So simply this rate has been rising I remember when these style events started we were given the option to buy coins or grind out I believe originally 1000 event tokens a day to earn all the rewards. Then it turned to the method of 14 days to earn 20k total tokens.....okay not the end of the world its around 1300ish a day no biggy.

Now however with this update and new event in the same style we have 2 new rewards to aim for minus the mystery boxes AND we have 15k tokens to earn in 7 DAYS. meaning all in all the "option" of speeding up the tokens buy using runecoins is beginning to look less of an option and more of a necessity when players need to grind out over 2000 tokens a day in a week.

Bad show Jagex for pushing the package just that bit further. Bad Show.

Yeah, it's the infamous "slow burn" tactic: by making the promotions worse slowly but surely, people get used to ever lower standards, up until Jagex hits a limit or proceeds too quickly for the people to notice what they're doing. Then, if enough many people reacted negatively, it's typical to take a step back and claim you're "listening to the feedback", before proceeding to continue the slow burn again, this time so that it doesn't progress too fast.

Basically the only way to avoid it and truly fix it is to not accept any MTX, because this event wouldn't have existed like this had it not been developed with MTX in mind.

the fact they put fully afk agil, herb, dung, rcing and hunter in here which is either expensive, or highly click intensive is not lost on me either as a probably very calculated move. Why complain when theres free afk xp in hard skills? Am I right?

They've also added in that additional tokens with purchases mechanic too.

At this point, I would be interested to know their statistics on microtransactions. Is that were most of their revenue comes from now? How many people actually buy into it? Is it just a small percentage (whales) like other games with exploitative business practices?

Also, how long will it actually take to get the required tokens this time round?

Probably shorter than the last one (15k tokens vs. 20k), but considering you only have half the time it's more effort per day.

I hadn't noticed the free tokens with purchase things oh how lovely of them sell us the solution to a problem they created, how generous of them.... As for the time it takes well seems to prox every minute average about 27 tokens so 270 in 10 mins, 2700 in 100 and therefore around 560 minutes or just under 10 hours in a week compared to before it was 12.3 hours in 2 weeks so a substantial jump up

It's actually worse than that - the last one was 14 days for 20k tokens but you also got 500 in 10minutes or less every day on top of the normal ones, making it effectively 14days for 13k tokens+7k bonus granted super fast from the 500/day. This one requires more than twice as many tokens to be gathered normally per day, making it slower than the last one even with the double bonus (which shouldn't be required to begin with!)

As if that wasn't enough it's a grind just to hand the tokens in just 5 at a time as well!

Just the thing for immediately after a grindy DXPW right? Honestly, when I logged in and saw the numbers for this event I felt sick, I can't handle this sort of excessive level of grinding straight after grinding a lot over the weekend (which was no doubt a lot less than many others did at that).
I've got a week off this week so in theory I could do it but I have zero motivation currently - only way it's happening is 100% afk grinding the event area while I watch a few entire series most likely. That sort of engagement just screams that it's terrible content with a senselessly excessive time requirement though. I swear there was backlash last time they did this and I fully expect there to be this time as well.

It'd be straight up impossible if I was working this week - simply would not have enough hours of free time to complete it, would struggle a ton even if I got the double currency as I normally only play for around 16 hours a week max including the weekend and a good chunk of that time is doing things that don't grant xp often enough (or at all) or don't count for event currencies like bloodwood&bakrimenal/div locations/etc.

PS: it's the same as previous times - ~25 every 3 minutes with the usual ±3 variance, daily challenges etc give the usual amounts too. This is ~500/hour. For 30 hours required in the 1 week for this one vs ~26hours (less actually, as event area boosted the rate by 20%, it doesn't this time) across 2 weeks for the last one.
