CLAN RANKS:

Ranks are an integral part of the clan chat. Since we are a public clan chat, we need a sense of stability and enforcement. Below is a breakdown of the ranks and what is needed to become a particular rank.

Gold Star (General)
- These are the key figures and owners of the clan chat. They have spent numerous hours recruiting, bumping threads, answering questions, and have been with the clan for as long as anyone else can remember.

Silver Star (Captain)
- These are the V.I.P.s of the clan chat. They are credited with sacrificing a lot of their free time to aid others in the clan chat. These are the especially active members who are constantly assisting newcomers, hopping around recruiting members, and monitoring the clan chat. Captains have the ability to kick.

Bronze Star (Lieutenant)
- These are the dedicated members who have also spent many hours advertising and promoting the clan, answering questions, offering advice, and overall, being active and a positive piece of the clan chat. To be promoted from a Sergeant to a Lieutenant, you must have been referred by a Captain or General. Lieutenants have the ability to kick.

Three-Stripes (Sergeant) - These are the members who have decided to work hard by offering advice, supporting our home world, and overall, following the rules and being active. They have made friends and have a positive reputation within the clan chat. Currently, Sergeants have the ability to kick.

Two-Stripes (Corporal) - These are members who stand out as being active, always in the clan chat and home world, and helpful to newcomers. It isn’t hard to become a Corporal as long as time is taken to offer advice, invite others, and sit in the clan chat, being active.

One-Stripe (Recruit) - Recruits are the first promotion given to active members who show signs of determination and helpfulness. Recruits often help newcomers and participate in the clan chats, branding their name and becoming recognized. Recruits are unable to kick rule-breakers but are on their way toward promotions.

Smileys (Non-Ranks) Smileys are members of the clan who have introduced themselves on our offsite and then PMed me. Smileys are those who have shown interest in the clan and are on their step toward promotions.

Un-Added (Newcomers) These are new members in the clan who have recently joined, not interested in a clan rank, or are debating whether or not they want to stay in the clan chat. As soon as they make a decision and want to become a part of OSRS Advice, we welcome them to introduce themselves to the clan on our offsite. Afterwards, they can PM me for a Smiley.

--

All ranks are to be earned. It will take hours of determination and dedication to the clan before promotions will come. Please DO NOT beg for promotions, as that will slow down the process. To be promoted, you may need recommendations from higher-ranked members, so be active even when I am not on.

Testimonials:

" I joined the clan a month ago, very skeptic of the actual maturity level. After saying my first hello, I was warmly welcomed by a large portion of the online members, so I knew it felt like my new home. The ranks within the clan chat are very active and it is definitely a place where I was able to learn and grow. Fast forward to today and I have been blessed with the chance to serve as a rank and help other newcomers who are just starting their journey!” - Jamopolis

--
“Good People, Good Advice, Good Times. Great Clan Overall!”
-Dollar Menu

--
“I found this cc on the forums, and have been here for 2 weeks to check how people act, and if they want to help, and they all wanted to help. I would say 5/5 stars. And people are mature as well!” -Fat Lazy OP

--
" OSRS ADVICE IS AWESOME” - Potted

--
“Came for the advice, stayed for the community. I’ve been in OSRS Advice for about two months now, the entire time, the community has been a real blessing.” -Oske

"OSRS Advice is AWESOME! Everybody is helpful and friendly anytime a clan member needs anything! - Silverfrost9

--
"It's a very friendly clan chat, in the first few seconds I was welcomed and started to socialize with the other scapers in this clan chat. Very nice people, maturity level is definitely at a high-level on the boards, and there is a considerable amount of ranks that watch over the clan chat to make it a safer community for other players.
The rules are extremely perfect, including the fact that there is no drug/illegal activity talk within the chat which excites me!" -Barcarella

10 REASONS WHY WE DO NOT HAVE A TEAMSPEAK SERVER NOR WILL GET ONE:

1) Advertising websites is against the rules of Runescape. Since Runescape cannot moderate the content being put out on third-party platforms, the promotion of those sites are prohibited.

2) It is enough work managing the clan chat we have, so expecting the ranks we have to monitor an off-site communication platform is absurd. These ranks have been promoted based on their maturity and contribution to the clan and are by no means responsible to partake in monitoring a third-party platform.

3) The use of the third-party program has a real-world fee. It would be silly to think I should pick up the costs and use real life currency to ultimately break the Runescape rules.

4) Logically speaking, there would also be way too much noise. People would attempt to talk over each other creating a room of spam and chaos. We are a larger clan, and to give everyone the chance to speak would be overwhelming. Limiting certain members would be discriminatory and unfair.

5) You joined this clan for the SOCIAL aspect in a RUNESCAPE CLAN CHAT. I am sure there are other clans out there who support this third-party program, but WE DO NOT.

6) Ultimately, it would divide the clan between the 'Chatters' of TS and the 'Typers' of Runescape. Those engaging solely in typing would be lost if the 'Chatters' brought their subjects or topics in the clan.

7) Depending on who the host or moderators of TS are, your IP addresses are vulnerable. This can lead to location exposure, DDoSs, Real-World targeting, and potentially hacking.

It may lead to competition for power, speech, or ego. It may be the case that only a few people would dominate the server, leaving many of the listeners frustrated.

9) From the owners of other clans, and talking to them, the common consensus is the largest mistake they made was to open a TS server.

10) The clan is a democracy and most are against it.
