I don't understand why you all seem to have this obsession with money sinks.

OSRS isn't in a state of inflation, as far as I can tell. I decided to check the GE graphs on various items, and while there are a select few that have gone up, there are just as many that have dropped in price, and many that have remained stable.

So, as far as I can tell, a money sink is unnecessary. Actually, as far as I can tell, "money sink" is a buzzword that the forums are obsessed with for no defensible reason.

It only stays "stable because the items keep coming in, but once it gets so far then we will be at a point where bcp and tassys are 1m each, whip is only staying up in price BECAUSE of the whip sink that kraken tentacle brings.

I don't think you understand your own argument.

An item sink has the opposite effect of a money sink. The whip stays up in price because there is an item sink. Other things will tend to go down in price because there is not.

Adding a money sink into the game increases that effect. If you are worried about BCPs and tassets costing only 1m each, you should OPPOSE money sinks.

Money sinks tip the scale towards deflation. Deflation means that gold will be more valuable relative to other things, which means that it will take less gold to buy the same items.

Inflation is the opposite. If you want BCPs and tassets to retain their current value (in terms of GP), there will have to be some amount of inflation.

TL;DR: You don't seem to understand the purpose or effect of a money sink, and inadvertently argued against money sinks.

Absolute rubbish @ Clawdragons.

Its common sense that the more items come into the game over time , ( by high alching , drops ) , - and the more items that supersede older items through updates such as raids , - means that the MORE GOLD that comes into the game over that same time period leads to a greater number of players have an increasingly large purchasing power.

The G E needs a TAX.

And a TAX that not only takes a percentage , - but also a percentage that is greater on expensive transactions.

And the reason for that is ALL money / gold - IRL or RS , - is a unit measure of TIME in productivity.

Hence those that spend their time week after week skilling for lower value items need a more lenient TAXATION than those who boss for an hour and make ridiculous millions .

100% against this.

As I'm sure most people would be, as most people are only concerned with getting the stuff they want as fast as possible and don't care about the economy regardless.

Care to explain why, at least?

No support. Just revert death mechanics or add an npc that you need to pay 10% of the ge value of items dropped on death to get your items back. Then add item and gold sinks. If PVMers stop doing everything in maxed gear with zero risk we'll see an improvement in the economy. If you don't like a game, don't play it. If you don't like certain content, don't play it. If you are unwilling to compromise don't beg companies to sacrifice profits for you.
Under promise, over deliver - a concept that is apparently very hard to understand.
