This must be the biggest update we've yet had...

Stretch your screen and make the update even bigger.

yay resizable. hopefully its not laggy for me. Need zooming and anti-aliasing now.

There's a whole bunch of stuff that Ian may be able to enable for us if he gets the dev time to do so. He's also been experimenting with scaling up the chatbox and inventory panel and minimap so that they're bigger.

For what it's worth, I could do zoom now without further engine work, but it wouldn't save over logout or worldswitch, so it'd be kinda lame if we released it now.

Yippie!! Now we just need zoom, anti-aliasing and fog :D

As we've mentioned, there's a fair few extra features we'd like to offer. Most of them will start by requiring some dev time from Ian.

We'll do what we can, but don't be surprised if you don't get everything you're hoping for straight away in the next update :)

One thing is that the bank interface seems to be a little off to the side when in resizable mode, not sure if this is a bug or not.

Menus are centred to the area that's not covered by minimap or chatbox. So they're offset up a bit and left a bit on your monitor screen.

will we see osrs to use gcard anytime soon or is it big work which not possible without a big team?

Not likely. Bear in mind that the models in OSRS are low polygon and have no textures. So using a graphics card to render them wouldn't make the game look a whole lot better.

We'd also get a whole host of problems where RuneScape's custom render order code wouldn't match what a GFX card does. (Depth sorting is abnormal in OSRS due to the optimisations Andrew made to get a 3D game running in a browser on 2004-level computers.)

Overall, I don't see this happening.

Would it be possible to move around the chat/interface? I wouldn't change much to the lay-out (inventory and such still on the right and chat on the bottom left), but I feel like a small self determined distance to the edge of the screen would help create that grand scale of a full screen.

I'm afraid installing the drag/tear/scale features of RS3 is not something we can offer just now.

Ian's experimental work on a double-size chatbox and inventory panel might be very helpful if he gets a chance to finish it.

why is there no zoom out option?????
u realase resizable mode.. without one of the most important feature.. which is zoom in or out..
how sloppy can u be?

Okay, just switch back to fixed size mode and stay that way until Ian and I have a chance to implement a zoom feature for you.

As I mentioned elsewhere in this thread, we can change the zoom, but cannot store your setting over logout/worldswitch yet. So it'd be a pretty lame feature if we tried to install it right now. And you'd be complaining about how sloppy it was that we'd released a zoom feature like that.

Instead of waiting more weeks to release resizable mode with more features, we have given you this version now so that you can at least have the option of a bigger screen now. More features can come in future.

I appreciate you might have preferred to have no update now, but have resizable mode with more features next month instead. But you'll understand why we decided to do this instead.

Call it sloppy if you like.

Any possibility for a future full-screen mode to remove the web links at the top of the page?

Not a small job. I expect Ian could do it, though I also expect there are more pressing things players would like him to do instead. Such as finishing his anti-aliasing prototype, or his double-size chatbox prototype, or implementing something so I can do a nice zoom slider for you.

How come, when in resizeable-mode, the clan chat icon is moved from being between magic icon and friends list icon to between ignore list and settings icon?

If you've got the stone buttons aligned along the bottom of the screen, it's based off a pic I found showing how the gameframe was laid out in the years after 2007.

The default behaviour is for the stones to stay in the "OSRS shape", above and below the inventory panel. That one doesn't have any rearrangement.

You've posted this quite a few times, I see.
While I haven't posted a personal response to you, you'll find I've replied about zoom features a few times in the thread already :)

well u need more time to add the features..
but haven't u guys already had so many months already to work on this?

More like 5 weeks, I think. While players were asking for resizable back in 2013, and Jacmob got a lot of the 3D work done last year, Ian and I were working on many other things and were not able to do anything towards resizable mode until a lot more recently.

Quite simply, more features takes more time. Holding back the entire update until there are more features didn't feel necessary or beneficial.

Any chance we could have 2 settings for chat text size and inv size atm i feel that the chat box is too small as i am playing on a large screen it really hard to read.

I've mentioned previously in this thread that Ian's been experimenting with ways to scale up the chatbox and inventory panel. (And minimap too, since you'll likely want that.)

Given some more dev time, hopefully he'll have a chance to finish and release something. Though I see a lot of other requests too that'll involve work from him.

Great update!

Would it be a difficult job to implement a click through chatbox option? I'd love that, along with the zoom feature of course. :D

Making the chatbox click-through for everyone is easy.
Making a toggle takes a fair bit longer.

This gets me to the old interface and the one giant line, but I am looking for when both rows are on the bottom of the menu stacked on top of one another. Like /JagexAsh/status/602831121584246784

No, that's just based on your screen size, and doesn't have a toggle.

Anyone else got just black screen? I cant play anymore. Only thing i can do is listen some sounds.

Were you in any kind of cutscene with a fade-to-black that could be malfunctioning?
Or has it taken out your chatbox and inventory too?

Ash, can we poll xp drops?

We can. Not a small job, which is why we haven't been able to slip it into a poll alongside the extra right-click options on NPCs or the little quality of life jobs, but it's something I expect to work on quite soon.

After resizable mode fixes and feedback, that is.

That having said, looking at the last few pages, most people (including me!) seem to focus on the stuff that wasn't included in the update instead of what did get added. So I'd just like to say thank you, you and Ian have done an amazing job!

Cheers :)
It's right and proper for players to say when they want something changed, of course. But I'm glad you see why we didn't postpone the update for an extra month so as to include more and more stuff in the initial launch. And even if we had, it wouldn't include every single request we'd ever had anyway.

E.g. 2006-style gameframe.

I am experiencing a glitch/bug where if I click on the ''search item'' icon in my bank, it asks me ''How many do you wish to buy'', same when I am trying to look for an item in the Grand Exange

Oddly, it doesn't seem to be happening to John when he tries it.
We'll look into it.
Remember, the bug report form's in the OS General forum.

Great to hear it's not being overlooked because of OSB. I Imagined that it could be done within a fair amount of time by making an algorithm that checks how many xp you received (new xp minus previous xp in a counter) and copy that number to appear on your screen (like above your character or something). Would it be possible to copy the main parts of that update from RS3 and apply required changes to make it work in OSRS?

No, we wouldn't avoid adding a game feature for that reason.

The algorithm for detecting XP change isn't going to be hard. Building stuff into our gameframe (or 3 gameframes now) is less straightforward, but it's not a sticking point.

Would a zoom function have to be polled first?

Pfff, I guess. Though I'm not worried about it failing. The key thing is for Ian to have a chance to do what we need for it to be implemented.

Being able to completely hide the chatbox would be nice, too. Not everyone want to see it, perhaps just leave the "type here" part of it visible if toggled so ;)

You can actually hide the chatbox already. Click one of its tabs twice.
It lets you continue typing while it's hidden.
