Personally I think it’s time for TH to get an update. It’s gotten a bit stale and saturated with so many junk items, that other than promos it’s not really worth it anymore. And yes I know a lot of people are against treasure hunter entirely, but if we address some of it’s faults, it might be a little bit more tolerable.

Probably the biggest issue is with the prize pool, other than stars, lamps and prizes that should ideally be obtained by other means, there’s not a lot going on. The current item prizes have been there so long they no longer hold any real value.

Hopefully this post can go some way towards fixing that.

Suggestion for new prize list
(Some old prizes stay the same)

Cash Prizes

White - Small cash bag
Yellow - Medium cash bag
Orange - Large cash bag
Red - Huge cash bag
Purple - 200M

Cosmetic

Old cosmetic items to be archived & brought back periodically for promotions. Prior to being archived cosmetics should be purchaseable on Solomon’s general store.

A selection of new cosmetic tokens should take their place, these tokens would unlock a FULL outfit, be tradeable and be part of the purple prize pool.

Items that are part of the rare item token group of items should be replaced by rare item tokens.

New rest animations, and emotes should be added as part of the red & orange prizes.

Lamps & Stars

We don’t need a lamp and star for each skill category, just rebrand prismatic as simply “Fallen Star” & “Mysterious lamp”.
Keep the current sizes, whilst adding a new one to the purple slot called “gigantic fallen star
-or- mysterious lamp.”

Skill sets

Replace skill sets, with skill set tokens. Different amounts for each prize category. These would work similarly to the rare item tokens, opening a shop where you can obtain the different skill sets.

Misc
Things like magic notepaper & springs etc, should be kept and expanded upon. Some new utility items akin to these should be included.

Treasure hunter modifiers should be added as obtainable items to make the TH experience more interesting.

Novelty items should be added as unique rewards, to further pad the prize pool and limit Op Xp rewards.

Some old promotions should become permanent features albeit in a modified state, to lessen their impact.

New items equivalent to the Dwarven black diamond ring, should be added these make grinding more entertaining & rewarding whilst not being op xp droppers.

D&D tokens

These are mostly fine, but their rarities should be altered.
Red - monthly D&D token
Orange - weekly D&D token
Yellow - daily D&D token
White - Single D&D token (resets a single named D&D with no option to choose)

Additionally a random item prize from a respective D&Ds tier could be awarded in place of a token.

Vis wax

Small quantities of vis wax should be available as prizes on treasure hunter.
Red - 20 vis wax
Orange - 10
Yellow - 5
White - 2

Lucky armour

To be honest I’m not really sure what’s lucky about it.. So let’s rebrand it as fortunate armour, and allow it to be broken down for invention components. Remains purple rarity.

New rarity level blue

• Lucky sets - Full equipment sets including weapons graphically enhanced and more armoured, with an added flames particle effect for good measure. Stats a few levels higher than what they are based off. Available in Arma, Bandos & Subjugation.
• 200m / 4K rare item tokens combo pack.
• Huge Skilling dummy crate, contains 12 Skilling dummies of any type.
• 2k Protean items - randomly split into two lots of 1k.
• New legendary pet.

Skills

Other than lamps and stars these are the core of Th hunter, yet they’re either lacklustre or flat out weird. Why do we get lobsters for agility? So let’s try and address that.
Agility
•Purple - 300 silver hawk feathers
•Red - Energy ring (temporarily stops energy drain, before running out of charges and turning to dust).
•Orange - 100 silver hawk down -or- 10noted energy mix
•Yellow - 5 summer pies
•White - Cloudberry cider (grants +2 agility, - 4 defence)

Attack
•Red - Brawling gloves melee - or- fracas gloves melee (f2p)
•Orange - Medium combat dummy crate
•Yellow - 5 attack (or equivalent level) potions
•white - 1 attack (or equivalent level) mix

Constitution
• Purple - 300 rocktail soup
• Red - 50 Great Gunkan
• Orange - 15 Fury sharks
• Yellow - 50 Lobsters
• White - 10 moonlight mead

I’d run out of space if I listed every skill, but hopefully you get the idea, useful untradeable items -or- at the very least items that won’t significantly damage the G.E prices.

Finnaly
•There should be more ways to obtain keys within game.
•A parental lock should be added.

So... at the time of posting this, the thread is still unfinished, but "free to post" in regardless? Alright then, guess I'll post about what there already is.

A bit more tolerable to who? The key buyers (who already have a very OP advantage in their hands as is)? After going through your proposals, it appears that you don't address any of the faults that the people against TH don't tolerate.

Currently, TH is a predatory gambling simulator that sells exp and cosmetics.
After this "rework", TH would be a predatory gambling simulator that sells exp and cosmetics.

So I guess that means I'll have to say no support, not only because of the above, but also because this would make TH even more OP (removing skill categories from stars/lamps, thus making them prismatic, thus always giving you the choice to pick a skill).

TH needs to removed, either entirely, or by removing both the direct exp selling (lamps) and the gambling aspect at bare minimum. That's the kind of a rework that actually addresses its faults.

@ Blackwing, yeah had to leave this for a lil bit but posted so I didn’t lose what I already had down. Plus I was hoping for some early insight & feedback.:)

My intention with reducing stars and lamps into a single type, would be for the frequency of you landing on one to go down.
For example getting 1 lamp and 1 star in 10 rolls, instead of 1 fishing lamp, 1 herblore lamp, a mining star & two prismatic stars in 10 rolls.
You might think that example biased and lopsided, but that’s generally what I seem to get.

I agree with you that the volume of xp to be had from Treasure Hunter is at a rediculous level. But I think it’d be more bearable to gradually reduce the amount, instead of cut people off entirely.

Okay, but are you aware that reducing the amount of different exp categories doesn't actually automatically mean we'd get less exp prizes? One category can be present multiple times, as proven by the promotional category on such promotions as elite skilling outfits bonanza. Jagex could just make those new categories be present many times each on every key, and we'd be back at the drawing board.

Heck, even if we had that one category be present just once, it still doesn't mean the frequency of landing on it would be smaller than if there were multiple slots for that category (or multiple categories for the same thing). That's because the chance to land on a slot is not 1 in X (where X is the total amount of open slots), it's whatever Jagex sets it to be. A single slot could be set to have e.g. a 50% chance to be landed upon. Alternatively, Jagex could also reduce the total amount of slots and still achieve the same end goal.

That's quite vague to me; "gradual reduction" could be e.g. reducing the overall exp gained from TH by 10% per month, or it could mean reducing it by 10% per year. You might want to clarify what level of gradual reduction you're looking at. > )

I’m aware that the rates would still very much be in Jagexs hands, I’m hoping that by offering some alternatives they’d be less realiant on stars and lamps.:)

The gradual reduction would also be in Jagexs hands, so unfortunately it’s irrelevant how much I’d like it reduced or by when.

Just know that I’d like it reduced.

You know, the way you display how much effort you put into the different aspects of your suggestion, reveals what you really want. You can excuse anything as "it's in Jagex's hands", but if you truly cared about it, you wouldn't do that. And that brings me to my point with this: you revealed just how little you care about reducing the exp output of TH. If you're fine with it being "in Jagex's hands", that means you're fine with the possibility of it not being reduced at all, or by a minuscule amount that hardly matters.

So yea, it looks like my first post won't be needing any changes, so that's nice at least.

Cheerio. > )

That’s not the case at all. But we both know that whatever number I throw at you would be next to meaningless. Only serving to let you hear, what you want to hear, essentially making me akin to a politician who can’t keep their promises.

The amount is beyond my control, but surely a gradual reduction no matter the number is better than nothing.

Short of a government sanction, or a mass boycott, Treasure hunter is unlikely to be removed. So please help me try and improve it by suggesting alternatives to the Op xp selling. Little by little we can make it less of a blight on the rest of the game.

Any suggestions? Utility items are an area we are always looking for new ideas in.
