Hi there :)

It's been a hot topic for a while, but I find that most agree that the official forum here could use a fresh lick of paint.
I am no exception to this majority, and as an infrequent user of the forums, I'm going to leave a little bit of (mostly negative - though I'd like to call it constructive) feedback in the hopes that one day, players would prefer this over other 3rd party platforms to post stuff on!

I feel like one of the biggest turn-offs to using these forums is the structure.
No offence to whichever poor Jmod that programmed it, but over the years, more and more sections have been introduced, leaving a huge jumble of categories which our every-day player must sort thought to find what they want.
My personal remedy to this is to just combine as many categories and subcategories as you can, and perhaps even remove some so players who, for example, wish to post on the OSRS forum section won't have to scroll down half-a-kilometer to find their community forums. :P

The fact that I am required to log in (and re-log in) every time I visit the forums from an external link is quite frustrating. I can understand this is an important security feature for the entire RS site, which has your account page, clans, precious runecoins (*Solomon Gasps here*), and specialist forums for some, but for the average user who would like to follow a QFC, and drop a quick reply, this is far more than inconvenient.
I know Jaggy isn't a big fan of automatic log-ins but perhaps just for the regular forums to allow players to leave their accounts online, without having to type in their password again would be an awesome improvement.

I feel like Jaggy are encouraging their staff to check forums more, at least from what I saw during my last visit, but usually, when a player wants to ask a question to a JMod, first platform that pop into their head is usually either Twitter or Reddit. Because that's where JMods are active right?
It would be amazing if we had a similar experience with the RSOF too, and this is self explanatory; if your official game devs aren't using their own forums, then why should we?

Now that's all for my negative comments (for now, don't want to spend the next week writing this post lol), and here comes some good ones!

- Those cool dudes with the green glow, they're pretty nice :)
- Though the theme is a bit dark, I quite like the clean slate backgrouds.
- There's a place for everything, though like I have said before, to many categories is bad!
- Patch notes and official announcements are usually posted here
- I thoroughly enjoyed the little seasonal activities put up here and the snow effect that came with it!

If you made it all the way here, congrats! You have 99 patience! lol
I feel strongly that these official forums should be the place where our RS community comes together, but players like myself are reluctant to use it, partially because of the issues listed above. I write this in the hopes some JMod sees it and decides to do something, otherwise, I fear it'll be another month until I find the time to check forums again.

Too long, didn't read?
- Forums has too many categories,
- Need to log in every time -> Annoying!
- Force Shauny to use forums >: ) (Joking haha)

Thanks for reading! :D

EDIT: A lot of typos (And even more!)

EDIT EDIT: I quote myself:
"
Something I did forget to add though: Being able to see our read topics, and being notified when we have a reply!
Perhaps if we could "follow" a thread that we've commented on then we'll know when to check back to see what others have said.

Hi Mueez

Great to have you around - and great to see you sharing your thoughts, too!

Do you think you would be using the forums more if what you mention was addressed?

If no, what, do you think, would make you check the forums more often?

Cheers

InGame:
On the Ribbon, click Compass tab;
bringing-up Adventures, click Featured;
bottom-right, click Forums-Join Discussion.

Brings you straight here. No logging.

Did not work for several weeks but, seems to have been sorted.

I wasn't going to hang around in da wildee and chat, Mueez. Not when I was carrying 250 bloodwood bolts. Goodness! There might be scum bag pkers like me around.

But yeah. Agree with everything you have said.

Therefore this thread has been placed under the protection of
CLAN GRIEF

So any attack on this thread shall be considered an attack on clan Grief. Which will result in a state of
WAR
being declared! Woe betide anyone foolish enough to wage WAR against clan Grief. You will find yourselves severely outnumbered by all two of our alts!

I would love to see features like these implemented.

I really hope Jagex will eventually release an updated version of these forums.

I was a really frequent user, then my activity dwindled. For me seeing the lack of forum upgrades and eternal empty promises just put me off. Reddit at least feels more lively but yeah the discussion is very different. I think trying to change the forums for the better became a lost cause for me so I left. I still believe with updates more people would use it.

Hey @
Corugi
, awesome to see you again! lol
Appreciate the clan protection too... err I mean... un-protection! :D

@
Mekx
, glad to hear you like it!
I too have my fingers crossed, it would be awesome to see these updates in the near future!

@

, I too have used Reddit for a while, but agreed it feels different! People here generally seem nicer, and honestly, not actually a big fan of the downvotes system.

Mr/Ms Website dev, please read us!!! lol
