Can we see 2250 total worlds in a future poll pls? Ronan has the concern that it will split the community, it won't...

As the community gets higher level, that concern would diminish anyway, so you can solve it yourselves by levelling :)

I do expect this to come eventually, though I'd rather like to see more worlds before we put more restrictions on the ones we've got. Such as those long-awaited Australian ones (for which the sysadmins have not given us an updated ETA, so I haven't any news there).

Do bear in mind that I may not always be able to answer every question that's got nothing to do with the update, depending on what the update requires us to do.

1. Is it possible to have several POHs? So that if your 99con for instance you can have a second one.

We're not offering to allocate all that memory for a completely separate house profile, but you'd find it easier to move your rooms around to get two unconnected structures at opposite sides of your instance when my menu comes out. I hope to demo that in a livestream soon.

Etrengereid said:
...would it be possible to do something about the slow loading time for big and nice POHs. Someone with a baby wooden house load their house very fast while somone with a full and maxed out house might need to wait 5secs++.

I was able to get the load time down from about 16 secs to about 4 secs, yes. I'm afraid if I go any lower it'll mean the hotspots don't render correctly for you in the distance. You may be prepared to accept that, though when RS3 did it they got a lot of bug reports from players who weren't okay with their houses always looking buggy.

Etrengereid said:
2. Will we be discussing comp cape anytime soon or doesnt the community want a such thing?

Personally I think many players do want one, and I expect us to do one eventually. But having spent so much time on capes not that long ago, I'd like us to spend the dev time on things that aren't capes for a bit longer.

3. Will raids...

Details are not confirmed yet, but there will be stuff in there that requires the team to do skilling.

what does "The derived cost of Abyssal Bludgeon pieces has been lowered." mean?

Items that aren't directly tradeable on the GE nevertheless have a notional value that's used on death to determine their protection. It's generally derived off the cost of a comparable tradeable item, e.g. the bludgeon.

The main issue I still have is that this game is only available in English. The people I'm trying to introduce the game to do not speak English in the slightest.

Mat spent a lot of time generating cost/benefit analyses for translating the game, including the extra dev work and maintenance involved in running it indefinitely after it's done. I'm afraid it's not something we're doing in the foreseeable future.

Any news about what you're doing with prayer in LMS?

I gather they've not decided yet. Send your feedback to Jed & Archie via Twitter or share it with players in the medium of your choice.

Could you make it so the slayer cape perk does not work in the inventory?...

Hmmm. Some want it to work, some don't. #togglescape?

With the slayer cape perk now working in your inventory, does this mean we will have to drop the cape in order to not receive the task we just cancelled?

Couldn't you just say "No" when the master offers?

Will there be options to completely remove present bank fillers, or choose specific amounts to place in your bank?

Will these take on the appearance of a particular item already in the game or will it have its own art to it?

At the top of this thread there is a newspost with pictures showing the GFX and options.

I'm not a fan of Superior slayer encounters but the toggle option seems reasonable.
Also, how much of an inpact will it have on slayer experience?

As the superior creatures won't necessarily spawn all the time, and will take slightly longer to kill due to their superior I'd expect the effect to be relatively low even if they give more XP than the standard ones. Cannoning will probably help.

It says "The Ancients staff can now autocast Ancients spells in free-to-play." in bug fixes but it doesn't work.

It's just for Last Man Standing, right? We aren't trying to make that item work in F2P in places like the Wilderness.

I have been wearing the Slayer cape for like 50 tasks in a row now, but I have never gotten the same task twice in a row :(

The chance is 1/10 on each roll.

The chance of rolling 50 times without hitting that 1/10 event is (9/10) to the power of 50, which is about 1/194.

That's unlucky, but rarer things have happened (e.g. dragon shield half drops from monsters).

Could you please explain the adjustments to Barbarian Assault? In particular that which is being proposed with regard to dispenser delays?

Currently, when you pull the lever, there's a delay of about 6 ticks while it does the animation before you get items. This does not need to be there.

Does making 3 ahrims spawn and thereafter killing them, increase the chance of getting a ahrim piece or/and a barrows item in general? and does the damage dealt to them count towards to the max cap of 1012?

The damage counts, but as it only tracks whether you've killed Ahrim or not, it doesn't give you extra Ahrim rolls.

Could you possibly add a way to enter the cave AFTER defeating the Arzinian with out claiming the reward? the only purpose of this question is to get the achievement done with out the reward.

Well, yes, that is the purpose of the question. Making the cave accessible without getting the reward like you describe have the same effect as what we're polling, wouldn't it?

How is adding members only content to a free-to-play world considered a "bug fix" in anyway???
It was probably intended to be that way in the first place, but did not work as intended. Thus, making it a bug.

The F2P Last Man Standing game contains a few items that are otherwise accessible only to members, mostly to give F2P some more variety within that minigame. It was intended that the Ancient Staff given in F2P games should actually work as an Ancient Staff, but it didn't work; that bug has now been fixed.

N.B. While a previous version of the newspost implied the staff could autocast Ancients on F2P worlds anywhere at all, that was just dodgy wording. Only the LMS version works on F2P, and that's because it's supposed to.

Im very sure. With this update i have to spend 20hrs to be able to complete that master clue step. We voted NO for a reason on the poll!

You may have voted no, but 80.7% of voters voted for Iron Men to have access to the Trawler. Which pretty obviously includes its reward items, etc.

While I appreciate you're very upset that we haven't done exactly what you personally wanted, you're simply wrong to attack my colleague in that way, and you're out of line.

No what's dodgy is your defense of a members only item being allowed in F2P.

No, we have chosen to add some copies of members' items to LMS on F2P worlds. And they should work there. I assure you, this was not something that just accidentally slipped in. Jed had to go to quite a lot of trouble to enable special attacks for them.

ihaveurnose said:
It's foolish defenses like that which defend F2P players not having to pay for members only content...

Ah, you're upset because we're giving away freebies that you'd paid for. Fine, I'll explain.

Okay, the plan here is that we'd like F2P players to have a go with the items in a very limited environment (i.e. one minigame with fixed rules). And maybe they might consider subscribing to get access to the items so they can go run around the Wilderness and use them there.

It's a free sample, yes. But it's a very limited one, so I would hope the community could accept it in the same way that they accepted our previous short-term free membership trials that we ran back in 2014. Which, by the way, paved the way for OSRS to get a proper F2P version, and led to the vast growth of the game across 2015.

ihaveurnose said:
... from a mod that has helped RS decline more and more every year...

I've seen players complaining about RS declining year on year as far back as 2004 when I was just a player myself. I suppose if one shouts DOOM for long enough, the world will eventually end and prove one correct. Anyway, while I haven't always got to pick and choose my projects over the 12 years I've served RuneScape, I do not consider this feature to be a bad thing, though I'm sorry it upsets you.

Anyway, I get that you don't like us doing limited free samples. We are hoping it will act in the game's interest; if it doesn't, we'll not try it again like this.

Will it be that you instantly get the food and can move away from the machine, that you instantly get food, but have to wait till you can move away...
...or like in rs3 where you can click the machine, have to wait for food, but can move away instantly, so that if you click too soon, you end up leaving the machine without food and having to run back? (At least that is how it was in rs3 some months ago.)

Most likely Kieren will be implementing this one. I would personally implement it by letting you pull the lever, get food within a tick or so, and move away freely, if players were okay with it being sped up at all.

Ka os said:
Considering the quick-start, would it be possible to just shorten the timer instead of letting the leader quickstart manually?

That would be possible, though I'd hope a leader who actually wants to get into a game will have the sense to wait for their team to be ready.

Thank you for admitting that they have indeed spent unecessary resources providing P2P content to F2P players.

Yes, I have freely "admitted" something that is written in the newspost :P

While a limited freebie preview may seem unnecessary to you, it's also no secret that we care about encouraging non-members to subscribe. If people don't subscribe, the game goes away. And we hope that having a teaser of P2P items may encourage more F2P to subscribe to get proper access to the weapons.

We also spend time - that you may consider unnecessary - advertising the game, writing features that you personally don't care about, supporting colleagues in other departments on different Jagex products, etc.

You are entirely entitled to complain that that's not how you want our dev time spent, but I'm afraid we cannot offer to disregard all these other matters.

ihaveurnose said:
Yes, I think it's unreasonable to provide things that members have paid for to those that have not paid for that content.

Again, their access to it is incredibly limited. As a member you get to do a lot more with it, and use it in more than one small minigame.

As a member, you have access to a vast amount of stuff that F2P don't have. If you feel that it's not worth the fee now that F2P players can spend a few minutes running around a little arena trying out a fancy item that might encourage them to subscribe to get a real one, that's entirely your decision, but we would hope most players will see it differently.

ihaveurnose said:
I'm sorry you don't understand simple business practices, but maybe when you have a degree like myself you'll understand why giving P2P content away for free is harmful to the game itself.

Thank you for clarifying that you have a degree. I respect your academic qualification.

We've found through a decade's worth of data that giving F2P players something that's fun and engaging encourages them to subscribe.

Giving them exact parity with members would not be sensible. However, if you're claiming that we have given them parity with members through this teaser access to an item in a small arena, I'm afraid we'll have to disagree.

ihaveurnose said:
Lol if you've been around that long then you would know what happened Dec. 2007. And giving away P2P content to F2P players will end with the same result...

Yup, I've been in RS since 2002, and I remember the end of 2007 well enough to know that you're drawing a very tenuous comparison between 2008's excessive anti-RWT measures and the use of teaser adverts.

I'm sorry you are not happy with the update, but I've explained why we feel this sort of thing is reasonable, and I'm afraid we don't intend to remove it in response to your complaint.
