Sorry about the shorter countdown this week, by the way. It's been a relatively complicated update process with the world maintenance going on simultaneously, and the timer got put back to 10 mins by mistake.

Strange reason.
The change arose because there's places in the Wilderness where a friendly target can just stand for ages while you teleport back and forth to them to skill faster, etc. That's not something we were comfortable leaving, and we felt that limiting how many times you could teleport to the same person would be smoother than carving out chunks of Wilderness where the spell just refused to work.

As hands are modeled as a single model with geometry on the left and on the right, and some players have wristguards while others do not, it's actually quite hard to make the hook item appear differently based on your hand's default model. A second hook item could be created as the alternative form, perhaps.

While players do tend to favour one form of content over another, we can't rely on the assumption that if someone's usually into PKing they'll never ever feel like abusing the spell for other purposes. Even if we'd made some of the other changes you wanted without a poll, the low-level Wilderness still includes some of these issues.

Those arrows tend to be inaccurate as the Wilderness has non-continuous terrain, with dungeons not mapped where they properly ought to be, but if people don't mind it being a bit limited, I can adapt the arrow code used in Clan Wars for the 'King of the Hill' mode to do something approximate for BH.

Actually, that's something I suggested to the original dev on the project when he first made BH, though he was unable to include it.

And unfortunately we're not going to be able to make the spell work completely differently based on whether you've got more history doing PKing than skilling. Plus the ragging potential was a real thing too.

Sorry, we needed to shuffle our use of the older hosting centres to make space for other things coming to those. I appreciate people do get attached to their favourite world numbers, though :(

A lot of the POH-related stuff you posted earlier sounded fine. It's been suggested that we aim for more medium-sized content, though, since we've just had an entire month of small QoL jobs (which is nearly at its end).

The one above the head was extremely easy, whereas the other thing you're asking for is a considerably bigger job, and rather more complicated too. That's probably why the original dev wasn't able to do it at the time.

Can do. There's been some difference of opinion among players about where to put it, and - as you may imagine - players have asked for a lot of other things too, but I'm personally quite keen on this feature.

I get that you want it, yes. As I described earlier in this thread, that's not a quick thing you're asking for.

There's certainly plenty of room for options on that hotspot, so I guess the questin is, would it take a lot of dev time?

Just about anything in POH takes quite a lot of dev time. Even that servant money bag thing. Rooms that might contain exit portals tend to need specific code checks on them, and the fairy ring / spirit tree patch would need to learn not to mistake the portal for one of their teleport features. It's entirely do-able, of course. With time.

N.B. Looking at the comments earlier in this thread from players who feel this week's update was too small, just be aware that if you keep asking for stuff like this which is ultimately quite small in impact, you'll have to accept update weeks like this :)

You'll see the reason earlier in this thread. I'm afraid even if the players who were mostly abusing it may not have been PKers themselves, it did need addressing.

Look, that's a lot of questions with relatively little to do with the thread. For all the "can you do x?" "can you do y?" "can you do z?" questions, they sound feasible if they're wanted. Again, the list of things players want is not short, and frankly we could spend more than a week just implementing the catalogue of things posted solely by you in this one thread. Regarding the (relevant) point about changes turning up in the newspost without explanations, I'd be fine with having more of an explanation in there in future. Regrettably we didn't have as much time for writing the newspost as we'd have liked today - the server rearrangements didn't really help with update preparations.

Managing the game does indeed take time, but frankly most of our time goes on implementing other things players requested. If one were to complain "hey, I posted 100 great ideas and you didn't do a single one of them", the honest answer would have to be that we can't develop more than a few things per week, and with a huge number of suggestions coming in from various platforms (forums, Twitter, Reddit, Discord, in-game chat, etc.) it shouldn't come as a surprise when one's great idea doesn't get into the game. It doesn't mean that your idea was ignored, or that the entire platform was ignored. It just means we've got finite capacity to act on your requests.

More devs would be nice, but the company's been pretty good about expanding our team lately - you may have seen the job adverts on our site - and meanwhile we'll keep on plugging away at the updates players ask for. Like we did for the last 4 years.
