There are no more bears.
Hello, OHS here. This will be my first thread created in a few years. Most of you may and/or may not know me, but I've been around here for three years now. I originally wrote A New Era and stopped writing the story shortly thereafter. This thread is designated to be my story dump. All my short stories (new and old) will be posted here when they are written or recovered.
Constructive criticism is needed and following all Jagex forum rules is a must.
Common sense is recommended and leave your stupidity at the door.
Thank you!

True Love (For the Lady's Hand story contest)
Her hair. It’s so smooth…so soft. I can barely stand it. I sit there for hours all cuddled up on my bed and staring into her beautiful brown eyes, but I can never get enough. Such amazing eyes. Brilliant and as deep as the world upon us, they leave me absolutely mesmerized and completely in her control.
Her gaze binds me and I will not bear to lose her again. I’ll do anything not to lose her. When I hold her close, I can smell the gentle aroma of fabric softener, undoubtedly the aftermath of a night spent with me on my fresh-pressed sheets. Curled close, her head nuzzled deep into my arm, I can hear her rhythmic breaths as she sleeps peacefully. Tranquil. With me. I love her to death and without her, I’d be lost. I can only hope she loves me just as much.
Resting my head on my pillow, I let out a heavy sigh and feel her stirring. She looks up at me with those wonderful eyes and my heart leaps.
*Hi there, love”
I scratch behind her ears and she purrs in content.

The Clairvoyant (For the Lady's Hand story contest)
It will not cease to be,
For me, the future is the past.
I know what’s to come
And still I yearn
But as I close my eyes
I find no surprise to find
Her soft lips and gentle kiss
Will never last
The future cannot be changed
Sands shift, but foundations remain
The blocks can be rearranged
But the end result stays the same.
The rules are set
She smiles and the favor I return.
I see the truth
But I can still change things yet.
Passionate nights and promises of undying love
Gifts and romance and whispers of
naught but happiness and dreams.
Their lives are filled with bliss
But as she sleeps in his arms at night
He stays awake and mourns the future’s light
The prophecy remains hidden in the seams.
She thinks the world of him
And he knows that she will never go
Waltzing in the rain
A refrain from all his sorrow
Trust in love and receive the blessings
From the gods high up above
But their smooth stones are troubled
By that single tiny scratch
His thoughts are always strained
The idea is always tightly latched.
Fading love he cannot bear
So he moves to hold her in
Alas, a dove cannot be caged
The aged two become a troubled pair
The scratch is branching out
And the stones are crumbling down
Until, finally two become one and one
There’s dissonance in the sound.
What he tried to stop has just begun.
The sands of his world have shifted
But the foundation’s always there.

A Sonnet That Isn't A Sonnet (Written for Creative Writing)
Warbling warnings announce newfound travels
Mad scientists planting sinister seeds.
Waiting, watching as the time unravels
Nefarious plots and dastardly deeds.
Nothing appears to repair what’s broken
The past, thus the present, remains as changed.
History fades with each new line spoken
What once was sane has now become deranged.
Swirls of chaos mixed; no more justice here.
No more innocence or peace to expend,
Only oppression and the people’s fear.
Brutal regimes and hell: their only end.
Early on, they had lost their will to fight,
They hide together now in fading light.
~~~
Untitled (Written to make my gf mad)
Twisting, twirling, ebbing flow
ends with two ways, at least.
Heartbreak, hard loss, both will go.
Or meet in front a priest.
Both paths do lead to anew
Forging bonds and wisdom found
Pain and peace through and through
To another we are bound.
If the other steps away
And we are left alone
Our thoughts will go astray
Or our minds will turn to stone.
Our hearts must deal with the strain
Or love will not be found again.
The bright sunshine of today reminds me it’s too warm for a coat.
No breeze, no snow: It’s truly the end of a long winter
and the thought of warm days at the beach are but an inch from reality.
Piles of muddy slush are only reminders of the driveway encompassed
by former mountains of snow created by the plow. The ineptitude
of my younger brother wreaks havoc with our old tomcat, who’s running in circles.
The hopefuls dance in little circles
with a white smile and a tiny flag pinned to their coat.
Promises of hope are used to divert attention from the ineptitude
of them all. Still: the masses choose one for winter.
They give their thanks, but go back to being encompassed
in their own world, never quite knowing reality.
Finally, distant lands bring to them a reality
Check. A looming, omnipresent threat circles
In the air and large vocabularies encompassed
In promises of destruction cause the world to button its coat.
Bearing down upon us is a new, but ever dangerous, winter.
We never see the truth. Such is the media’s ineptitude.
Watching my dog eat a June bug reminds me once more of its ineptitude.
Sadly, instead of a summer of change, I find reality
at the front door, demanding to be let in. A windy winter
is oftentimes the coldest felt, but as I saw the shadow fly circles
in the sky, my blood ran cold. The sweat on my skin: a thin coat.
A tiny, tiny dot and a sudden flash. My world encompassed.
Hundreds of millions of ants scramble. Encompassed
in the minds of billions are Ragnarok and Armageddon. Ineptitude
runs rampant as anarchy reigns and the lights that coat
our Earth blink out one by one. The truth is reality.
And reality is now cold. We all run around in circles
trying to escape, but there is none. Only a green winter.
We huddle together for warmth as a winter
gust bites into our skin. Our thoughts are encompassed
with ice: there’s nothing left to think about. Ash circles
above and the hacking coughs of the people prove the ineptitude
of those once elected to lead. The harsh bringings of reality
come crashing down as I weep to myself in a tattered coat.
Bits and pieces of a winter coat
flutter in the wind. Encompassed in reality
is the fact that ineptitude is no more. In an empty world, the fabric circles.
Innfest Round Three (Tag-Team)
Dreamweaver:
I entered the park this morning and greeted Sir Tiffy Cashien as I always do, but today he had some news for me. Most surprising news!
"Did you hear, Wysin? Queen Ellamaria of Varrock has had a splendid garden grown," he exclaimed, "A work of which the gnomes themselves would be proud. They say she even has a magnificent white tree."
The colour drained from my face. "A white tree, you say?" Gasping, I slumped onto the bench next to him. "A white tree. Incredible." We sat there for several long minutes in silence, though I felt his eyes upon me. "Tiffy," I said at last, straightening up, "Let me tell you a story."
"It was ten years ago, almost to the day, though I remember it as if it were last week. It was the middle of the night and I was just getting home, hoping she would be asleep. But before my hand could lift the latch, the door flew open and there stood my fiancée, furious.
"Wysin," she screamed, "You were at the apothecary again! And the hebetudinous guttersnipe that works there?"
I looked aghast, hoping for verisimilitude. "Ella, my lov..."
Rage burned in her eyes. "Do not take me for a fool, Wysin. Your inculcations of affection are hollow. How long has it been, you wretch?"
"No, it's not like..."
Ellamaria, my wife-to-be, wheeled inside and slammed the door, but not a minute later, she was back, a bag in each hand.
"You disgust me, you and your cowardly imbroglio. But it is over. I am leaving immediately and I expect never to see you again! Ever!"
"Where to? It is past midnight? Ellamaria, let me..."
She spoke softly then, but with absolute resolve. "Roald is taking me in. I should have gone to him years hence. The prince is a better man than you will ever be."
I sank to my knees, the reality of my actions finally sinking in. "I deserve no more, yet I beg of you, please accept a last humble gift before you leave."
I dashed to the back garden, expecting her to be gone before I returned, but whether from a shred of caring or mere curiosity, she had waited. I opened my hand and revealed two large, pearl-like seeds.
"In this, the obsequy to our relationship, I have one final pleading request. I shall keep one of these seeds, but the other is for you. These were to be your wedding gift, but now all I hope is that yours becomes an incunabulum of reconciliation. The day you set this seed to soil, I shall know you offer forgiveness. I will grow its twin here, in the earnest hope that we may one day meet again."
OHS:
For a brief moment, her hard features seemed to soften. Then the beauty presented in every inch of her delicate face locked itself away and was replaced by a mask of seething rage.
'"No Wysin! I shall not take this! When you asked me to marry you, I said ‘yes’ because I knew that your love would never end. I would grow old and my beauty would fade, but you would love me as much as the day you proposed."
'My beloved, filled with an ecumenical mix of emotions, looked down at me, her nares flaring. "But I was wrong. The man I am betrothed to now dismisses me like some toy."
'Ellamaria turned away from me. She was trembling, and despite her efforts to hide it, crying. I reached out automatically to console her, to let her know I still did, and always would, love her. I gently touched her hand and she gave a startled cry. She spun around and slapped me with enough force to push me off my feet. Those two delicate pearls were knocked from my grasp and spilled to the asperous ground, spinning into the darkness. A rustle of soft silk and then nothing but the lonely chirp of a single cricket echoed in the early morning air.
'I thought about chasing after her as I stood up and dusted myself off, but even then I knew she would not forgive me. She had given me nothing but love and devotion, even with a prosperous Roald wooing her, and I had broken her heart.'
Sir Tiffy threw a handful of crumbs onto the ground, hoping a friendly pair of red-breasted ducks by the pond would waddle over to his bench. "Hearts can be broken quite easily, but they can always be mended. It takes much time, but they can be mended."
The ducks cautiously approached the bench and eyed Tiffy with suspicion. When he threw down more crumbs, they span in a blur of plumage and stumbled back to the pond. Sir Tiffy picked up a bright feather left behind, twirling the solferino down thoughtfully between his fingers.
"Hmm, not much good for an aigrette, but beautiful all the same. Wysin, what did you do with those seeds?"
I looked up. "After Ellamaria left, I tried retrieving them." A twinge of sadness swept over me. "I could only find one. I have searched for hours, but..."
I leapt to my feet. "Sir Tiffy! The white tree in Ellamaria's garden. It is from that very seed? How? Did you..."
Sir Tiffy smiled at me with a twinkle in his eye. "It is time, my friend."
Without another word, I ran towards my little storage shed at the end of the park, my spirit suddenly elated. Bursting through the wooden door, the familiar smell of compost filled my nose. I fumbled furiously in the dark corner, the home of a precious gift long forgotten, and there it was. The white seed, after ten long years, had finally began to sprout.
Grabbing a spade, I scooped up the tiny seedling and headed outdoors.
As I started digging, Sir Tiffy’s words echoed through my head.
"It is time, my friend."
