I've programmed the drop table to try and identify which pieces you're missing, so as to avoid you piling up loads of piece 2 and 3 without getting piece 1.

About crowding...

We've not instanced this boss, like we didn't instance Cerberus. So you will likely have to queue a bit for a Sire. If we'd instanced it, so that everyone could go grind on a Sire as fast as possible, the drops would come into the game far too fast, and would lose value very rapidly. In the case of Cerberus, a couple of weeks after launch the overcrowding had largely vanished; we expect this to be similar. So yes, you may find this a bit frustrating at the moment, but hopefully it'll make the content worthwhile for a longer time.

We're showing off a beta of it at RuneFest this weekend, for the players who are going there. Then we'll see what needs changing based on the beta feedback. Also there'll be some web module work needed to support the Deadman data becoming part of your saved game profile.

N.B. We don't have a secret website where you can try out Deadman Mode, or Sailing, or Zeah, or whatever rubbish the phishers try. If someone's offering you a link to a beta like that, they're probably trying to get you to install malware.

It's not a PvP area any more than the Abyss is.
And you can get there without going through the Abyss.

While you're welcome to fight the Sire with a skull, that doesn't sound like a desirable activity.

It's an abyssal demon. I'd like to expand Slayer up to higher levels, sure, but this isn't trying to be a vehicle for it.

Yes, that's from the extra item protection measures we put into the game during the DDOS attacks. As you'll have seen from last weekend, it's not yet time to take those measures back out, though players have increasingly been asking about when we'll do that.

Understood. There's also the issue that we're limited in how many NPCs we can spawn in an instance like that; the Sire fight uses quite a lot of NPCs. Anyway, I appreciate that you feel it's needed.

As it is, when a Sire dies, there's a reasonable chance that someone else will be first to tag the next one, since it respawns very quickly. So there'll be less chance of one player getting drop after drop by simply dominating every fight.

It's intended that people solo it.
Having a few friends around may help distract the boss a little, but it's certainly not obligatory.

We didn't add anything to the abyssal demon drop table.

It sometimes calls the rare drop table which, yes, has a small chance of returning nothing.
But mostly you should expect to get something.

The extended duration of items on the ground is something we didn't poll. We just did it when the DDOSing got really bad. When the situation improves, we expect to put death back to normal.

We will, at that time, be open to polling permanent changes to death if people want us to, but I'm personally opposed to keeping the current behaviour where most untradeables get protected automatically.

We promised Zoom, and we have delivered it.
Ian has been working on something to scale up menus and text, so that players with 4k monitors can play without the text being miniscule. However he's had to put that aside for a bit while he works on other things. I look forward to him being able to continue.
