P.S. As you can imagine, the trading post is an unusually complicated system, since it involves a new central server hosting your advertised sales and piping the info to the game worlds. That's the kind of thing that's hard to test reliably in the office testing environment. If we run into teething problems getting all the systems talking to each other correctly, we'll get them sorted ASAP. Your patience will be appreciated, as always :)

No, the jobs off that poll haven't been launched yet. But that one's looking good for next week's update along with Christmas.

No, we are not automatically rooting for all votes to pass. We generally only poll something if we think it's got a reasonable chance, but we'll poll something we don't personally enjoy if there's enough demand for it.

A lot of people have asked us to expand the trading post into a full GE. And we could do that. It's not impossible anymore; we have more engine support than we had a year ago. So we acknowledge this.

I'd personally prefer to go with more conservative expansions, such as the idea for sending Trade requests through the post to open the trade screens remotely.

But it's not my call; it's yours.

The discussion in this thread illustrates rather nicely why we didn't just poll the GE straight out in the first place; there's clearly a lot of sentiment against it, and I doubt it would have passed. Even now I don't think it'd pass. But I could be wrong.

We're not able to track the prices for which the trade eventually completes, especially as players can trade for items other than coins.

That said, a lootshare system that worked off alch prices would still work reasonably well for sharing out loot amongst a team of boss-hunters.

You have to buy at the price your seller will accept. Same as before.

I believe that players' views can change over time, but some of the features of a GE were really pretty unpopular back in May when we offered a trading system. Offline trading, for example, failed pretty dismally. The ability to trade with someone who'd been offline beyond 6+ hours scored 48%.

I reckon the question about trading through the post would have crept over the 75% threshold if we asked it again now.

As for whether 75% are now in favour of a full GE, that's less sure. We've made it clear in the newspost that we're willing to consider polling such a thing.

Should be a one-time thing, yes.

If we were doing vast updates with tons of beautiful GFX everywhere like RS3 does, you'd experience this every week :)

More like 6 weeks. It got delayed behind other jobs the engine team need to do (which will hopefully happen less often now we've got Ian as our own engine developer) then delayed behind other jobs we needed to do.

And yes, it's not a fully-featured update of ultimate convenience. Because people didn't vote for one.

It is in the Runecrafting skill guide as well. Appears to have something to do with stackable items.

Engine change relating to the way stackable items decide whether or not to show a number. Ian's going to sort it, probably for next week's update.

But there was a load of demand for an in-house alternative, since not everyone trusts 3rd-party sites, so we offered a trading update a few months back.
