Mobile and revert, these are going to save this game. How can you not be excited? If you really care about this game and it's future, you would with out a doubt vote for revert. This game has been nose diving since EoC was released, it's time to stop wasting time and get it back to the golden days. Make Runescape great again!

This kind of dumb crap is why I wish they'd not put that on. Removing EoC would be impractical at best and would outright kill the game at worse, not save it (and save it from what? It's not in decline atm, but you will never believe that). The idiots who refused to even try the new combat system all went off to OS and aren't going to come back if they really did change the combat system. If you want something to point at and say it's wrong, try the rampant MTX coming from TH.

There is a massive portion of the community that is currently playing RS3 that have tons of XP, they aren't going to leave because of a combat change. They enjoy the game, not just the combat. That being said, the combat system has worked much better than the EoC. How many new players are honestly coming to RS3, even though it is advertised as the main game? I imagine more new players are coming to 07 because it is simply a better game than RS3, that being because of the combat system. The best future this game has is with the style it is good at. RS3 with the old combat style would most definitely keep more new players than this current game. Mobile is going to be aimed at this type of game, not the EoC.

There's also quite a decent amount that currently only play, due to being maxed/comped, for the PvM aspect.

You're making quite a few assumptions in this thread though, and I imagine much that others will disagree with.
Whilst you can state your own opinions, trying to talk as though they're facts will always result in arguments.

I'm surprised that the survey asked about reverting combat, but given the strong negative reaction when EoC came in, by daring to put that question to the player base, Jagex is showing it's willing to listen.

At the time EoC was brought in, there were people who had high combat levels, and people who had low combat levels, playing RuneScape. My perception, from what I've read about the events of that time - long before I started playing RuneScape - was that because it was so difficult to earn a high combat level in the game previously, and EoC was going to make it a lot easier, that the people who were upset, some of whom quit playing, were upset because their past hard work would be devalued.

The only way to make this up to them would have been to revert within days of the initial changeover, or, failing that, to restore people's accounts, as they were at the time of the changeover, to an Old School-like set of servers. If there were a backup squirreled away somewhere.

Old School as it is, where everyone starts over from scratch, doesn't solve the problem of pre-EoC work being devalued to be equivalent to much less work post-EoC, and neither does reverting the game now.

Since the game has to grow and expand - and yet it has to be possible to get to max levels within a human lifetime, and it has to appeal to new players - parts of it are going to have to be made easier from time to time to compensate for new content at the top end. The problem can't be avoided by making the game static.

This is a fundamental enough issue that it's worth asking if any other game has ever found a workable way to address it. EoC in RuneScape may have been the biggest example, but I would expect that nearly every long-lived MMORPG would have had the same problem in one form or another from time to time.

Changing back would have a much smaller effect than the first time around and better for the long run.
