Hiya,

We're rebooting the game to release a few tweaks to Resizable Mode:

  • The F-keys can now be used to close side-panels if you're in the mode where the stone buttons are arranged along the bottom of the screen, like it was in previous versions of RuneScape.

  • If you have set the chatbox to be transparent, you can now click through it to walk or interact with scenery. This doesn't prevent you from using the 'Message' or 'Add Friend' options on your chat history.

  • You can no longer click through the side-panel border in the mode where the stone buttons are arranged along the bottom of the screen. Previously it didn't intercept clicks correctly.

  • Under the hood, we've made some more changes to address the bug where text-input boxes sometimes opened incorrectly, e.g. you try to Withdraw-X in your bank but the game gives you Add Friend instead. In the event that you encounter that sort of bug, you should find that logging out and in again will temporarily resolve it for you while we continue working on a permanent solution.

  • The 'Clear' options on certain tree patches weren't working correctly.

  • The Castle Wars head-up displays weren't opening correctly.

  • We've got a lot of other feedback changes we'd like to make for you, including the popular requests for a zoom control or scaled-up versions of the chatbox, interfaces and minimap. Ian's been working hard in his personal time towards these; however, they are larger jobs, and will take longer to implement.

Apart from that, we had hoped to enlarge the click-zone of the minimap in fixed size mode, so you could click on the surrounding area to walk. However that's also going to involve some engine work from the ever-in-demand Ian, so it has not been possible to launch that yet.

We're aware that players are encountering various other bugs, such as one that appears to be Mac-specific involving interfaces being click-through when they shouldn't be, and various situations where the screen's going black, among other problems. If you've got specific info that'll help us track down the source of a bug, please pop over to the Report bugs here thread to get the details to Mods John C and Day.

    Cheers,
    Mod Ash

1st - I really am too mature for doing that but I couldn't resist ! and now I shall read what the update is.

I don't normally like the "FIRST" posts, but I like this one.

    How about the teleport lagg?

We ended up having to prioritise the equipping-items lag over that bug, so we've not found it yet. It'll come... assuming I can find it. But the info you posted yesterday was very helpful.

is it possible to make the fkey change toggleable?

Making it work one way or the other is quite easy. Making a new button would take considerably longer. Effectively, you wouldn't have got any updates or fixes at all today if I had tried to make a toggle button.

N.B. If you use the OSRS-style stone button layout, the F-keys still don't close the panel, so you can avoid the behaviour if you don't like it.

I like the idea of a chat command, but that'd involve tying into the game engine again, so it wouldn't save much time, and I'd rather leave Ian to work on the many other things players have requested.

ever since resizable release ba has gotten a few buggs and delays, plz check it out.

In the original post, I gave details of where you can send bug reports. You should specifically make sure you tell the testers when the delays occur. "Somewhere in ba" is not very much information because it's a big game.

... I have a question is the zoom in-out option the highest priority at the moment

No. Top priority is fixing game crashes, black-outs, the thing with the text-input boxes, suspicious reduction in framerate associated with common activities, etc. Usability features come a little lower down the list.

Today's update was deliberately targeted at a bunch of small jobs that could be done last night and this morning, so that you'd get as much improvement as possible before the weekend.

I don't know exactly how long it'll take Ian to port over the engine feature I need for making a decent zoom feature, but there's no way we'd have been able to launch that today anyway. So instead I gave you what I could, even if it's not necessarily what you most wanted.

This update doesn't agree with my computer, the screen is ridiculously small, its very hard to see. even en full screen, the screen is fine, but the boxes (chat box, and inventory and other menu's are very small.) I need a magnifying glass.

See my comment in the original post about scaling the chatbox and interfaces, etc.

Bug test it better before releasing. All these bugs are minor but what if there was a major one.

Updates are tested, yes. That's why you didn't have the bug where the game crashed out if you stood near the Doomsayer in Lumbridge, or the bug where a big flashy shape appeared across the screen if you were near any steep hill, or the bug where a bunch of chatboxes stayed open forever without a Click to continue button, or the bug where the Dragon Slayer journey to Crandor cutscene had sections being displayed off the side of the screen, or many others that were found and fixed before launch.

Nevertheless, there will always be the chance of bugs getting through, especially where they are triggered by situations that weren't expected to be relevant (e.g. having a long chat history could lead to the Withdraw-X button in a bank malfunctioning) and our testing staff have done a remarkable job of keeping the bug rate down.

It would, of course, be better if there'd been no bugs at all.
