Any news on New Content Dev yet?

We're still taking applications from any RS3 devs who'd like to come and join us. Had some interviews too. I hope we'll be in a position to make a final decision in the next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile Mod Maz is kindly helping out.

Will Mod Maz's duel arena fixes (in regards to the first/second screen and such) be polled or introduced without a poll due to their impact on game integrity/scamming?

The flaws that were enabling scamming will simply be fixed. Similarly, the remarkable lack of information on the confirmation screen will simply be fixed.

We are polling some extra features that she may install, though, such as the ability to recall your last options.

Are you going to make the chatbox transparent when you chat with npc* aswell? Like in 2011.

I don't actually remember the chatbox being transparent when a dialogue box was open in it. For our resizable mode launch, those dialogue boxes will appear exactly as they do in the game now.

But we can change that sort of thing in future if desired, depending on what else people want us to do.

How isn't name changing with bonds being questioned yet? We really need it so we don't have to buy rs3 bonds to change our name. With each poll it is missing. Otherwise nice updates!

Poll 33 is (mostly) small stuff that John can develop while Ian and I focus on resizable mode. Even if we polled name changes via bonds now, we simply wouldn't have a chance to enable it for weeks.

Any news on new quests/continuing quests to finish off the quest series? :)

No, we're not planning any quests at the moment. Bear in mind that it takes many weeks to write a quest, and there tend to be many other things that players want us to do that would give more benefit for less dev time. And whenever we've offered quests in priority polls, there hasn't been much support. So we tend to focus on other kinds of update.

Can you fix ilfeen? she still doesn't recharge crystal halberds

Sorry, it got forgotten in the initial Diaries update, and since then we've been a little busy.

aren't you ashamed? not a single word on the dc's/server issues?

No, this game update newspost doesn't address it because the game update has nothing to do with it.

Ian, John and I are not systems administrators, so we have no ability to help the sysadmin team liaise with our hosting providers to improve the protection against those attacks. That's something the sysadmins are already doing, and when we've got some news we'll share it. But, in the meantime, we are continuing to fix in-game bugs and work on the features that players request for OSRS.

Any news about the seercull? I thought it will be in this poll.

Not much agreement about what buff it should have, tbh. So we've gone with some other stuff that will hopefully get more support.

Seems fair enough.

:) Occasionally players will - reasonably - assume that all Jagex staff can do each other's jobs. So they find it frustrating that there's a big issue that 90% of Jagex staff are clearly not working on. Thing is, if I stopped doing content development work right now, and declared I was going to march into the sysadmin office and jolly well FIX IT NOW... well, it wouldn't actually achieve anything because I'd have no idea what I was talking about. Especially as network changes are not something that can be done entirely from here anyway. When the sysadmins are liaising with hosting providers across various continents to design and implement different network structures, a bunch of extra wannabe sysadmins sitting in the office won't make the process any faster.

Sadly, just as the customer support team can't march over to my desk and help make XP droplets or LootShare any faster, I can't march over to the sysadmin office and help make the network 100% proof against all possible future spam-attacks.

Will there be anti-aliasing when resizable releases?

Ian's been experimenting with it, and showed off an early draft on a livestream recently. Since then he's spent a bit of his personal time trying out different algorithms to try and make it work with a decent frame-rate. If he manages it, I expect an anti-aliasing toggle would be very well received. But don't be surprised if that isn't around for the initial resizable launch.

Thank you. We just want to know what's going on when servers dc like 20 times a day, and what you are doing about it. This is not a personal attack towards you or anything, I just feel like you should inform the players more about what's going on.

"sysadmins working on it" is kinda all I've got.

This way you could also bring back summoning and abilities. This is not the right way.

Imagine we made resizable mode and didn't bring back Summoning and abilities.

That is the current plan.

Did you miss my question or am I not getting a reply? a simple no would suffice... please don't ignore veterans

I'm never going to be able to answer every question. Please don't take it as an insult to your veteran status if your question gets missed in a crowd of other questions.

If you were asking about the ability to click through the transparent chatbox, currently you can't. But it looks quite nice, and the transparent GUI components will be very suitable if we get to make a chatbox that can be expanded up the screen. I expect we could do a toggle for clicking through the chatbox if required.

Any news on the GE webpage?

The web team's going to do it; this is now confirmed. We don't have a schedule for when they think they'll finish, or whether they'll be including a handy API for players to tap into its data directly.

We asked for resizable screen, or at least some of us did. But we did not ask for the ****** up newschool graphics? Is it called Oldschool RS with a reason?

Which graphics are you referring to? If it's the transparent chatbox that you find objectionable, there's already an option button (shown in the screenshot) to set it back to the beige panel from the current game. If it's the side-panel stones that you hate, they're really just based on the stones you've got right now.

The minimap container's different, granted, though it's not a copy of RS3's.

Regarding this kind of thing, I'm actually not looking up everyone's stats in this thread and deciding who "deserves" a reply and who doesn't.

In poll 33, I think the reason for the 200 defence exp question to be currently failing is because 'pures limit themselves'. Instead could a question be offered 'Would you like a warning before adding the KBD head stating that you will receive 200 defence experience?' that might be more likely to pass.

Thanks :)

Agreed. We wanted to offer to remove the XP altogether, since it serves no useful purpose, but assuming the question doesn't pass, a simple warning would be absolutely fine to protect pures.

I'd also safely assume that most people don't even know it actually exists anyway, and flat out removing it (without even mentioning anything) most people would never even notice lol

I agree, and I also think you're right about the motivation behind the voting. Nevertheless, while we could probably have got away with changing it secretly and pretending it never happened, I don't believe we should do that sort of thing.

Sticking in a warning, on the other hand, should cover the situation nicely.

Can we please poll ZMI Mod Ash?

We could. On the other hand we've had a lot of people saying they don't want it.

While we could just poll every random thing, no matter how unpopular it seems to be at the time, that's got a few drawbacks. In particular, when we poll something, players - reasonably - assume that "Jagex" wants it to pass its poll. So if we poll something that's widely hated, it looks like "Jagex" wants to take the game in a direction that players don't want, which causes the inevitable rage.

So we've left ZMI aside, on the grounds that we've got plenty of other requests to poll instead, and many of them look more likely to pass.

As long as I can play in the current OSRS mode, then i have no problem.

Resizable was polled as an optional mode. Here's the poll question:
"Should we add resizable mode to Old School RuneScape? A toggle would be available to turn resizable mode on or off."

This means that if you want to stick to the standard fixed-size mode, you can choose to do so. I'm sorry if this was unclear.

That's what my entire post is about, my only concern, the source of my disgust.

It's pretty strong disgust for someone who just wants reminding that they can toggle it off. But if you feel that way, fair enough :)
