I get the feeling that that is considered some kind of musical masterpiece by connoisseurs of whatever decade that was made in, and as a result, I'm going to sound "ignorant," but everyone has their own opinions and tastes. I thought that was torturous - and yes, I listened to all 17 minutes.

2/10.

At the risk of getting more judgment for saying this, just to give you an idea, I don't like The Beatles very much, either. I recognize, acknowledge, and appreciate that hundreds of millions, if not a couple or a few billions are madly in love with John, Paul, George, and Ringo, but their sound just doesn't appeal to me.

That said,

To the next poster: Take an ear to Two Steps From Hell - Love and Loss.

Oh no not at all - That wasn't directed at you, it was a general statement, for anyone who sees that post.

Thanks.

5/10. Catchy, listen-able, not torturous, but generic Red Hot Chili Pepper sound. I didn't find anything particularly special in it.

Next poster, let's go...

Clint Mansell - Death Is The Road To Awe

I didn't like that very much, I found that not only to be generic Metallica, but unnecessarily repetitive and boring. It all sounded the same.

In fact, it wasn't generic Metallica. Metallica's actually pretty good, that was beneath generic Metallica. :/

2/10

Next poster...:

Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna

I was avoiding submitting this one but I don't really know why, so, here goes!

(Side note: There's many "alternate" I guess forms of it, but be sure to check the 6:35 one that should begin with a woman singing :o)

Heard this waaaay too many times haha.

Not my style, but I can recognize it's very popular.

4.7/10 I suppose.

Nightwish - The Poet and the Pendulum (full ~14:00 version)

I clicked the first one on Youtube. Was I supposed to find the one with the girl?

That was the idea from my having said that, yes. :@

I found that pretty bad. Repetitive, boring, and not very artistic. X.X Sorry haha.

1/10.

6.5/10. It was good. I assume you're into classical/orchestra music?

Used to be moreso than now, actually - Symphonic Power Metal and Movie Soundtracks, and the like, yeah. Nowadays I listen to more EDM than most other things, but I'm more interested in what people think of that which they likely haven't heard. ;)

Let's see...

Imma try this again.

Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna. Be sure to find the version that is ~6:35 (NOT 6:32), that starts with a woman singing. The easiest way to find it on YouTube (assuming that's what you use) is by searching "Requiem For A Dream Original Song."

^So that was... interesting. I watched the music video, the girl is very pretty, and lol @ the shopping cart at the end.

The song was catchy, but the lyrics... well, lol, they were a bit... odd.

I'll give it a 6.5/10. :-)

10/10 for what it is

Five Finger Death Punch - Wrong Side Of Heaven.

A solid 4.4/10. I really enjoyed the introduction, but the rest of the song sounded very generic and not particularly original. I didn't find much of it to stand out at all.

@Next poster: I hope the OP is OK with me offering two songs, and telling you to choose the one that you are more intrigued by, solely from reading their titles. They're both by the same man.

Dax Johnson -- The Random and The Purpose
Dax Johnson -- Merciful Dwelling

Enjoy, and please be sure to delineate which of the two you chose. :-)

I've definitely been a metalhead in the past (I don't listen to too much metal anymore), and all the music there appealed to my inner metalhead of the past, but the singing kills it for me. Metal got me through some of my most difficult periods, but I admit I never liked songs with so much growling. The metal I always listened to was Symphonic Power Metal -- Like Nightwish, Amberian Dawn, etc.

IDK man, I'd say just a notch above a 5/10.

Seeing as the last poster picked Merciful Dwelling, let's now drop The Random and the Purpose for the next poster!

6/10

The dancing was very cool and well choreographed. The song sounded really nice, too, but it's just not entirely my style. The difference between quality and preference! Haha.

It's one thing to dislike the music other people post, and it's a whole other thing to be blatantly disrespectful about it. If you're not willing to respect other peoples' music tastes, then don't bother posting here. You're posting in a thread where anyone with any taste in music can post to share the music they enjoy for others to listen to. The whole point is to broaden your horizons a little, and probably end up listening to something you wouldn't end up listening to otherwise. If you're going to respond so rudely to someone's song choice, GTFO.

And, for the record: It's actually a really nice song. I enjoy it; it's on one of my playlists. If you had actually listened to it instead of judging it purely for her name, you'd probably see it's really not that bad. She's grown a lot as an artist from when she was a child and participated in something she had little control over after her parents put her up to it.

Your complete lack of open-mindedness and respect is a serious disappointment for a fellow metalhead.

The Police - Secret Journey

6.5/10.

It's not really the type of music I listen to nowadays, but I enjoyed the sound a lot. It somehow felt different from most music of its same genre, even though I have little familiarity with The Police.
