For those who have read the latest and greatest developer's blog on the Comp Cape Rework, Jagex has proposed to replace the entire Quest/MQC category under the current Achievement Cape category by the new Lore category. Say so long to Quest Cape/MQC and hello to Lore Cape???

My take is going forward, there will be a lot of lore based content released by ways of live events and regular game play other than Quests.

Not saying quests are going to be ignored (in fact we have 4 quests in the last 4 months and going to be 5 in 5 months soon), I believe non-quest kinds of lore based events like "Til Death Do Us Apart and mob dropped lore like the ED notes among other journals are going to be more visible and prominent to the prosperity of Gielinor in the future.

Lore > quests. Methink very good idea. Lorehound is probably wagging his tail now too. :):):)

I'm just wondering what will happen with perks of max cape since it will be made cosmetic. I don't want the tele to max guild option to be removed.

No. It won't. Read the developer blog. It shows we will not need to wear or have the max quest for Max Garden Teleport because it will become an unlock and be accessible by an option on other cape we are wearing once it is unlocked:

These rewards mainly fall into two categories, actives (like the Max Guild teleport) and passives (like Ava’s accumulator).
For actives: let’s say you have the Max Guild and Skeletal Horror teleports unlocked, but don’t have the Comp Cape. You’ll have those right-click teleport options on ANY cape you wear, instead of just the Comp Cape.
For passives: once you’ve acquired Ava’s Accumulator via the Animal Magnetism quest, you’ll unlock its passive ability permanently without needing to wear the alerter or anything specific in the cape slot. (In this example, we’d also have to change the 99 Ranged Cape perk too as that already gives this benefit).

Despite the whole 'not wanting to make people do content they don't want to do', it looks like a lot of lore is still going to be hidden behind boss combat.

I'll think mobs are going to drop a lot more love letters, hate notes kind of lore based stuff going forward too, but don't forget we can also fish them out of a bottle or get a chatty fire spirit or golden nymph to tell us their stories.

Creativity is unlimited. Nobody said only mobs have stories to tell, skilling related NPCs can too. :)

Personally I could see a non combat workaround for bosses that are connected to lore. It just depends on how feasible it would be to implement within Runescape based on how the game works.

Maybe have it work akin to searching for ancient books and/or individual pages or artifacts etc. hidden throughout the game world (or were relevant lorewise) that would explain whatever/however lore regarding bosses - rather than taking the easy way out and just making them drops of the respective boss; this is a rework afterall.

I hope that Jagex is going to through the rest of us mere mortals where PVM isn't as easy as some say it is a bone with this rework - making the comp cape more accessible, but not necessarily easy to get would go a long way in keeping old, existing players coming back/continuing to play rather than pleasing a minority that won't be around forever. It does look like they could depending on how they implement this whole tiered system IE. potentially reaching a certain number of achievement points through it or completing a certain number of individual tiers then unlocking the respective cape(s).

Deathtouched Darts and Story Mode are the workarounds already in place.

It's just a renamed category, nothing about that implies that shitty temporary content like
"Til Death Do Us Apart"
are going to get achievements added.

Shitty temporary content like the Summer Beach is involved in the Comp Cape too.

"Shitty" temporary content can also leave lore behind for those who don't participate in them to obtain and complete a lore achievement requirement too. Anything can happen. Only one needs to have the creativity to make it. :)

One should also realize Lore is not just a renamed category of Quest. The image of the new design shows the Lore category shows (251/274) items completed. Those are the number for the Completionist category but not just the Quest sub-category. This shows Lore is made up of items in all the current completionist category but not just quests.

I forgot about the darts (however that would be a lot of darts if it's not guaranteed drops) but is story mode applied to all/every PVM element of the comp reqs.? I have a feeling it's only for ED and maybe Solak (I've no idea) but the bulk of them don't have that option, no solid experience to know for sure.

I was thinking more along the lines of it actually being content added to the game world rather than the boss itself, so would act as a means of negating the PVM aspect while still providing a relevant way of obtaining the respective item(s).
