Hello everyone, as the Forum Moderation Review thread is in a state of neglect again, I am proposing the following measures to properly reflect the current situation in the forums:

1. For Fmods and Lmods to refrain from mentioning FMR as a form of recourse for regular forumers;

2. For Fmods and Lmods to indicate to regular forumers that Fmod or Lmod decisions are final;

3. For the FMR thread to be closed for the time being as its existence is redundant.

To be clear: I am not advocating for the above because I support these measures, instead, my intention is for forum moderation to be pragmatic and in touch with reality.

As the situation currently stands, asking for regular forumers to post on FMR is akin to giving them false hope, and informing them that a Jmod will review their situation is akin to lying to them.

All this is intended to be temporary, until the Lmods are given Jmod powers and access to the FMR thread, or when a Jmod will be able to review FMR regularly, whichever is sooner. When that happens, it will be appropriate for Fmods to once again refer forumers to FMR. This, of course, is based on the assumption that FMR will now be reviewed on a regular basis.

Should anyone else have any other ideas on how to have forum moderation better reflect the situation in the forums, please do provide your input here.[/quote]

I suggest FMR to remain open but the Lmods can recommend the FH users they can still use FMR but they may not get further reply from a Jmod so be advised just to move on from the issue.

Yes, this would seem a sensible course of action tbh.

Jagex will have known in advance that Mod Lee was not going to have his contract renewed (known for quite some time since these matters are decided well in advance) and yet did nothing to see to it that his duty as Curator of FMR was picked up by anyone else.

One can assume from this that they are either oblivious and will remain so, or they have no intention of taking timely remedial action and appointing a new Curator. If they ever do so, since anything to do with the RSOF appears to be total anathema to Jagex.

In all likelihood the FMR will be defunct for some time to come - remember the lengthy hiatus prior to Mod Lee picking up FMR? - so it does seem absurd to direct forumers to use that (non)facility.

I can't imagine thumbs will ever be removed from arses in order to give the necessary permissions for the LMods to take it over (how long as CM Nick been waiting?) so it might as well simply be removed.

Support.

Though I'd prefer to see the FMR system moved over to the community inbox. The L-Mods have access to the community inbox. It seems like the more logical option to me. This would also allow folks to ask for a review even when they cannot access the forums.

So long as a thread remains to direct folks to sending in an email, and stating that responses are guaranteed, will mitigate any issues with reviews going unchecked.

I won't say FMR is in a state of neglect since it has only been 2 weeks since the last time a Jmod replied there.

I rarely used FMR (like 2 or 3 times in all these 18 years I used the forums) but I think it still serves its purpose even if Jmods just read the reports but don't have time to reply.

Although one-way communication is not better than 2-way but it is still better than no communication between forum users and Jmods. I suggest FMR to remain open but the Lmods can recommend the FH users they can still use FMR but they may not get further reply from a Jmod so be advised just to move on from the issue.
