging back into the finale.

lol, just thought for 2017 or 2018.
Pirate Finale
Gnome Finale
Rite of Passage
The do a thematic year with the remaining Desert Series and opening up Menaphos

That could in theory, finish out most of the 5th Age stuff, in addition to doing a 6th Age.
Bad news is that it would probably gobble up so many resources that you wouldn't get much else in quest content for the year, and with several large new areas having to be created, wouldn't get much else either.

I kinda doubt Veliaf would die.
Completing the Myreqeu Memorial wasn't listed as a requirement for the quest.

If Veliaf died, that would only leave Ivan as the only person who could fill in the details on the members post quest.

So if you're looking for #14, Ivan is also a possible sacrifice.
There's also that noob guard out in the swamp near Ivandis' Tomb. Mod Rowl*y didn't kill him off in the last quest.

Like you said Amascut, Shield of Arrav is 1 of those with a good simple premise, but because of the co-op play, makes it 1 of the most horrendous quests in the game.
Hero's Quest is probably tied (though I'm sure a few people will rank it a step higher because of the 3 random item fetch but no real plot quest)

The bad news is that to make each quest work, they'd have to rework them completely (maybe something in scale to the Demon Slayer rework?)

And while a redo of Shield of Arrav would remake the whole quest, I don't know if they could do a targeted update of Hero's because of how old it is. They'd probably end up redoing that one as well. Then again, the mechanics for "fetch ice gloves" and "lava eel" are really really basic and not more complicated than we've seen in any holiday, mini-quest, or semi-event.

I'd love to see the mechanic for optional group quests, something like in Dungeoneering.
Take a quest has multiple parts to it, kinda like Desert Treasure.
Your skiller friend could get assigned the part to fetch the molten glass and magic logs.
The quest could even have something the socializer could do. Like a mini-treasure trail (like an easy compass clue) or a part that requires 2 people to easily timed opening doors by standing on pressure plates but there are no traps on enemies. (Player A stands on Plate 1, Player B advances thru door 1 and steps on Plate 2, Player A leapfrogs them to Plate 3, repeat to end of dungeon.) Solo players would have an NPC or Level 1 summoning familiar who could stand in for another player.
There's 1 part that the player/adventurer has to do, but you could sub out the other 3 diamonds to your pvm friends.
Finally, you get to navigate the maze. Or, maybe there could be a boss battle that scales up depending on how many friends you bring with you, allowing for you and up to a 2-4 friends to finish off a quest boss together.
btw, this is just an example.
