Big plans don't always mean future implementation.
Also, I'm curious to know how many of those posts were considered spam or other categories that warrant being hidden. The beauty of a post hiding system is that it still counts the post as a post (in most cases I've seen, may be different here but I doubt it). The fact this was posted on another platform should speak volumes about how much they care about the RSoF. There's been a call from forumers for as long as I can remember to have the forums grow alongside the game.
We've gotten a very basic signature system, a complex (but not user-friendly) image uploading system, 11 BB codes, and a visual change that is still clunky and mobile unfriendly. On the reverse, we are still bound by 2,000 characters, cannot send/receive private messages, can't change topic titles, have limited avatar access, no integrated reporting system, limited JMod response, and one guy in the W and F forums who's apologetic about not being able to help despite him stating he would love to be able too.
The response by Balance is just another "we don't actually care about the RSoF but will pretend we have something more in store than generic promises and ideas that will go long forgotten." At least he acknowledges that the forums need work. Will we ever see it? Most likely not.Twitter : @rsollivander |

The user counter is bugged and doesn't work properly. Bunch of the stuff on the page you can click and it won't register you as active. So its not reliable to use.
Would be nice if they manage to get forums redone before we land on Mars in 2035 but I'm not too hopeful on that front. With Mobile coming out it looks pretty bad to have outdated forums that are rough to use on phones, have to zoom in etc and not very pleasant.
I doubt they'd bother with that plan as people need account access stuff they can only get here and not thru reddit. Update stuff is honestly the only reason I still use this site despite how pathetic its features are, text is still text I guess.
Mod Balance knows the importance of community engagement and how big a part of it the forums can be if they were actually to cater to the needs and wants of the community (even in the age of social media), so here's hoping that this is not just hot air! I guess only time will tell, though. If they do follow through, I hope they are transparent with us: tell us what is currently limiting you from making the changes you want to, and please engage in an ongoing, open dialogue with us by giving us timeframes, asking for feedback and discussing potential changes with us before you unilaterally decide they are good and implement them.

I mean, you're right, they have said that before, but in my experience it's usually been followed up by "...and that's why we can't/won't do anything right now." I feel that when you get to the point where you have to call your own software rubbish, you know something needs to be done, especially in light of something like Mobile. Like I said, though, I guess only time will tell whether they actually go forward with anything.
