reposting this for osr

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throwing_stick

Irl one of the earliest weapons humanity had was the throwing club or throwing stick, basically it was a piece of wood that hunters would throw at small animals, it was a simple yet effective weapon

I would like to propose that throwing clubs be added to runescape for both f2p and p2p

Basically my idea is this, you use a knife on logs and from each log you can craft 5 throwing clubs, they are stackable and are a thrown weapon.

The advantages of this weapon would be as follows

1. they would be very easy and cheap to make for players, you just use a knife on logs and thatĺs it, no feathers or smithing required
2.additionally it provides an alternative for woodcutters who donĺt want to drop every log in their inventory or bank or trade them or burn them or make them into arrow shafts, they can instead just craft some clubs and gain cheap weapons and some xp,
3. great for giveaways for new players
4. Ideal for cheap ranged training and for people who donĺt want to use the chargebow
5. They could be added as a cool new hunter item and tool for current or new hunting targets

The disadvantage of the throwing clubs are as follows
They are quite weak since they are just wood you throw, they are even weaker then darts or knives, maybe they are half as strong as darts or knives or even a third as strong
They have a range of 6 and a speed of Average (3.6s) so not too far of a range and sorta slow
They are weak even at high high levels so using them on nex is not ideal, they would be best for training ranged for low levels or medium levels and for players with low cash

To make them it could be part of the fletching skill for p2p or crafting skill for f2p, they would give ok xp but again is meant for alternatives for woodcutters

The throwing clubs would follow the usual tier system for wood and maybe use the crossbow stock as a base for what level you need to wield them

thoughts, suggestions?

They could hit based on the opponent's crush def rather than their ranged def. Always loved that kinda thing. Support.

Then that would basically be melee-at-a-distance.

No support, since it would stack against the dynamics of the combat triangle.

it'\s not supposed to be melee at a ranged, just meant for new ranged option, might be cool new option for undead ogres though

You should be able to make them with EVERY kind of log-teak, redwood, sulliuscep, achey, arctic pine, etc.

Ranged already has a massive amount of weapons.

Long Bows

Short Bows

Darts

Throwing axes

Javelins

Chin chompas

Crossbows

Blow Pipe

Throwing Knifes

Compound ogre bow (for blunt)

Probably more that i forgot.

Ranged does not need any more weapon types.

Plus ranged gear for low level players is VERY cheap....they don't need a new alternative because theres many out there already.

from the other thread

Being self-sufficient is entirely what an ironman account is about for example, and just having to find a nearby tree (which are practically everywhere) when you run low on ammo rather than having to find a mine, then a place to smelt/smith, etc is really nice.

this is also great for new players as trees are everywhere and they can just cut down a tree, use a knife on the logs and get very cheap and very quick way to range

Nah...bronze arrows are NOT hard to make....or buy from an NPC...within an hour on my ironman i had like 2,000.

There is no need to cater to people who can't do the basics of smithing and fletching.

Or even the most simple of PVM for money.
