The aim of this thread is to help clans become more confident in their grasp of basic warring knowledge and hopefully become more aware of the fun of clan wars. If you have any questions about warring strats, gear etc, please do not hesitate to leave a post
Warring isn't simply about the number of combatants and their levels. It is also about strategy and being able to exploit numbers and levels of your team effectively. As you learn the basics of warring you will be able to find new ways of winning by yourself.
The clan warring mentors are experienced warrers who are willing to assist clans who need help learning the basics of warring. They will meet with your clan's leader(s) and war leader(s) and cover basics such as Piling, Tanking, Calling, Locations, and many other useful tips that will help your clan succeed.
We hope that more clans will be more confident about joining the clan wars community after gaining a better understanding of how the activity works
What a Mentor could help you with:
- Understanding and practicing basic warring strategies and customs - Helping your clan choose opponents your level to have friendly wars with - Explain and assist with warring procedures such as declarations
How long does Mentorship last?
To give more clans access to Mentors, each mentorship may last for up to two months. The clan will then have to reapply for mentorship.
Are there any rewards for becoming a Mentor?
The best Mentors will be players who are genuinely interested in improving the clan wars community. The result of their effort will be a reward in itself For now, the only other perk we can offer is allowing Mentors to fight for the clans they are mentoring in the RSW, as long as that clan is not in the top 4 of the ladder being fought in. It should be fun for experienced warrers to fight alongside a learner clan they are familiar with, as well as their main clan -
Before asking for a Mentor, please ensure there is some interest in learning to war beforehand. The Mentor is using up his/her own free time to help you out so the least your clan can do is:
- Treat the Mentor with respect (listen to their advice, use correct gear, don’t fool around etc) - Ensure that enough people turn up (on time) to any war practices that may be scheduled. Give sufficient notice to the Mentor if a meeting/practice needs to be cancelled for any reason. This may be done by posting on this thread. - Ensure your clan allows guests at least during war practice with the Mentor - Be willing to use a voice server such as Discord or TeamSpeak (if you do not own a channel, the RSW may lend you one). The importance of a voice server cannot be stressed enough – it is essential for improving your clan’s coordination and communication during wars and practices.
Failing to comply with these points may result in the clan not being offered mentorship in the future.
Mentorship Application Form:
After reading and agreeing to the above, please fill out the following form (and post it on this thread) if your clan would like a warring Mentor.
- Name of Clan: - Leaders: - War Leaders: - Main Clan Timezone: - Does your clan have a voice server the Mentor could use? - Would you like a Mentor for EOC or Legacy? - Would you like to be assigned a specific mentor? (Subject to availability): - Do you agree to comply with the mentorship terms?
We will then try and find a Mentor for your clan as soon as possible, if necessary.
Please be aware it is possible this may take some time due to timezones and availabilities. It is also possible your clan may be given a lower priority for a mentor if it is already considered to be experienced in clan wars.-
Warring mentors must be prepared to commit a fair amount of time to their role. You will be having extensive discussions with the clan’s leaders, attending and co-ordinating wars and war practices and so on. You must also be prepared to use a voice server.
While offering to become a Mentor is admirable in itself, a decent amount of warring knowledge is required. If necessary, mentor applicants may be given a quick in-game trial before being given the status. Trial topics may include: - Warring strategies and gear/inventory set-ups - Tanking skills - Calling knowledge - Knowledge of RSW rules and procedures
Please note that Mentor status may be withdrawn if: - The learning clan is not treated with respect - The role as a Mentor is badly done or not taken seriously (e.g. missing meetings and practices without warning)
