Whilst we are on the topic of the last Dev QA, did anyone find it odd how they selected the topic for Goebie quest? I'll repost my thoughts from another thread so apologies if some bits come off odd but indeed the selection process for quests seems odd.

Back on topic, did anyone watch the dev QA yesterday? It did explain how Goebies were selected as the topic for the quest. This struck me as really odd and a quite poor way to do things.

Now it is a medium quest so several quests was never in the running and I haven't been bowled over by the work of The Watch so am not too disappointed this isn't a burning issue quest. But it shows a very odd way of handling topics where there is no weight given to series gaps or outstanding lore questions or even "hey lets run a poll and see what the community would like".

I mean I do think that using a quest to explore the Goebies will be interesting and will shed some light on them but it just struck me as a very peculiar way to do things.

Also this "no sixth age" rule seems to have sprung up again. It just seems a weird and unhelpful way to look at things. I get wanting to have a balance of quest topics and not have everything about the gods. But we never grouped the fifth age this way and sixth age topics like aviansie, Icyene and the Godless have had zero coverage. I'm not saying the quest should have been about them but the sheer fact these areas are completely dismissed off the table at the start seems foolish.

It reminds me of when Helring's idea about exploring the Naragi was high on runelabs and one idea was to use divination to explore Skargorath's memories. Mod Ollie said they couldn't do that as it was a "no gods" month. But I highly doubt Skargorath exploration is on their to do list and it fitted perfectly as a small part of the quest. It just seemed misplaced to dismiss ideas in such a way.

Just posting to see if anyone agrees.

Mod Osbourne squealed in tuesday live stream there is a intermediate and novice quest coming soon.

That's probably just referencing the Goebie quest and the Tutorial Island quest, which were confirmed to be around that difficulty level.

Hoping that it's Goebie = Novice and Tutorial Island = Intermediate so we can get the string of 6 quests with one of each difficulty :3

Well got a bit of news!

Tweeted to Mod Osborne, and he has confirmed that the Goebie quest will be a NOVICE quest, meaning we will indeed have one of each quest difficulty in a row! Additionally, he added that the quest's name was actually incorrectly said on the Stream, and it's actually entitled "Call of the Ancestors".

The thread has been updated accordingly!

I'm super-excited right now, can't wait for Call of the Ancestors!

It's been such a great year for quests so far...

BTS video is out! Waiting for the text version to see if we get some requirement confirmation for Call of the Ancestors.

EDIT: Updated! CotA will be the first "Bottle" quest. See below for details, from the BTS:

Call of the Ancestors is our first bottle quest. Bottle quests are shorter and smaller in scope, but jam-packed with character, plot and immersion. We're hoping that you'll enjoy these compact quests so that we can make more of them, upping the number of stories that we tell in a given year. More information at RuneFest on Saturday, October 3rd!
