Trying to remove an authenticator.

So, I click remove and hastily didn't read the message saying to check my email. I thought it'd just be removed. Figured I must have missed something and went back through the process again and actually read the dialogue box this time. Ahh okay, now I get it -- this part was totally my fault. So, I go to my email and click through the link.

However, after that both links are invalidated. I request to remove the authenticator again and now the website isn't processing my request due to "a large number of requests".

First of all 3 isn't a large number.

Second of all I didn't write the code that makes all previous links invalid. I don't see how that would help the process at all.

I understand this is an anti-spam/anti-hacking measure but 3 requests is simply ridiculously small. It's entirely possible to restrict people who are doing nothing wrong with such a low limit.

I think it should be increased to at least 5.

Additionally, it should be possible to use the authenticator code more than once. For example, authy desktop and mobile app. 2FA devices get lost/broken and it should be allowed to insulate ourselves against that inconvenience.

As it is, I have to sit here and wait for however long (it doesn't even say) until I can move my authenticator to my new laptop. Very annoying.

Would you rather have a secure system that protects your account very well and is a bit harder to remove by yourself, or a shitty system that any hacker can easily remove?
I choose the former.
The RS Wiki needs a hand, and Bwian's will gladly take the rest of your body!
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Agreed.

Id suggest against removing auth.
