And also, I was too excited about this that I accidentally posted a similar comment to that thread, without reading the part that the thread was only for posts applying for the playtesting. Sorry about that, Mod MattHe. I second this. I've been playing this game off and on for 12 years now and I absolutely love this!
Why is it that gaining virtual levels changes the top number as well as the bottom? If you get a stat buff or debuff at level 99 the skill will show, say, 116/99 or 78/99. The top number is what affects you while the bottom still shows what level you have gotten the skill to.
Since virtual levels don't have any effect in game should a virtual level of 100 not show 99/100 on the skill? That says "the skill has been leveled to 100 but only 99 levels have an effect" just as the debuff being represented the way it is says "the skill has been leveled to 99 but only 78 levels have an effect."
I feel this would help make it clear that virtual levels don't help you in any way because at the moment look like a real level up and I can understand why so many questions come up about them.
If I had a strength virtual level off 116-120 and drank an extreme strength I wouldn't be able to look at my skills to see what level the potion is bringing me to; I would have to look at the buff bar and do some quick addition. While it's easy and makes little difference I'd personally rather just look at my skills tab.
