Been a long time since I've seen these forums, and it's good to be back.
I'll try and keep it short.

This account is old (made in 2007) and with mobile out I've finally come back to this magical world.
I've always loved runescape, and I've always loved the community.
I'll be honest and say that it's been a goal of mine to make it as a player moderator, just so that the community knows I'm here to help and trustworthy. It's been over 10 years and not looking likely, but I'm still hopeful I'll somehow be noticed in my want to help.

My question is about the username.
As I've said, this account is old with an old username that I'm worried might be taken offensively. The name was never intended to do so. I never meant offense to anyone.
I'm basically wondering if the name somehow stifles any chance of becoming one.
I'd be more than happy to change it to something else, if necessary.

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Good to be back.
You all have a great one, everyone.

I do not believe that your particular username would have any influence in whether you get player moderator status or not. As far as I am aware, if your name is cleared for use, then it's seen as acceptable. Offensive usernames will typically be denied upfront. I could be wrong, but I think you're alright. :P

If you haven't been asked by Jagex to change it, then it's safe to say that they haven't found it to be against the rules. Personally, I do not see an issue with it. It's simply a name. You've had it for 11 years and if there hasn't been an issue, I wholeheartedly believe none will arise.

As for Player Moderators, you may want to read this: Player Moderators

Awesome, thanks for your quick replies.

I'm very glad to hear it's not taken offensively.
I just hope, if it came down to it, Jagex would let me know.
I suppose we'll see.

I have already, of course, read up on as much information I could find on moderators.

I know it's unlikely. Very unlikely.
And I know that it isn't necessary in order for me to be an avid part of the community.

I'll hope for the chance to come, anyway.

I think quite a lot of people secretly wish to be given PMod status, but all you can do is cast it out of your mind and keep doing what you're doing, treat others as you'd want to be treated, and be an active and positive influence in the community. :)

Don't worry about the name, if Jagex finds it offensive, they'll reset it and you can change it to anything you wish.

They enforce a one year cooldown on name changing only if you set an offensive name multiple times.
whoever is humming the jaws theme is gonna get slapped

I see no offense with your current display name, so just carry-on:). Besides, if your name is offensive, the quickest way for it to be 'corrected' is becoming visible here in RSOF by posting a thread.;)

As the forum moderator has stated, the quickest way to get a free name change is to post in the forums.

P.S. You should set your title as "of the Godless" on RS3 ;)
