To be honest it might give potential to recycle items which will help the runescape economy. I mean currently pretty useless items like talismans could become useful or even stabilize saturated magic items. I like the idea.

you're so petty Trample. it's not like they make a new skill every year. not like your clan is even 2% of the community. but good luck on that. just because someone no life's 200m xp in every skill doesn't mean new skills shouldn't be added.

smithing and crafting are already kinda useless. There's no real reason to get 99 in the besides the cape since you can just buy everything from other players. I don't see this skill being any different.

I don't mind magic armor crafting, but it should be added to either runecrafting or crafting instead of being a new skill, or just not exist.

I can see both sides of this, however I'd probably vote
NO
.

It's not a new skill, but rather a re-skin of two other pre-existing skills. Just add it to the crafting table.

Let's have some new content for current skills! I have 99 Prayer but in reality, you only need 77 to maximise, however 99 Prayer points are useful in combat.

Adding re-skins to "fill in the gaps" doesn't seem all that justified to me. Why not add a beta? Someone else mentioned this earlier in the thread; it'd be a great way to gather feedback and see whether or not players like it. Don't do an RS3 and just add it because "oh we're already half way through development, cannae stop now". It's the exact same reason as to why I quit in the first place, all those years ago. Let's not have a repeat. ;)

All in all, I don't think it will add anything new to the game. Add these as bonuses to Crafting and/or Smithing, and you've got yourself a winner. :)

Making mage armours can be done with the crafting skill if its that important to make them from scratch. And the imbued rewards can come from a different piece of content. It just seems dumb that smithing can make rune armour at lvl 90s when you will definitely not need it by the time you reach that smithing level. This will probably have the same affect.

This. Smithing needs a rework BADLY. It is so, so badly outdated. Would it make any sense to need 99 crafting to make black d'hide? No--and black d'hide is more like dragon armor tier than rune, so how much more useless is needing 99 smithing to make all the rune armor? You need less smithing to make a dragon platebody than a rune one for heaven's sake. Fix the trash skills you have now before you go introducing new ones.

The idea of warding makes sense and initially I liked the idea. As I read the comments of others I was also swayed into the no category.

First, the creation of the items could definitely be moved to crafting. Make a robe, crafting, sew a hat, crafting, making boots, definitely crafting. That portion makes sense. The next portion of making the item magical falls into the Magic category like enchanting bolts or jewelry. I don't disagree that Runecrafting could help with I'm using magical energies into the items.

So essentially take items add them crafting, and then make a relevant level of magic necessary to imbue those items with a magic spell requiring different levels of energy from Runecrafting gathering.

That sounds complicated as it would require 3 different skills, so you could just make the splashing element of attacking Runestones the way to gather energy and thus improve your magic that way, but do we really want Skilling to be the way to improve a combat skill...?

hi, i'd like to add my opinion on the topic.

I see a lot of people who say 'no' to warding are really high level, max stat, best loot, fastest xp oriented players. i'd like to say that there are still a lot of us out there who enjoy the journey of the game, rather than the highest xp/hr ratios and so on. i think you could fill a lot of gaps and bring a lot of cool new content by making this skill, if you spending a lot of thoughtful time developing it.

A lot of people call the skill useless, because, well you can just buy max mage. well, im sorry Mr. " level 99 in 'use->tinderbox->logs' " that you feel this skill is useless because you can buy/grind max mage. "Why cant i make splitbark myself" is literally the first question i asked myself when i first encountered it way back when. it NEVER made sense that you couldnt create magic armor.

in order to make this skill appeal to players of all levels, you must find a way to orient the skill to players of all levels. unfortunately Mr. "level 99 in 'click on the next agility obstacle' " is never going to tell you that this skill has any use unless he can make some cash or some new cool armor from it. I think someone said this already, splitbark helmet design, really?.

incorporate more useful and cool things, but without going overboard. spend some time beefing up crafting and smithing to level the playing field even further with crafted armor and ammo for all combat types. throw some stuff just for fun in there while you're at it.

I vote a big YES. don't let us down.
