they typically do it on Fridays, not the First of the month.
It's just that many of the last few months happened to have the 1st on a Friday/Saturday right before the release Monday.

Oh, thanks for the info. I just assumed that, being a "month ahead", it would always come out before the actual month.

"Once the dust has settled on the events of Desperate Times, we will be announcing what happens next – not least, the big summer update of 2019. So, if you want to find out what you will be playing over the coming months, and how we got there, then this new quest is very much the place to start. And who knows – perhaps things will escalate before the announcement… we’re signing off before we say any more!"

Sounds like there will be unannounced content after the quest but they won't tell now since it will spoil the lore. :)

I think May is the month of lore of the future of Gielinor.

I am still pondering why the Elder and Dragonkin quest requires You are it. Perhaps Draken and/or Charon somehow have something to do with the future of Gielinor too?

My understanding is that what is coming after the new quest on the 10th, and Seren Weekend, will be a new World Event.

Presumably, in addition to changing something on the map, it will provide opportunities to gain XP more easily in at least a few skills during the event.

I'm not getting my hopes too high considering how Jagex has proven that they can't stick to anything good these days but I still do hope that this will mark a change of pace for RS3 development. I want more quests, more lore, more narrative. The quests and story of RuneScape are a huge part of why many of us fell in love with this game in the first place. They set themselves up with HUGE momentum starting with The World Wakes and they hit full stride when RS3 launched, but they really lost their way since then. We could have seen quests with stories unlike any ever told in fantasy RPGs and along with world events -- which affected permanent change on story and geography of the game world -- RS3 really was set to become one of the greatest modern MMOs. Unfortunately, Jagex gave into the crying and screwed all of that up.

However, as much as they've hurt my trust in them, I'm still hoping that the stuff Obo was hinting at in the video will mark a renewed focus on the epic story content we were receiving thanks to RS3!
