The Song of Seren weekend looks like an activity weekend at first, but it's pretty much a bonus xp weekend with some restrictions on when you train what. I don't really mind, but I'm a bit surprised. :P

Essentially, yeah, it's just another dailyscape event. Jagex knows that if it allowed people to play voluntarily when they want, without feeling pressured by missing out on temporarily available rewards/bonuses, the player counter would drop even lower than it already is.

If only we could freely choose when and what content to play, without manipulation like that, by keeping temporary events to a minimum and making them quality over quantity. :P

Sounds like there's a lore reason though, which I'm curious about.

Sure, but just how meaningful is the lore aspect here, really? Sometimes lore is quickly made up just for convenience's sake, which seems to be the case here IMO, given how the emphasis is greatly on the bonuses in that news post and how Jagex has come up with so many various bonus weekends before.

It's entirely possible that it's a lead in to an Elder God quest or two that we're still missing for post-Endgame story continuation.

Having XP events based on lore like this is a lot better than the random double xp weekends we currently get. The problem isn't this event itself, it's that we already have way too many xp promotions.

If events like these were set to replace double xp weekends, then that would be a welcome change. As things are, however, it just feels like another handout.

This is not going to be exactly a bonus xp weekend.

First, the bonus xp will be only time based, not throughout the entire weekend. Second, there will also be bonus perks, not just xp.

Regarding the lore and story of this new weekend event, it pretty much like this is going to be a big event that shows even Seren and the elves are going to change their no conflicts, anti war stance. I think this will be the elves' call to arms. Seren is pushing the elves from the corner of the western world to the main stream community in Burthrope.
