For these Nightmare Zone changes, a substantial portion of the code had to be rewritten.

It's something I'd have had to do anyway to make the code handle 33+ quests' bosses, i.e. when Monkey Madness II comes out. So it's been a fiddly bit of maintenance, but it should be worthwhile.

If I accidentally broke anything during it, we'll fix it.

Can you make it so we can call while firing the cannon and using the machines? Can you fix the problem when, as the defender, people running under a stack of runners causes them to walk under you?

Uncertain. RS has quite a lot of "protection" in its code to stop multiple things happening at the same time, since that could cause bugs from race conditions. The developer who originally wrote Barbie Assault was - well - less experienced in 2006 than he is today, so some of the places where players are locked to one action may not be necessary. Others maybe are. It's rather hard to tell in that pile of legacy code what we can/can't safely change.

As for the thing with the stacks of runners, the way NPCs choose to walk is part of the game engine, and if we asked for NPC walk behaviour to change, it may well lead to knock-on effects throughout the rest of the game.

Will a blue graceful recolour to match the agility cape be polled? Agility cape already acts like a graceful cape, so it would make sense. Maybe as a reward from Brimhaven agility arena? This might motivate me to get that agility cape :P

We've already introduced Osten as the source of many recoloured graceful kits. OSRS doesn't have very much flexibility for recolouring items dynamically on the fly, so each additional set becomes considerably more overhead behind the scenes; we're not going to be able to offer as many colour options as people might like. For now.

With this update making NMZ not so much trouble to get points in can we get a revert in some of the death mechanics? Not back to appearing items or anything just specifically losing your ring's imbue on death (that way dying is somewhat regretful again instead of just a pack yak)

We're hoping to be able to revert the death mechanics properly this year anyway, now the network attacks are becoming less prevalent.

That's good to hear! Although to be honest without more time than 2 minutes, I really wouldn't like it. Would no longer be willing to solo a lot of bosses or even fight lizard shamans... Ever tried returning to lizards after dying without the amulet?! Nightmare.
I think we need a good middle ground

I'm inclined to agree. The original 2 minutes - during which the tradeables were available for anyone to take - was pretty nasty, and I could totally see us polling a permanent change to a longer duration with the items NOT visible to other players until later.

A little info about NMZ points...

In a Rumble dream, the game looks at what bosses are unlocked, and calculates a points multiplier accordingly. If you've unlocked every boss you get the maximum multiplier; if you've just unlocked a few easy ones you get a small multiplier.

If you have the Dream Mentor bosses unlocked, but not Desert Treasure, the multiplier is lower than you might expect, since the Dream Mentor bosses consist of huge sacks of HP.

The calculation is the same regardless of whether your bosses are selected from the new Customisation menu or whether you're getting whatever quests the entire party's unlocked (i.e. the Rumbles you've had since launch).

This means that today's update doesn't actually give you much that you didn't have before. It just makes it easier to get that kind of Rumble without needing a specially customised account.

Is there any news regarding possible poll of allowing scrolls of redirections for ironman accounts?
Also, an off-topic suggestion: would be nice if you added coal packs to Prospector Percy's Nugget Shop inventory.

1. No news, but it's an obvious contender for the next Repoll Poll. It may do better now we've got the "skip question" option.

2. I guess it would :)

Wait, so now when we choose boss as we want, we get much less nmz points? That is honestly ruining the idea of doing this.

The points calculation is what it's always been. The difference is that you can now choose the bosses yourself rather than needing to find people with specific quest builds to get the combination you want.

I myself was a bit surprised to see the pure white set polled before the dark blue. I'm not even 99 Agility, but people with that do deserve a matching set.

The version being polled was seen in the game on Osten, so that may have made people demand it when Osten came out. I'm not saying we'll never do any more recolours, but you appreciate we're not going to be able to keep adding more and more. The idea of "deserving" a particular recolour is a bit too open-ended - by similar arguments, players with a (recoloured) max cape may "deserve" one that matches whatever colour it is. Anyway, like I've said, I'm not ruling it out. But there's a limited amount of dev time, and many other things that people keep asking us to do, so one has to consider how much of the dev time players want us to spend on cosmetics.

I know it's not being ruled out, but I'm just curious, would it take a lot of dev time? I've been going off the assumption that Mod Jed saved the dark blue set he made all along. If he didn't that changes the picture quite a bit.

Setting the colours isn't particularly hard; implementing the code for you to buy (and revert) the item (and store it in POH in future) would take more dev time.

Benvil said:
Dark Blue specifically makes sense because graceful is obtained from agility and because of the graceful perk agility cape.

A max cape encompasses an Agility cape, and thus would make as much sense to demand.

Any of the j mods know why world 39 (or the other few skipped worlds) doesn't exist?

World numbers are set based on where the world is hosted. Where one hosting facility has fewer worlds than another, you get gaps in the number list.

If one were to create a custom dream and exclude a low-level boss (like Elvarg), would the multiplier still be the same or is it dependent on the amount of bosses included in the rumble?

If you have every boss in the dream, you get the maximum multiplier.
If you exclude any, you get a lower multiplier. This applies to Elvarg, same as any other boss.

Excluding a boss via the menu is exactly equivalent to excluding it by having a limited account setup. So you're getting the same multiplier now as you would if you'd paid a host account that hadn't completed Dragon Slayer.

Ceverio said:
For maximum amount of points, would it be required to include every single boss or is it a select few that increase the multiplier?

Every added boss increases the multiplier. For obvious reasons bosses like King Roald increase it by less than, say, the Giant Roc.
