Greetings.

Unfortunately, whereas it used to be trivial effort to start playing any minigame, most are all but deserted nowadays. The spotlight system was implemented to combat this, but it's had a counterproductive effect so far, creating only breeding grounds for afk'ers. And then Jagex won't update or improve minigames for being 'unpopular' - in my book, that would be an excellent reason to update something.

This thread lists a number of relatively quick improvements on a per-minigame basis (henceforth PMB) in no particular order, and I've thrown in some D&Ds for good measure too. Now, the list is quite extensive and will be updated as people notice more issues. Therefore I don't expect these suggestions to be implemented in one go; or anytime soon for that matter.

Finally, the spotlight system needs a thorough rework to eradicate afk'ing, which is harmful in team minigames. Set a required amount of PMB participation to get thaler. Add more activity bars, or PMB afk checks. Either way, as it is now, it's not helping. Most importantly: no rewards for boosters, leechers or afk'ers! More helpful posts regarding this on pages 2 and 3!

If you ask me, minigames are the 'endgame' content for players. Which content provides a neverending, never-the-same pool of fun even after maxing and all? Exactly. Some of them need quite a bit of love, however - to update them is long overdue. And even small ninja updates go a long way.

Minigames:

Fist of Guthix:
- Make hunted's defensive stats much weaker and fully disable retaliation
- Allow hunters to left-click attack their target in player stacks
- Stop the hunter from following when their target uses a teleorb
- Reduce the 'you can only attack your opponent' spam for multicombat attacks
- Make matching fairer, combat stat-wise
- Add nature runecrafting and Menaphite fishing gloves
- Update stats and effects of druidic, combat and battle robes and give the shields their strength bonuses back (see also page 42)
- Allow gloves to inherit owned elite outfit gloves' effects

- Increase charges on runecrafting gloves somewhat (see page 4)
- Allow shark gloves to work on baron and wobbegong sharks
- Allow herb gloves to work on noted herbs and other sources (see other thread)

Trouble Brewing:
- Add left-click options to all hoppers, boilers, kettles, sweetgrub mounds, fires, sabotaged stuff and workbenches
- Tremendously increase xp rewards, scaling with level
- Add quick-hop options to the shortcuts
- Add an activity bar
- Increase the flower limit on kettles a bit
- Fix the pirate ship banners' animations in EoC and Legacy
- Return the end-of-game interface
- See page 53 for brewing suggestions
- Replace sabotage with uncommon random events in which pirate NPCs sabotage

- Add all difficulties of clue scroll to the rewards (including master)
- Make brewin' guides available from Jimmy
- Add win/loss jingles
- Disable head overrides

- Add doubloons from TH as a reward for the winners, in addition to pieces of eight
- Add hiscores (e.g. amount of wins)

Flash Powder Factory moved to bottom post

Barbarian Assault:
- Make using statues quicker (and less interruptable)
- Reduce bonus xp from waves 1-9 and buff that from wave 10 accordingly in both modes
- Make the role circles appear
- Allow left-click healing
- Allow the team leader to spawn King sooner
- Add Penance King & Queen pets!
- Buff the (charged) collector's insignia to tier 3 (4) luck
- Add penance invention components that give prayer-boosting perks
- Add a gamble-x option; add clue scrolls to gambling

- Allow King kills to count as Queen kills
- Allow tridents to be upgraded further via e.g. shade skulls to level 82
- Make (de)activating hard mode easier, e.g. via rewards totem
- Make Assault and Battery play on regular waves instead of Pirates of Penance
- If possible, make the call abilities universal (see page 15)
- Raise egg hopper limit to 10

Burthorpe Games Room:
- Add rating hiscores for each game
- Add Battlefish after Some Like it Cold, and Rune-Draw after Ghosts Ahoy

- Add a sigil reward earnt by high rating that has some niche bonus effect

The Great Orb Project:
- Make the essence rewarded from each altar stackable, but unstable or just removed upon ending
- Add runecrafting (bonus) xp to the reward shop, and make the xp earnt inside the game scale with level to be rewarding
- Add hiscores (e.g. total altars captured)
- Redesignate world 61 to be F2P GOP again
- Remove TGOP items from Rinsit's shop, or add some RuneSpan items to Elriss's
- Make master rc skirts compatible with Morytania legs
- Reinstate runecrafting robes' combat stats (mostly for F2P)

- Allow orbs to pass through barriers of the same colour
- Add elemental talismans as rewards; make talismans noted when purchasing more than one
- Add a 'locate runesphere' option to talisman staves and a runesphere timer

Pest Control:
- Scale health on portals based on the amount of players
- Raise minimal damage required for rewards somewhat
- Give the void mace some bonus, since it cannot cast Claws of Guthix anymore

- Add hiscores (e.g. total commendations earnt)
- Add a bonus when dual-wielding Jessika's & Korasi's swords

Fishing Trawler:
- Allow more than one game to be played at a time on a world
- Decrease the maximum amount of people able to go on board, as the activity bar kicks people out at (near) maximum capacity because there is nothing to do
- Increase fishing xp tremendously
- Add shark outfit fragments as a reward
- Replace ropes with stackable 'net ropes' only usable in the minigame

- Add aquarium-related items as rewards, including golden turtle, tiger shark and ray eggs - chances increased by Ardougne cloak
- See Rikornak's posts on pages 23, 50, and 61 for more ideas

Blast Furnace:
- Lower the requirement to 45 Smithing, with a fee below that
- Add orichalkum, necronium and elder rune!
- Add a two-way mine cart (operated by Sten) from the Artisans Workshop; maybe allow respect to be earnt there
- Make it instanced and F2P (can only get in from AW, not Keldagrim)


Soul Wars:
- Make the entry portals more restrictive when admitting players, ensuring the teams have very close total combat
- Buff avatars a bit and explain how 120 Slayer works in the manual
- Buff pyrefiends' and jellies' health
- Let the activity bar deplete for non-ghosts in safe zones, and have fiends/jellies leave combat after receiving no damage for ~6 seconds (to combat afk'ing)

- Add the helm of corruption and its scrimshaws as rewards
- Allow the pets to be optionally added to the pet interface
- Add hiscores
- Allow clan-specific games
- Increase click radius for soul fragments
- Add some minor xp for depositing fragments/burying bones (page 35/36)
- Add the raids rings imbues and see page 57

Ranged Guild minigames:
- Add the skirmisher armour and level 1-60 reprisers as rewards
- See also post by Rikornak on page 34.


Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup:
- Increase stats of broodoo victims and make their weakness more effective against them
- Make trading sticks untradeable
- Allow faster fence repairing using Karamja gloves 2 and up
- Add dragonstones & onyxes to gem rocks as a Karamja diary reward, and make the rock always yield 3 gems
- Buff poison (see other thread)

- Add stock to all items in Gabooty's shop and add tattoos from mtx

Castle Wars:
- Add an activity bar!! Also, a damage threshold for rewards like Pest Control has.
- Make halos compatible with Ancient Curses and buff 'em
- Buff faithful shields; see page 38
- Lower hiscores threshold to 50 games
- Lower the comp cape requirement to 500 games played
- Add MA outfits and titles as silver rewards at appropriate prices and remove them from the thaler shop
- Allow the Ardougne cloak prayer buff to work after each death, not just at the start

- Allow chinchompas to collapse underground walls from a distance
- Add god masks, swag bags and swagger sticks from mtx as silver rewards
- Allow clan-specific games
- Add decorative armour overrides, unlocked upon purchase

Temple Trekking:
- Make shades, ghasts, snails and swamp snakes more dangerous; fix snakes' using magic rather than melee; tremendously increase all stats of the vampyres
- Allow Mort Myre music to play during the game
- Buff the ghast familiar

- Increase the radius of the coffin's holy blast by one tile
- Re-add the jingles for encountering a challenge, completing it, and finishing the trek (removed in 2011)
- Fix the holding animation for the walking stick
- Fix clipping issues on the xp books' covers
- Add optional overrides for the cosmetic rewards

Stealing Creation:
- Fix all bugs remaining, e.g. timer not working; score from damaging players still uses pre-EoC values, making it overpowered; clay tier selection
- Increase familiars' health
- Add some bonus to morphic shields to make them desirable e.g. level 90 damage soaking with level 65 stats (their degradation is broken too; fix it)
- Make the bonus xp scale with level and award bits of xp inside the game
- Limit draw distance like in the Wildy

- Add an activity bar
- Make main hands protect over off-hands on death
- Add 2h swords, crossbows, shields and wands
- Make jumping over walls/chasms faster and allow prayer switching inside fog
- Add hiscores (e.g. career best score)
- Damage players that stand too long at the enemy base (see page 25), and add a one-way escape tunnel to a fog patch inside the base
- Have pickpocketing steal fixed amounts (e.g. 100) of stackables and add a time limit to pickpocketing
- Add protean packs as rewards
- Let barriers show the remaining 'health' and clay plots the remaining resources
- Buff the sacred/volatile clay pickaxe to be equivalent to rune +3

Mage Training Arena:
- Make the minigame F2P (they have all spells needed), with limited rewards
- Swap the right-click alchemy options on items in the Alchemists' playground
- Add hiscores for each game (total pizzazz earnt)
- Add level 1-60 rebounders as rewards
- Buff all wands' and the mages' book's stats and give them special effects, as they're much harder to obtain than grifolic and mystic wands
- See page 37 for brilliant suggestions by Rikornak
- Add a teleport spell to the arena (maybe as reward)

- Add a few more telekinetic mazes
- Give infinity robes a set effect
- Add the alchemist's amulets to the rewards
- Add a book about the destruction of the arena somewhere

Duel Arena:
- Add hiscores (total duels won)

- Make herbs scale to one's levels and work with FoG herb gloves


Gnomeball:
- Increase xp a bit


Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza:
- Prevent F2P from buying bonus xp, or allow them to use it
- The instancing is flawed: players who enter may appear towards the end of a round, unable to make it in time, and not even start on round one. Fix this.

- Add a tradeable best-in-slot (exc veteran capes) F2P cape as a reward; see page 36

Vinesweeper:
- Add the hoe, magic beans and master farmer fragment packs as rewards
- Add more recent seeds to the shop, notably grapevine; make prices dynamic with respect to their GE value

- Add a ring that morphs you into a number (see here)
- Increase the flag limit to 15 or something
- Add a rabbit pet as a reward; cabbage for food

Heist:
- Sometimes, the game crashes completely...
- Make bonus xp scale with level
- Make the lobby an instance shard
- In NXT, the Canifis lighting is broken; limit draw distance to the lowest option too
- The building adjacent to the Al Kharid tannery can have loot on the first floor, but this floor is not accessible; so is one particular Darkmeyer building with a broken door
- Remove the delay when chasing a robber and re-accusing them

- Add the guard outfit as a reward
- Keep perks when prestiging
- Distribute rewards based on amount of loot deposited/arrests made, instead of game duration
- Add something to counter afk'ing (activity bar may not be a good idea)
- Add a new music track
- Prevent banks from appearing extremely close to deposit locations
- Allow clan-specific games
- Add a patch-bomb-esque consumable Hunter reward: checking and resetting all traps in the vicinity

TzHaar Fight Cave:
- Increase TokKul reward
- Review monster stats, some might need buffing

Pyramid Plunder:
- Make black ibis and sceptres more common on higher level chambers
- Make damage from poison more substantial

Dominion Tower:
- Buff more bosses (e.g. Pest Queen, Nial, BK guardian)

- Add a voiced taunt for Vanstrom (e.g. 'Fear will be your downfall!') and fix his icon
- Add a toggle to play each boss's respective music track during fights rather than Dominion Tower I-V
- Balance factor rewards so that harder bosses give more DF
- Have the super/extreme medallion protect against dragonfire inside the tower

Shades of Mort'ton:
- Increase average value of the higher level rewards (esp with new Smithing metals coming)

- Allow Flamtaer hammer to be equipped or toolbelted
- Add vampyre fangs and dragon ceremonial armour from MTX as a reward
- Add golden Barrows ornament kits
- Increase stats and requirements for necromancer robes
- Allow shade skulls to be added to higher level staves (e.g. Iban, light, darkness, Penance master trident and Armadyl), and such staves to disassemble into undead components

Flash Powder Factory:
- Lift the limit on pickpocketing one's last victim/thief after a few minutes if there are no other players
- Make refining apparatus spawn more often if there are few players
- The timer and X-minutes-left chat messages aren't aligned
- Remove the Brianpoint cap, as you can get a much higher score than 1260 (up to 1800 or higher)
- Allow owned pieces of the factory outfit to be reclaimed for free, and allow it to share the effects of the botanist's outfit, if owned

- Add hiscores (e.g. record score)
- Make xp rewards for larger amounts of points slightly higher, like the agility arena

Conquest:
- Add a spectator mode
- Fix the camera controls in NXT

- Make the deflector more useful

Player-Owned Ports:
- Add hiscores. (e.g. total distance travelled)

TzHaar Fight Pit:
- Add the pits to the spotlight rotation
- Add the music track In the Pits to the minigame
- Increase TokKul rewards, add obsidian charms and shards (post TBoE), and give these to all participants based on their performance
- Add uncommon rewards for the winner only, e.g. onyx bolt tips, obsidian weapons, gems

- Add (very) rare rewards for the winner only if enough players participated, e.g. unowned pieces of obsidian armour (post TBoE), the lava whip from mtx, ring of stone, uncut onyx, cosmetic additions to TzRek-Jad, fire and kiln capes (maybe and only if they have already been unlocked and are unowned at the time)
- Obsidian armour is much more useful than minigame armour, which is harder to obtain, in the Pits; perhaps look at that
- Add hiscores (e.g. total victories)

Rat Pits:
- Add back the Rat Pits areas, but keep the minigame disabled. The characters have lore and funny dialogue.


TzHaar Fight Kiln:
- Award some TokKul like with the Pits and Cave.

Other
It's easy to miss the interface when being given a piece of minigame hybrid armour. Add the ability to claim your piece from the minigame host or Stanley Limelight if you missed it, and have the same people provide free replacements if it's destroyed.

Do not add skilling outfits to the thaler store, and remove existing ones from there (and from mtx).

Miscellania:


Familiarisation:
- Award a small amount of Summoning xp after each game, based on the amount of shards collected
- Make mental focus drain slightly quicker; gathering 60 shards is too easy
- Add newer tertiaries as rewards, and make the ones received relevant to one's level

- Allow multiple charm enhancing tickets to be owned
- Add the fang of Mohegan as a reward, rechargeable through the D&D
- Until A Bit TOO Familiar is completed, ensure players who own the shaman's outfit always play as a new familiar

Balthazar's Bonanza:
- Fix the shoulder graphics for the maroon female spectator shirt model.

Livid Farm:
- Add Surge spells and certain Seren spells to the Borrowed Power selection

- Allow Lunar lumber to be converted in batches
- Make random events slightly more frequent, and have them reward runes again
- Decrease produce points from the fishing merchant, it's ridiculous atm

Penguin Hide & Seek:
- Make sure double/triple points aren't lost when going over the cap

Dorgesh-Kaan market trading:
- Increase profits across the board

- Add some newer foods to the pool of accepted foods, but not fish
- Allow cavefish and rocktail to be sold, since those live underground

Shooting Star:
- Make it easier to mine for groups of 1-4 people
- Since the D&D tracker exists, make POH telescopes give exact times and locations
- Instead of despawning after a while, make the star sprite appear
- Add magic golem outfit fragments to the rewards for people with 70 mining
- Make the stone spirits level-relevant

- Increase the stardust limit; see page 44 for reward scaling ideas
- Allow geodes (incl. metamorphic) to be mined

Tuska Islands:
- Make it F2P, accessed through Wizard Chambers (block desert/Mazcab)
- Increase the point cap per island
- Make the world event abilities rewards here
