Danger, Zona! (F2P Bottle Quest)

• Difficulty: Intermediate
• Length: Very Long
• Availability: Free

Description:
Help your 12-year-old cousin* Zona in Ashdale gather information for a report for school. Only everything isn't going as planned... Discover some things about your own family as you chase after a force that will shake up the 6th age.

!!!Sequel Starts on Page 2 Post 8!!!

Requirements:
(F2P)

• Demon Slayer
• Shadow Over Ashdale
• Rune Mysteries
• Lv20 Magic
• Lv5 Hunter
• Able to defeat a level 80 foe (with help)

• Level 20 Smithing will be an advantage

Items:

• 3x Mind Talisman
• 3x Body Talisman
• 3x Silver Bar
• 3x Ashes
• Food

*[Edit] Note:
I well that a lot of people don't want the player to have a family because it would break the immersion, however there are a lot of players that do want the player to have a canon backstory. I'm hoping to reach a compromise here by introducing the player's extended family.
Alternatively:
there could be a confirmation that would let the player choose whether these people were indeed the player's relatives. If the player said 'No', it would change the dialog slightly.

Note to Jagex:
If you decide to use this quest, many of the plot points and requirements are flexible. The main purpose for this quest is to introduce Xeric in a way that is personal for the player, and compatible with the 6th age.

Final Note: just because my last post was months ago, don't think that this thread is abandoned--in fact the opposite is true. I'm always looking for feedback, and there is more to the story planned... (4 more quests in fact, but I need more feedback on what I have so I can fine tune them)

To start:
talk to your aunt. Your aunt tells you that your cousin Zona needs help doing research for a report on the hero Camorra for school. Zona (age 12) is too young to go to the mainland on her own. Reluctantly agree to help to start the quest. (Your aunt calls it "one small favour";))

(1) Speak with Zona
in your aunt's house and go through all of the options: learn about Zona's report and what she intends to do.
(Just gather data--nothing too hard right?)

(2) Travel to Taverly
by ship. Note that you cannot teleport with Zona following you.

(3)
First stop is outside the Hero's guild.
Speak with Achietties
, and Zona will start to talk to her: if you haven't completed Hero's Quest, Achietties will be rather cold and tell you to go away as she is busy. If you have, Achietties will be a bit warmer and mention that she doesn't know much about history, but that Camorra went to the continent to the west. Either way, this is not enough information, so your character will suggest that you go the Varrock Library.

Since you can't teleport with Zona, you have to
walk to Varrock library
. Allow Zona to talk to Reldo. This is much more successful: read the books as Zona copies the information down: and when you're done, Zona will ask Reldo about what happened to Camorra later in life, and get told that she founded a kingdom on the continent to the west. Reldo then sends you two to the Varrock Museum.

(5) Go to the Varrock Museum and talk to Mr. Mordaut
beneath the stairs: you and Zona get a little more information about Camorra, specifically her fight with Garak, but nothing about the continent to the west.

Rumble in the Museum:
(6) Upon going back up the stairs
and there will be a cutscene where what appears to be a drunk is going around causing trouble, smashing the glass cases and the like. Quickly restrain the man, but he breaks free and attacks you. (He is Lv25, so lower-leveled players should bring armor and a weapon) Now speak with the curator and go through all of the options:

[what you say] >> [abbreviated curator reply]
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
[are you alright?] >> [I'm unhurt]
[was he drinking?] >> [didn't see any alcohol]
[how are the artifacts] >> [only seemed to be interested in smashing the cases]
[do you know him] >> [no]

Once you go through all of the options, the following appears:
[Was someone controlling him] >> [Don't know, but why would anyone attack a museum?]

At this point, the man stands up and screams to "stop the voices", then begs the player to kill him. Gypsy Aris appears and casts a binding spell on the man, which causes him to pass out. Gypsy Aris then invites you back to her tent.

(7) Talk to Gypsy Aris
about the incident. You find out that the incident was not isolated, and that similar incidents have been popping up across the continent. Your character remembers what happened in the tutorial with Morwenna the Cruel, so Gypsy Aris sends you to talk to Gudrik.

(8) Visit Gudrik
in his house in Taverly and find that he has been beaten unconscious. Your character will prompt you to get help: go talk to the Taverly banker, and then go back to Gudrik's house: Investigate the house, and then
start tracking the footprints.

(9)
The footprints will lead you past Nails Newton, who identifies the target as one of the pompous merchants. Keep tracking the footprints to the Taverly God Statue where you get a cutscene of the merchant, mumbling incoherently, preparing to attack Copernicus Glyph. Intercept him and defeat him (he is level 15), and then question him. If you have the Ring of Charos(a), you can try to charm him, but it doesn't work, and either way, this man falls dead. There will be a cutscene of the Burthorpe Guard moving in to section off the area, and your character will prompt you to go back to Gypsy Aris.

(10) Return to Gypsy Aris
, and this time Gypsy Aris tells you that she has foreseen something similar at the Wizards' tower, and asks you to see if you can capture him alive. Before you leave, she also gives you a list of things to make talismans to locate whomever is controlling these people.

Each control talisman requires the following.
(You will need at 3 of each)

• Mind Talisman
• Body Talisman
• Ashes
• Silver Bar

(11) Upon arrival at the Wizards' Tower
everything will be calm. But as you walk into the tower, someone will run past you flailing and going crazy and start breaking things. He'll have a 'tackle' option on him, but you won't be able to catch him until you have bound him (use the "Bind" spell), and then talk to the man who is acting schizophrenic. Wizard Selidor will come down and hold the man down with magic, leaving you to go report back to Gypsy Aris.

(12) Return to Gypsy Aris
and give her the items to obtain the three control talismans and a magic compass. Travel to the three controlled men and use a talisman with each one. Each time you do, the talisman will be consumed and your quest journal will obtain the man's coordinates and the direction that the talisman pulled in. (Note the talismans will always pull to the south-west)

(13) Now that you have all of the data, go back to Gypsy Aris and Zona.
. Gypsy Aris will be confused by the results as they point to members-only lands and you're on a free-to-play quest. Your character will ask about a free-to-play land in the south-west and Zona explains that's Ashdale! Gypsy Aris will offer to teleport both of you to Taverly.

(14) Not a coincidence!
Return to Ashdale with Zona
, and return to the start point of the quest. Both your aunt and uncle will be lying on the ground dead, and Zona will start shaking, and run out into the street. Get a weapon and armor before following Zona.

(15) Walk after Zona
and you will see her find her teacher and be comforted a little bit. Talk to Zona's teacher and go through all of the options about the project and the death of your aunt and uncle. As you go through the options:
[Why Camorra]
[Strange Deaths]
[Credentials and Background]

Zona will start to get nervous and back away from her teacher.

[Continent to the West] now appears, and upon asking about it, Zona's teacher realizes that you know too much, and tries to grab Zona, but at your character's call, Zona's throws herself out of her teacher's grasp. Now fight your cousin's teacher, he is level 40.

(16) The Controller:
Zona's teacher will die
, and your character will tell Zona not to get close (saying that something seems off). Zona's teacher will then get up, saying it's a smart call. Zona's teacher is dead, but someone is controlling his body, who says that his minion made a mistake in challenging you. Talk to the person controlling Zona's teacher's corpse, and go through all of the options.
[Why Camorra]
[Strange Deaths]
(and more)

The person controlling Zona's teacher's corpse will dodge all of your questions, and then claim to have grown weary and try to attack you. Zona's teacher's corpse is level 60. Once you kill him again, pick up the orb he drops. Then take Zona and return to Varrock via the ship to Taverly.

(17) On the docks of Taverly, your character will ponder arming Zona
. (She can use any equipment level 30 or below). Higher level equipment will make Zona more useful in the upcoming fight.

(18) Speak with Gypsy Aris
and give her the orb, Gypsy Aris will gasp, recognizing the orb, but before she can say anything
she will become possessed and attack you.
Possessed Gypsy Aris is Level 80, and her life points scale to the player's combat level up to level 80 (if the player is above level 80, at level 80 she has 10K life points), but all of her other stats are constant. Zona will help with this fight, but being a 12-year-old girl she isn't that strong (she hits low but extremely consistently).
As Gypsy Aris reaches low health, Zona will break the orb controlling her.

(19) Gypsy Aris may be free of the control, but she's injured.
Zona will stay with her until you bring food to heal Gypsy Aris. You need to bring enough food to heal Gypsy Aris to half health, the amount varies depending on how many life points she had initially.

(20) Talk to Gypsy Aris again
, and Gypsy Aris will put the whole adventure together, identifying the mysterious person as Xeric, the banished emperor of Kourend on Zeah. Zona will stay with Gypsy Aris to train as a Gypsy.
(she doesn't want to be an adventurer–it's not for everybody apparently)
