P.S. This is a pretty complicated update, with various new game engine features as well as ties into the core of the bank code. We've done extensive testing, including downloading actual players' saved games to use real bank setups, but there's always a chance of launch issues.

If something goes wrong, please be patient and we'll sort it ASAP. There's a bug report form in the game if you right-click the 'Report' button so you can send more detailed reports direct to the testers.

Could we please get a poll for Forinthry Dungeon (Revenant Cave)?

I was recently on RS3 & remembered how active R*v caves were for Pking.
Even if Rev's don't pass a poll another cave in the wilderness would be a nice addition to OSRS.

Adding a cave in the Wilderness isn't a problem. Indeed, we did it with a GWD, and the Forinthry Dungeon had much simpler mapping than the GWD did. It potentially spreads people out more, of course, so we shouldn't enlarge the Wilderness space too much.

One sticking point might be the revenants and their drops, though. I believe we gave those revenants a load of stuff that might be more controversial if introduced to OSRS.

Even if Ancient Warriors equipment didn't pass a poll you could have them drop items that don't make it to profitable but still attracts people to come up and make some money.

I had a request yesterday for more kinds of monster in Wilderness caves just for the sake of them being there. The player specifically requested blue dragons, and suggested the lava dungeon at the north end of the Wilderness, but the idea could be used for just about any existing creature. With, perhaps, buffed drops.

I posted an idea for This exact placeholder idea last year sometime on one of my accounts but can't find the thread :( Anyway really hope it was the cause of this spark lol

It's the kind of thing that's been bouncing around for a while, yeah, so maybe. Back when we had Mod Krista in the team, she and I agreed on this implementation approach as a possible way to do it. I gather RS3 can't do it the same way we did because they've got a lot more item definitions in the game, so their staff will have to come up with a more elaborate approach.

Mod Ash, is there a way to create a placeholder for an item which I currently do not possess?

No, but I'm totally up for having that added.
Also we've had requests for an option to generate placeholder junk to fill your bank, so that people can make 'Deposit-Inventory' do exactly what they want it to do.

Is there not a way to permanently 'remember' which items we've put a placeholder on?

We might be able to make the game store a short list of items as "the ones for which I always want placeholders", though it couldn't be a very long list without creating server load when the game has to check all your clicks against it.

Is there anyway to make the place holders stay even after refilling the item? At the moment if you create a place holder, then re-insert the item the place holder will disappear...

Maybe you'd like to turn on the toggle button at the bottom of the screen, so that items always leave placeholders when you withdraw them, without you needing to right-click specially.

Anyway, regarding the "Bank Junk Filler" button I suggested last time, Ash. I posted it on reddit and the reception was pretty good, with a cuple hundred upvotes. However, some of the feedback I got was that people didn't want more buttons on the interface...

Good. It's in the list of things to consider for future polls.
I think we've got a lot of scope to use the bank settings panel for things like this, so that new buttons can be kept out of the way. It's presumably not something you'd need to click all that often anyway, but it's more accessible than an NPC.

Are the uncut gem packs coming soon?

Mod Maz has been doing the programming for those, so I imagine we'll see them next week most likely.

Np said:
Haven't tried that out, but if I have a bank full of placeholders and I try to deposit a new item (that doesn't already have a placeholder), would it be possible?

No, a placeholder holds the place exactly like a real item does, so a bank full of placeholders is legitimately full. That's partly why we made a button to get rid of them all quickly.

Are Castle Wars halos still getting an update? D:

Oh yes. But we haven't asked Mod Ghost to postpone the Monkey Madness II GFX work to deliver that cosmetic update faster. It'll come.

It's my personal opinion that if you were to allow a button or NPC to automatically generate junk for us, it would probably make things slightly less interesting.

Personally I like that those horrible satchels from Tower of Life have a sort of use, even if it's just as a filler for Jmods testing bank updates. That's not why they were originally created, of course. In fact it's rather hard to identify the design goals of those satchels.

Also, speaking of the Padlock Button, if I could give one piece of feedback for this update, it would be to move that to either side of the interface. If you want a visual reference on how that would look, I could send you my "button" concept on Twitter, just let me know :)

Shuffling it around is easy, if there's a place where players would agree that it looks right. (There may not be.)

Then there's also the feedback that it doesn't save the toggle between logins...

B E C said:
"enable placeholders button" should be always on if that is what you have selected, if i log out it goes off and i have to turn it back on each time, can this be changed?

Yup. It's currently working like the items/notes toggle, which resets between login sessions, but we can make it permanent pretty easily.

Since the system already tracks this, any way 2 let ironborn know that critter they hit's been damaged, won't drop anything?

I got a bit stuck on how to give the message without it coming up over and over again in a situation where there are multiple creatures present.

What's your stance on D&D's 2day? Past it's been 'not worth it' has that changed?

I haven't really got a stance on D&Ds as such. I believe RS got too many of them too fast in the years after 2008, to the point that logging in became a list of daily chores rather than a free-roaming game, but that's not supposed to be an argument against ever having any. I do, however, feel that the requests for us to copy features out of RS3 are not an effective use of dev time. To recreate RS3 content accurately takes a lot more dev time than simply making our own thing, since there'd be so many custom models and animations to recreate. The Corp took weeks, and it only had about 12 models and 5 animations. An Evil Tree would be something else entirely. So if we're ever to make D&Ds for Old School RS, I'd like them to be something you or we design afresh.

O yah, will the count of clues done start after the vote (if it passes; looks like it will), or will it take into account clues already done, for the untradable clue scroll rewards for the 500-200 count?

We already have some tracking for that, don't we? It's on the notice board in the Observatory. Should use that.
