From Wednesday 10th at 00:00 GMT (Game time) until Monday 16th October at 23:59, win only yellow rarity prizes or better on Treasure Hunter!

That's right! This week the Golden Glow magic has settled and as a standard you will see all white prizes on the ticker be replaced with yellow prizes!

Continue playing and you may see all the prizes on the ticker go up to a minimum of orange rarity, or even a minimum of red rarity.

Enjoy!

What is Treasure Hunter?

Treasure Hunter is playable from within RuneScape, allowing players to use Keys to claim in-game items as prizes. These range from useful resources to rare weapons and exclusive gear.

Playing Treasure Hunter is simple - click the treasure chest icon that pops up when you log in. If you've not played before, just follow the on-screen guide.

Everyone gets at least one Key per day, and RuneScape members get two. You can earn more Keys while playing the game, or stock up by redeeming Bonds.

If you'd like more, you can also buy Keys on the website, or by clicking 'Buy Keys' within the Treasure Hunter interface in-game.

If the minimum gem rarity goes up will the odds to get a purple chest go up too or does that remain unchanged?

The way it's worded here, chance for purples should remain the same regardless of what the minimum color is. E.g. as demonstration, if the odds are currently this:

50% for a white
25% for a yellow
12,5% for an orange
10% for a red
2.5% for a purple

Then at the start of this promo, it'd be like this:

75% for a yellow
12,5% for an orange
10% for a red
2.5% for a purple

And at orange minimum:

87,5% for an orange
10% for a red
2,5% for a purple

And finally the highest tier:

97,5% for a red
2,5% for a purple

Because let's be honest, they'll never noticably increase your odds for a purple, since they want the maximum amount of gambling.

Let's say the following:

Purple = 0.1%
Red = 5%
Orange - 10%
Yellow - 25%
White - 39.9%

If the minimum gem rarity goes up to yellow, then the chance of getting a yellow will be 25%+39.9%. If it goes up to orange, then 10%+25%+39.9%, and red would be 5%+10%+25%+39.9%.

In other words, the chance of receiving an item of a rarity tier above the minimum will remain unchanged. You will not have a higher chance of receiving a Purple-tier reward now than you would have any other time.
