There was always something that bothered me regarding Armadyl.

Note: This isn't meant to bash or start a flame war or anything. it's just my thoughts about it and i would like to share it, beause i believe it's worth talking about.

How come he get's to be praised for being a noble, good and sympathy god?

One needs to look probably better at his history. How many crimes did he did? Well, maybe not reall crime crimes, but figurally speaking of course.

I'm gonna list the things he has done wrong, perhaps not to your eyes, but they are to me.

1 Creating the godsword.

We all know Arma was responsible for the creating of the weapon. Meant to kill Zamorak. Without even knowing what he was all about until the end of the wars (i'll talk about that later on). Tell me, why? Why would you make a weapon when you got a elder staff, that seems to be clearly more effective in offense and defense from what we know.

He also planned to give it to Saradomin, talking about aplying more salt to the injury.
Not to mention how it all backfired in the end.

On another note: Why even lock the staff in a temple? Why even relock it into the same temple when it was stolen the first time? Just hold on to it and use it when necessary. Even he was planning the same thing with the Soj...

When you plan to give the stone to Arma
S:How pointless. What will he do with it? Run screaming from it because it might be bad?
S:Sit on it and try to hatch it?
S:....
S:That's a disturbing mental image. I wish I hadn't mentioned it now.

^ Threw it here because i find it amusing, but, might be all true too.

2 Allying with someone like Bandos.

Does that one even need to be explained? come on. One who seeks to lay waste on every world or someone who uses chaos as a means for improvement, who's the worst here?

3 Blaming Zamorak for his own stupidity.

A:Murderer, how dare you show your face here!

Z: You dare slander me with that title, god slayer? You who decapitated Bandos and encouraged a war across all of Gielinor to do so?

A:That was different. You murdered almost an entire species. Your attack on Forinthry...

Z:Ha! You speak as though I had a choice. You and Saradomin stood beside one another ready to pronounce my death sentence. I only did what I did as a last resort.

A:We could have been reasoned with. We would have listened. We would have accepted a graceful surrender.

Z:You...perhaps. You still cling to the mortality of mortals, perhaps trying to convince yourself you are one. But not him. Not Saradomin. He had my death sentence pronounced from the moment our war began. He cannot stand that my message is as powerful as his. That freedom can be just as powerful as his mindless dogma.

A:That does not excuse what you did. To save your life, you took thousands of lives. You nearly destroyed my entire race.

Z:Bah, there were others. You had an entire world of them.

A:There were precious few that remained behind on Abbinah, the rest were here, on Gielnor for your war.

Z:Your war. I am not the only participant of the god wars. It was you who brought so many of your race here, as warriors, to fight. Do not blame me for their deaths. It was war and in war people die. If you were not prepared for that, you should not have endangered your people. What did you expect? Did you expect to roll over my forces without a single casualty?

A:No of course not... I...

Z:Then you were prepared. Prepared to sacrifice every aviansie you brought to Gielinor and you did sacrifice them. You won and you paid the price for that victory.

A:That does not excuse what you did.

Z:No, and I would never pretend that I did. I wear my cruelties with pride. I have done things that some would consider reprehensible, but I have done them for the greater good. I... have made mistakes. I have seen those that I care about die...but I have owned those mistakes. It is time you did too. You are not angry at me...

A: Oh I assure you that I am.

Z: Fine! You are not only angry at me. You just won't admit who you are really angry with, who you really blame for all their deaths.

A: Oh? And who am I really angry at?

Z:Yourself. You brought them to this world. You armed them with swords and spears and sent them out to face my forces. You asked each and every one of them to die. To die FOR YOU. You're angry because they did. Because in you arrogance you thought that you were untouchable and your people invulnerable. Pride can be a terribly powerful weapon, but the blade always points inwards.

A:*Sigh* You might be right. I do blame myself and rightly so. But I am never going to forgive you Zamorak. I won't strike you down today, but I will not mourn if another does it for me.

Z:I would have it no other way.

I'm glad someone said it.
It was Arma his own fault, yeah, i'm not gonna let Zimzam of the hook either, but this isn't about him.
Armadyl talks that a peaceful solution could be achieved, but i remember very well during the cutscene from the Soj from Dat that wasn't the case. Both Bandos and Sara wouldn't have allowed it, explain that one to me? No really, explain it to me.

4 Witholding the truth.

A part from Zemouregal's memory.

They say that Zamorak was banished by the other gods for daring to strike down one of their number, but this is a lie put about by the minions of Saradomin and Armadyl.

So, What? Allowing a false rumor to be spread so you can what, strengthen your bondness with someone you call a friend and ally? The gods know about it but did nothing to correct it, what nonsense is that?

6 Unjustice he'll serve.

A: Gentlemen please, there is a time and a place for this argument and neither of them are now.

*Zammy teleports at the eclipse*

A: On second thoughts if we're going to unleash our rage somewhere, I think the perfect target has just dropped in.

Z: Try it. It's been so long since I've had the pleasure of watching an avianse burn.

A: I'LL KILL YOU!

See? What kind of justice is that? Shouldn't we all be killed for the body's we piled? the damage we caused, whatever good or bad?

Asking his opinion about Zamorak.
A: I can never forgive Zamorak for his actions at Forinthry. He was cornered, yes, but there was no need for such soulless destruction. On that day I lost so many people...my friends...because he wanted one last chance to hurt people. Justice is needed, but I must take care not to confuse justice with vengeance. A fine line, that is never easy to walk.

He's right. It isn't a easy line to walk, and he will not serve justice, only vengeance, when it's his own feelings that are hurt.
As much he shown when he smashed Bandos already (dead)stone head.

Arma may think he's about the law and justice or equality, but in the end i can see his flaws, more so then he him self ever does.

So there we have it readers. The truth.
Tell me, does it all still make Arma a Goody good shoes? You can argue he's still better then the likes of Zaros, Zammy and Bandos, perhaps.
But just because you have a morally high ground, doesn't excuse you from the bad things you do and say. In many cultures they might agree with me, but don't quote me on that.

All i'm saying is; you may talk good and act good, but your actions are the ones who trully speak. And at the end, they will always be interpreted by the eyes of another.

Another note. Thats all i got to say and can think about it for right now.

I can see you favor Zamorak over Bandos.

Favor, serve, support, all the same to me. I see value in Bandos his ways, but the rhino himself is a problem with issues.

Nice view, but a few things i wanna point out:

1. The rumors his followers spread shouldn't be blamed on him. YES he could have prevented it, but how could he when he is busy doing other Godly stuff? But I do agree that if he wasn't busy, and did get word about the rumor, he could have prevented it. But he maybe was letting his followers have free well? who knows.

2. You missed Seren's statement as well, about how Armadyl shot his weapon at Bandos first without it being a threat to him or anyone else. Going against his own philosophy.

He is still better than Saradomin in my opinion. But Saradomin is better for being a human, knowing there are sacrefices to be made. Over all great statement.

No fan of Armadyl, though let's be fair...hypocrisy seems to be the flaw of the Gods. Armadyl is trigger happy and vengeful, Saradomin is a violent loose cannon, Bandos is a cowardly wimp, and Zamorak is an organized pushover. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

Perhaps, but i don't buy it, that they were busy and all. They are nothing but big talking yapping ego fuelled batteries, but correcting or doing one tiny little thing seems to be to much.
But really, what is it the gods do, day in day out? No one really knows.

Although i think i remember a quote from a Jmod about it something of "gods knew about it, but never correct it because it helped there alliance more" or something like that.
Could be wrong, correct me if must.

The irony in it is, the World Guardian is pretty much in the same boat. From a certain point of view, that is.
