In one of their last developer Q&A's, they indicated that their goal for now is "any new content, we will try not to add more dailies"
With 1 team focused on M/S for 16 months, another large group of devs focused on getting 2 games on mobile, and all the other BS, I'm not stunned that reducing dailyscape hasn't been a priority. Heck, with the current gamebreaking bug on Shooting Stars, and the major rework on M/S ... maybe they'll yank that from content.
Maybe ya'll can help me understand what it is that you consider to be "dailyscape"?
I know that it is usually activities based on things you do daily. ie: Bork, limit on Divine Locations, daily D&Ds.
The big dailies that get pushed by Jagex: - Using your "free key" when you log in at daily reset - your newest daily challenge
After that, it's something of a choice of what you do and don't do.
Now, I do agree that things like collecting all of your free rewards from quests (ie: Bert's Sand) and Achievement Areas (ie: Fruits, Tokkul, P-ess, Flax) could also make in on the list. But this is one where a mechanic could be added to auto-collect all of that for you.
Posted something on Reddit to see what people think. specifically: daily quest and achievement diary daily rewards
Like I said before, maybe by carving up small sections of the Dailyscape experience and thrusting ideas that get tons of support, yet at the same time, are simple(?) to implement, maybe the devs will move forward with it.
Put a discussion on Reddit for Dailyscape reduction for daily challenges?
Suggestion 1: cut back the total amount of 'stuff' needed from Artisan skills They did it with Mining and Smithing. Mine a few ores or fill like 2 urns. Smith 1 item in X metal (no restriction on what you smith, so it can be 1 bar or a 5 bar item)
- Crafting X [hide] Vambraces - (usually like 300 Vambraces) - Cooking the 100+ foods - Firemaking burning 200+ logs - Fletching 336 of the various bows
Here, we'd just be cutting the totals to under 100. That way, even the prepwork for Ironmen isn't so intensive.
Tradeoffs are that players would get reduced reward XP and reduced items in the baggy from the challenge mistress.
Suggestion 2: remove group minigames from dailies or rework it so players can choose which skill related minigame they can do We're going to see it with Dungeoneering where now you can do a Floor (complexity 6), an Elite dungeon (non story mode), or a Perfect run in Shifting Tombs.
- Runecrafting would either remove GOP + Stealing Creation, or allow P2P to (in a single option) Play a round of GOP, Stealing Creation, or the Rune Goldberg Machine (could also toss in save a Wizard in Runespan) - Construction either sees removal of SC, or replacing SC with Play a round of SC or Shifting Tombs or Troll Invasion (defend against the Trolls in the skiller mode) - Cooking removes SC, or replaces it with Play a Round of SC or deliver an Order for the Gnome Restaurant You get the idea for the rest
Added another suggestion for Warbands: - monthly D&D (use reset token) - most mechanics don't change, but can loot Wand of Treachery more often, add Archon and Warlord outfits as bonus drops - loot all 3 warband camps (so essentially 3 x at one time per month, rather than once every 7 hrs) - now instanced as solo (same locations, only you see the camps and inhabitants)
Just posted another idea on Reddit: Wild Jade Vine Rework
Wild Jade vine is another one of those activities on a bizarre schedule (~ 19 hrs of growth time for 1500 Farming XP, some Slayer XP, and token Woodcutting XP)
Suggestion to rework now gives players 2 options: Combat/Slayer and Skiller.
Either option, it now becomes a monthly D&D, resettable with Monthly token and there will now be a Combat/Skiller toggle for the activity (similar to Troll Invasion). Horacio will no longer fight the Vine for you.
At first of month, after monthly reset, player gains ability to fight Wild Jade Vine
Wild Jade Vine is buffed in Health and Damage Output (fight is longer, somewhat comparable to Skeletal Horror)
Reward is now given as Large XP Lamp of XP in Slayer, Large XP Lamp in Farming, and Small XP Lamp in Woodcutting
Player still needs to replant seed after fighting.
Player needs to spend 5 minutes using woodcutting and pruning animations to chop it down. (similar to chopping Elder Tree or Evil Tree)
Player is awarded Large Star of BXP in Farming and Medium Star of BXP in Slayer and Woodcutting each.
Skiller needs to replant seed to reset cycle.

Blackwingsaid: Deltaslugsaid: You guys got any targeted/specific "dailyscape" things you'd like to see improved? Got ideas on the ways devs can improve it?
No thanks, you can't bump suggestions there and if the people browsing the "new" section dislike your suggestion (or you), they can downvote your suggestion so that it won't gain enough traction to reach the hot section, where the real population is. Forums are more suitable and neutral for suggestions, at least when the jmods actually read them (which will never change if everyone just goes to Reddit).
Go to the Runescape Reddit. Look up my user name, same there as it is here. You'll see a few suggestions. Look over my own post log here. Go back to pages 6, 7, and 8 of this thread. I've even added them here.
I have been trying.
Blackwing thinks he's the expert. Fine. I'd like to see his suggestions out to the public.

Part of the issue is I don't know what else to suggest atm since I'm not entirely sure where people see other problems in "dailyscape" besides some of the obvious:
- Jagex isn't going to do much about MTX related events. I just don't see that happening.
- Daily challenges ... sure some could be reduced/nerfed in terms of what you need to commit to doing (no 200+ challenges) but IDK what would need to be specifically modified or if the whole daily challenge system needs rework (which becomes a whole other project)
- Shop runs can be partially solved by linking like minded shops (ie: Fish Shops, Rune Shops). Something can be said for a larger overhaul of shops though (ie: removing unused items like Newcomer Map, making all shops "general stores", removing shop stocks that are 0 or making all shops have a base stock of 1). But again, that becomes something outside of scope for "dailyscape"
- Player Owned Ports and Kingdom are rewarding enough in their own ways and don't take much time to manage. Player Owned Farms is a major Farming training method now, so probably more worth while to do than other "dailies"
I guess when it comes back to dailyscape ... does allowing variety for an option to complete daily challenges count? That way you're not pigeon holed to a single thing .........just like the Dilbert said with the recent update ... now being able to do Dung Floor, Elite Dungeon, or a Shifting Tomb (too bad they didn't include a sinkhole) into what you can do for the Dungeoneering Daily.
Blackwing, I'm not sure if it has been lost in all the posts or something ... but could you just go ahead and give us the full list of what YOU consider to be "dailyscape"? Each of the activities and such. Bullet pointed. No sarcasm.
I want to see what you call out in a clear format.
The other part of why I'm wanting a good clean list is that I'm a Hardware QE in real life. I've also worked closely for a long time with software devs.
Just telling them that there is an issue isn't enough. You need to tell them HOW something is broke. What features and such within the product is not working properly or within the scope of what you wanted.
By giving them a highly generic description, they can't get down to the root of what you consider to be at fault.

On the Sandstone/Crystal Flecked. A guys suggested an Invention Machine on it. Basically 1 device per Sandstone spot. *something something* method to deposit in bank. Get ore, no XP.
On the task rewards, like I suggested before, there could be a centralized location for that. Afterall, when you complete the elite version of each task set, it is annoying to have to still keep going around. Wouldn't the npcs in the area be in enough awe of you to say "ya know what [player], I'll just ship it to you 'cuz you're just that [adjective]"?
As I suggested on the Daily Challenge, I'm sure you want 100% removal. Personally, I'd start with a reduction on required length of some of the tasks (ie: 300+ bows).
Most of the rest, I'm not entirely sure how to approach. We already know Jagex won't touch the daily keys. MTX is MTX and that has been a virtual no go for "removal".
Not everyone does Soul Reaper. Not every does the Serenity Posts. (need to access Priff first of all.) It's comparable to rep gain activities in Menaphos. (ie: isn't the Soul Obelisk a decent way to train Prayer/Div/RC? Squishing corrupt scarabs for the quick chunks of Slayer XP?)
Raffle is up for discussion atm on Reddit as well. With enough community support ... might get it nerfed or removed.
No. Pretty sure a good portion of it is that I'm not a big enough name to garner interest in the discussion. Bigger portion of it is likely the way I tried to communicate it. Even with English being my first (and only) language ... I can have some difficulty getting across the message I'm trying to convey.
I'll often joke in all seriousness that I'm difficult to understand, but not hard to figure out.
Sadly, that's kinda like what it feels like to get something going for how to reduce dailyscape.
