How to remaster Cursed Energy


Make Cursed Memories stackable


Reasoning:
This frees up gatherer's inventories, which allows them to bring food and combat equipment, enabling them to fight back. This is real PVP, instead of PKer VS skiller.



The two ideas below are based on Deltaslug's suggestions on page 8 and 9.

Restrict Cursed Gathering to fewer* worlds (maybe 10 for p2p and 6 for f2p)


Reasoning:
This will stop bots from being scattered on every world and funnel them to the chopping block for PKers. It will also create more PVP battles, which will be interesting since now gatherers have the ability to fight back effectively!


Put a daily cap on the amount of cursed energy that a free player can gather, based on total level. PKing energy remains unrestricted.


Reasoning:
Cursed bots are a bigger problem on f2p worlds. Bots typically have a low total level. This will hinder their gathering capabilities significantly.

This post has been largely based on Hyouhaku's suggestions on page 13.

Add a quest, miniquest, or achievement which will restore the normal function of the wilderness levels for the player while cursed gathering. This benefit will be enabled by wearing a reclaimable reward item which is always lost on death - for example: a "blessed insignia". (Eg a level 138 will no longer be able to attack a level 3 that is wearing a blessed insignia whilst harvesting cursed wisps).

Reasoning:
There is no point for a low level to oppose maxed mains, when they cannot win. It is currently unfair and combat level diversity has been destroyed.
The blessed insignia will be lengthy or difficult enough to obtain, that cursed energy bot farming will remain more efficient to keep creating new accounts when banned, yet enable legitimate low level players to play the content without being unfairly disadvantaged.

The "curse" which the player receives by having cursed energy will be taken from the item and applied as a 10 minute debuff, given when interacting with a cursed spring (and refreshed with every interaction). A purple skull will be placed above each player's head who have the cursed spring debuff.


Reasoning:
This will prevent max level PKers from picking off every single low level PKer. Combat level diversity will be restored. It will again be worthwhile to bring your unique account builds, or low level mains to the crater. Additional benefits: Players will no longer be able to drop cursed energy in order to be instantly cured, as the curse is not tied to the item, but the gathering of the item. Similarly, scams can no longer exist which exploit trade and drop-trade mechanics, by giving an unsuspecting player cursed energy, making them teleblocked and vulnerable to all PKers.

When you are "cursed": you cannot log out, you can't teleport and you can be attacked by anyone, unless you are wearing the blessed insignia in which case only players near your combat level will be able to attack you.

The curse cannot expire in combat (if your curse debuff has only 1 second remaining and you are attacked, it will not wear off until you are out of combat).
Leaving the wilderness will remove the curse.


Perhaps the cursed overhead icon can be a purple energy symbol, and change to a purple skull if they are also skulled.

Additionally, I think that gathering should start slow, then progress significantly. (Maybe gathering could speed up based on how long you've had the curse debuff without banking or dying). Starting at 50% the current speed, after 10 minutes, it becomes the current speed, then after 30 minutes being cursed, it becomes 120% speed.

Since bots will now be more likely to be spam killed than ever before, they will rarely last longer than 10 minutes before being killed, which means their effectiveness is effectively halved. Players will now have the advantage.

I have now changed the cursed energy solution to a much more simple one, combining and tweaking much of the community feedback I've accumulated with some of my ideas.

Perhaps captchas can still be used in the bot busting process, such as:

Best solution:
Get rid of the bots. No negatives. Currently, not possible.

Jagex's current solution:
Allow everyone to attack a player with cursed energy in their inventory. Positives - it does largely reduce the speed that bots can gather cursed energy. Negatives - this harms low leveled players, as they cannot compete with maxed mains. This destroys combat level diversity and ruins the pking experience for anyone who isn't a maxed main. Unfair.
Also, mains can boost their wilderness kill counts on opponents that are not really worthy to award kill count, giving a poor reflection on how good they really are at pvp. Having lots of wilderness kill count really means nothing... unfortunately (mostly kills from level 3 bots).
Our new proposed solution will hit bots harder, while also maintaining fairness for players of all combat levels.

* when a player is killed, the pker can loot not only the cursed energy, but the stacked cursed memories too.

There could be another interesting mechanic where you can't leave the wilderness if you have cursed memories and they can't be banked. This means that the player that killed you will need to either convert the memories himself or abandon them. This gives the gatherer a chance to come after the pker with a vengeance ;) or at least, run back to reclaim his energy.

This is a very good idea. My only concern is the five-minute cooldown for pickpocketing each individual; I recommend that a shorter cooldown, such as two to three minutes, be considered. Otherwise, I support the idea of pickpocketing and stacking cursed energy and memories.

Pretty certain porters won't work here.
This is what people aren't getting. Some ******* "coder" releases OSBuddy or some other "helper client", people get hyped because they're stupid like sheep, and then down the road once the "helper client" has a ton of downloads he releases an "update" to hijack everyone.
