Stop giving deadlines of when something is going to come out. You guys show time and time again that you guys can't actually keep to a schedule due to things popping up and due to this you frustrate your players and harm the market. If you just said "yeah we want to do this, it's actively being worked on and we will say a release date when we are 100% set" it would be a lot better compared to now.

Solak goes from December-March-UNKNOWN, Magister 2.0 right here. All that is left are pissed off players, a panic'd economy of items going up/down, and just an embarrassing act. Mod ramen can't just be professional and instead needs to act like the punk in high school who tries to fit in with the other cool kids in school so he doesn't get picked on. He needs to stop being unprofessional and take note on what Chris L accomplished in such a short span of time. All t90 armor and weapons released within 18 months, that is very impressive. Meanwhile it takes 2 years to get t92 crossbows.

Pinning things to ETAs has been a big topic of discussion in the past, but other than the Month Ahead posts (which are things that are finished or nearly finished anyway) they've been a lot better about not being too specific with release dates, haven't they?

Also, while some players might be concerned first and foremost with the earliest release possible no matter the sacrifices, most players recognize that quality and completion of an update are a more than worthwhile trade-off for having to wait a little bit longer.

The topic of ETAs turning out to be too ambitious has been a big one in the past, and so has the topic of updates being released before they're ready as opposed to giving them the time they need. By being more cautious with ETAs in general, and by giving updates more development time as opposed to releasing them unfinished, aren't both things moving in the right direction?

I don't mean that everyone is (or should be) happy about an update being pushed back, because of course that's not the case. I just mean that once an update is finished and ready, everyone will be happier with it as opposed to if it had been tossed out incomplete in order to meet a tentative ETA.

I hope it never comes out unless it becomes soloable.

They should rather start listening to what the players want.

*snort* It's a PvM boss they announced at Runefest last year, and you're getting up in arms about deadlines?

The f***?

Try ANYTHING to do with clans.
Rite of Passage.
Construction Rework.
Fossil Island.
Gnome Finale Quest.

You're worried about a boss that was announced less than six months ago when they still have ANY of these on their docket?

I'm sorry, but WHAT?

Agree, if they hadn't of brought us the bank taster i would be a lot more upset.

It was by far the most requested thing for them to work on and for months their response was all our resources are in mobile.. Blah Blah..... oh here are these other things we seem to have time to work on though. Which BTW arn't the most requested update....

As far as Solak i don't really care if or when it comes out i rarely do boss content and last year had new bosses added so maybe time to lay off the high end stuff.

But to each their own for what they want.

I know its frustrating but its always been this way, and common in the gaming industry. I agree that they shouldn't really give ETAs anymore until they're fully sure; but I feel they're getting better at that.

At the same time, if Jagex doesn't provide any ETAs, players would also be mad. They have to balance both worlds, even if its sometimes going to lead to disappointment.

I agree. There are so many more things to worry about.

I would start off with fixing quality (performance wise) of the game: better optimization, bug fixes - even small bugs matter (and often small graphical ones ruin game play). RuneScape should REALLY need a live beta environment, to root out more bugs on new content and to make sure bug fixed actually work, before they hit live.

Then move into reworking Citadel almost entirely. This place has so much potential.

Next I would work on bringing more skills together and giving the game more DIY options. Crafting and Fletching need Mining & Smithing style rework. So people could have chance to craft or fletch high(er) tier armours and weapons themselves. Right now everything's from drops and these skills get barely any use.

Lastly I would work on adding new bosses, weapons, quests, etc.

PS: Also agree with OP on the deadlines thing - no need to rush out yelling dates, when 50% of the content is not finished.
I don't trust easily, so when I tell you I trust you, don't make me regret it.

To be fair, in the case of Solak I know more people who are glad to see it delayed than angry, as you claim, but that's a different story entirely (Yes, this is about it not being soloable).

If there is a reasonable expectation that something can be released at x time, they should say so. There's no problem with this and for the most part they do manage to stick to their predictions. Honestly I think half the issue is players getting so angry when something goes wrong and they can't get an update released when they said.
