Right-click reporting is not essential, as the reporting system still works without it.

But nowhere near as efficiently in crowded areas - being able to right-click names in the chat interface would make reporting there MUCH easier.

It was delegated to everyone, but I think we cannot demand it to be restored if it really is taken away from us deliberately by Jagex for one reason or another. It is a privilege, it is out of line to demand for a privilege.

Since we don't know whether its removal was intended or accidental, or the reasons for the removal if it was intentional, it is entirely appropriate to ask for a reinstatement.

Why be elitist and say it has to be restricted to pmods, when many players already have this ability enabled? As I said above - the ability to enable this feature has been removed - not the feature itself.

Archaeox, we go back to the principle of non-essentiality. The original setup was no right-click reporting, it was delegated to the public as a privilege. If such privilege is removed, then we have no say about it. Right-click reporting is non-essential from the standpoint of playing Runescape in the general sense, as reporting in itself is just optional. Jagex never intended players to get out of their way to report all the rulebreaking they witness all the time, that is not the intention of the report system: it is optional.

Though, if the thread just seeks an explanation, maybe I'll be able to summon a Jmod here for them to speak for themselves.

As far as Iím aware, Jagex removed the ability to set that a few years ago for all players. Those that had it set kept it, but everyone else could no longer set it.

You can still use the report an issue button in your chat box, select to report a player, and select the line of chat belonging to the player you wish to report from the next dialog that appears. Going that way is likely a way of guaranteeing more accurate reports, as the dialog where you select the playerís line of chat does not continue to scroll as the chat box does, which could lead to right clicking the wrong playerís line of chat.

With the ignore function and the various anti-macro/bot technologies Jagex uses, you could argue that all reporting is non-essential. That's a silly approach.

In any case, you are missing the point - the 'privilege', as you call it, has not been removed. Many regular players, like myself, still have it. What has been removed is the ability for other players to enable this option.

An explanation about this unannounced change, which I think happened some time ago, would certainly be helpful to the community.

Didn't know this, but the right click reporting can be easy for example private message advertisers.

Reporting with the long way is just too much work to set up a report.

Arch, the title of the game is RuneScape and not ReportScape, hence my position on the issue that right-click reporting is non-essential for a non-pmod. It was a privilege, which Jagex may have taken away, for one reason or another. Jagex want people to not go out of their way reporting others, reporting is 100% optional, 100% voluntary.

However, I can understand why people may demand for an official explanation. All you guys need is to wait if a Jmod will answer on this thread, as I gave them the heads-up.

RuneScape has been in existence for more than a decade without regular accounts having a right-click report. If you think that it is a huge hassle to report, then do not report. With so many people that may encounter the troublesome player, there is a good chance that he was already reported by others prior to you anyway.

Reporting is there as an option, but do not feel you are obligated to report. This is my last post on this thread, as the only thing missing is a Jmod explanation, I cannot guarantee a Jmod will come here, but I am trying to summon one.
