Add a green light to a forum avatar whenever they are online and a red light whenever they are offline. I don't see any negatives to this. This would help forumers know when a fmod is online so they don't ask them for help and they're sleeping. And we could also know when a forumer you're talking to is sleeping so you don't waste your time.
I like the plausible deniability of being able to say I didn't see a message if I don't have the time or willpower to deal with it at the present time. I'm sure many people do similar on smartphones where they'll read a message in the phones notification pane without actually clicking to open the app so the other person doesn't know the message has been opened.
I don't think the forums are active enough for this to have much benefit but it potentially has plenty of downsides IMO.
Support only if it can be a toggle. I can see the benefits of it and know some people would like this feature, but I don't want to be forced to have a feature like this. I prefer to lurk more than ever now as I do in-game (I never turn my PM on now), and if people do want to contact me, they can do so on Discord and I'll respond when I see it.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.
Don't need to know, let's keep our privacy. If someone wants to mention them being present than please post some nice posts / discussion posts / suggestive posts but don't suggest something to let others know "hey I am online". What people do do for a bit of attention these days, yuckkk .....
I remember when one would be able to identify which Moderators (F-Mods/J-Mods) were online by clicking on the "Forum Mods" list. This feature was blatantly abused so it was removed. Apparently, forum users would keep watch on the Moderators to make sure they were able to break the rules without consequences.
Personally, I wouldn't want to show others when I am online; however, I support this idea if it had a toggle. One should have the option to choose if they wish to show their online activity to others or not. As for Moderators, considering what happened in the past and the current Forums traffic, I don't believe it's needed.
