In the recent Dev Q&A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l62GIGmk2bA a topic was brought up near the end of the stream at 46:19 about something called the Evolution of summoning the way the mods, particularly Osbourne responded to this made me think is this a possible leak of what is to come at RuneFest in just a few week?

idk, but he mentioned combat in the same sentence, and Jagex has been continuously leaking hidden messages or punchlines about combat revisions. It wasn't mod raven, the master of all indirect punchlines, but I feel like the other mods have been capable of expressing their abilities in it. Maybe it's a british thing?In fact, if I remember correctly, they bumped combat to the second event on runefest.

There was mention of doing an Evolution of Summining type thing way back in 2012 when EoC first came out but it never really taken place and as such a was forgotten about but there was deffo talks about it.

It's simple really...

Ya got invention... components etc... Ya mix em all up and make mechanical familiars, Bandos Plate Armored Yak, or Drygores Bow Steel Titan o.0 Make all familiars mechanical, add perks, done.

+Summoning attack bonus perk for regular armour.

All other skills get to train invention - how about summoning? Easy. You train invention by making mechanical familiars and using them training them up by using scrolls, to level 15 like rod-o-matic or whatever and then use disassemble familiar and get some invention xp.

IMO, ya can't just buff summoning back to it's like, good old days, where steel titan practically 1 hit anyone... it's nerfed, everyone knows it. I'm happy to hear there's talk about making summoning updated, but i want it updated with something cool, like a fully grown fighting dragon pet or something similar, jad pet or heapsa pets fighting with special attacks like dragon dp++ (baby dragon pets got to grow up one days.) but until such time that happens, mechanical familiars and summoning attack bonus perks will be fine. (After pets fighting can we please have undead summoning - like ancients is to magic. A whole new summoning undead obelisk when u have to run through a dungeon or something to get there and eat like 10 shark, make ur pouches and get out. Undead Summoning for levels 75-120.

That's my dream for summoning anyway, thanks for reading.

-Ancients Summoning (maybe u need magic for this, idk... We've got elite skills, how about elite mini games - that Dungeon I was talking about. ya eat 10 shark while running through if you're good, otherwise you die. Elite mini game, making the ancient pouches.)

^That is.....actually a really good idea lmao even though it would make combat vs PvM even more overpowered, but I would still love it to be implemented. It makes it more engaging with a familiar almost like playing a solo rpg game - if that's not what rs3 already is XD.

EDIT:: it could also be content for summoning levels between 80-120.

The J-mods response to the question does seem very suspicious, unfortunately it's hard to say. Option 1 is that they weren't sure if they could spoil it or reveal it, or how to answer the question, and option 2 is that they felt that way because they truly had no idea about it, nor knew if someone else does. Similar thing came up with construction, a question about its rework was 2nd highest on the reddit Q&A, yet they chose to ignore it and not address it at all, which again could either mean they don't want to answer 'no' or they are working on it and don't want to tell us. I'm sure RuneFest will have some answer to both of these, regarding the possible change of Summoning though, as a big fan, I'd love to see some updates.

Steel Titan isn't as strong as it used to be, true, but that's fine by me. Spirit cape and auto-fire/etc make it nearly just as useful as back then. The general training of the skill is fine too (only issue I have that many people get it as a by-product of combat, not because they actually enjoy it - but that's my personal beef with it). What I would however like to see, is more content, familiars, and gear.

The last familiar we received was nearly two years ago (Pack Mammoth) which in itself has some problems. Why not create the different styles of combat for familiars, to have more optimisation when it comes to which familiar to use, e.g. multiples of steel titan,.. Nihils (and rarely demons) are used here and there, but why not make more of a choice?

Spirit cape was an amazing addition to summon in my opinion, but unless you have comp. cape then it's not really worth using. Allow it to be joined into other capes and so on.. Enchanted head-gear is so outdated.. Make the higher-tier helms be able to do that too. (Helms auto-fire which you can do now, but they also have a chance to reduce the special points used up to 0). - Make more gear that's usable and relevant.

Since when are pets no longer related to Summoning anymore..?

It has occurred to me that if this was going to be an announcement at Runefest this year it be bit of a bad move by Jagex as there hole theme is "Unfinished Business" which obviously relates to finishing old project not yet complete.

If they where to turn round and say were gonna start spending lots of Dev time overhauling an old skil as well as finish all these old projects, well it seem a bit fool hardy to me.
