One of the biggest long term problems on the forums IMO has been that too many people lack the ability to take criticism; if someone so much as dares to not support their "perfect" idea (as becomes apparent of their behavior should someone not support), they're a troll for doing so. Thankfully, it seems not to be as prevalent of a problem currently as it used to be, but if a feature like this was implemented, it'd definitely get worse when they could start blocking criticism in their future threads.

BS, maybe sometimes, but not often. There are people out there that destroy the very essence of a thread because they don't' like the idea put forward, or they disagree with it and sometimes it's to do with who the thread owner is.

It's shocking that this happens time and time again, to so many threads. There are those that can disagree, not support in a kosher manner that isn't destroying a thread, that's not taking the essence out of a thread and kudos to you people, you are what makes the community worth staying for.

I don't think it's a good idea either but they're only suggesting it because the moderators are not taking care of these people in the first place.

Very well said!

They are not taking a strong enough stance towards these type posters and there is plenty of them,

Immortalized said:
yall can say the suggestion is bad, but it's only being suggested because fmods refuse to remove the individuals who derail and flame threads nonstop from the forums entirely

the only reason this suggestion exists is because op wants to protect their threads from being derailed/flamebaited which is really the fmod's job not op, and clearly not being done effectively

Yes, your words ring true in so many levels!

I don't believe pre-banning from a thread on the creators' behalf is a good idea. What I feel is moderators need to do their job properly, without judgment, without selection - this person here can do, this, this and that and some more of this and that, when this person can't do this or that - moderators are already and often target certain people, while others are not even picked up or chosen not to be picked up. I don't know if this is because they are there family: sister, bother, mother, father, children, cousin, aunt, uncle, grandparents, wife, husband, partner, ex, stepfamily, friends outside of the game, friends in game or what the reason is - but it needs to stop.

If you believe a mod isnt doing their job correctly, you should post on FMR.

No, they need to up their job, I've been there before with a situation and it didn't end well.

Edit: fixed spelling mistake it quoted post.

Yet being a mod isnt a "job".

They dont get paid to do this and its only because they choose to.

Thus they dont have to do anything you say.

They only have to listen to jagex and follow their rules.

If you are volunteering you still need to do a good job, and yes even volunteering is work, it's a job, you have taken on a roll for no payment - and it should be expected to be a good job, not a job to please friends and family.

Support there are ppl that have trolled my amazing threads almost every time they post and since fmods have a grudge against me and purposely wait the maximum time before working on my forum help requests this would be a great integrity fix to the forums that doesn't need to be polled.

Really, I never realized, sorry to hear this.

Draco Burnz is correct that FMR is the best course of action. if you follow the template and don't abuse FMR every time you disagree with an Fmod then you won't have any issues :)

I don't abuse FMR, I follow the template - don't state thing you know nothing of. I have treated FMR like everyone else, possibly in the past used it more, as I have had more need for it than the average person - doesn't make me abusive.

Since not going to FMR I don't' get banned - not a safe place unless you are liked, family, friends etc

They arent meant to be your friend they are only here to do whats req of them like everyone else.

Would love this. Support.

So would I but it's not practical sadly.

What I think should be added is a ignore button, so you can ignore certain posters <- this would be a win, win situation for the forums.

I don' know why Jagex won't give us ignore features for the forums, it would remove a lot of the negativity that happens - it makes me wonder if they enjoy it themselves??

Why won't Jagex give the ignore option a trial run?? Moderators would still need to remove troll posts, but I am sure a lot of negativity would be removed.

Maybe due to the fact its un-needed.

Just dont read the posts if the poster bothers you.

Unless it's a huge wall of text, you can read it by glance and you know it's there and you know it's hurtful, negative, trolling it's hard to skip.

I bet bringing in ignore a specific poster/s would be the best thing since sliced bread for these forums. It would be life changing for those that don't agree or support what does on around the forums on a near daily bases.

Yet I thought ppl wanted more ppl on here?

So plz tell me how ignoring ppl, thus pretty much lessening the amount you see, will attract more.

Having more gadgets such as an ignore button may bring in more posters. Jagex can give it a go, it certainly won't hurt the forums.

Yet see ppl only responding to select few might also do the opposite.

Let Jagex give it ago - I believe it would be beneficial for the forums. I really truely wish Jagex would add this to these forums.

Like how you havent explained once how you think this would help.

It's self explanatory - we wouldn't need to see the troll posts that are constantly left by the same individuals.

Yet everyones a troll to one person or another.

So if this were to happen, someone could have a thread where they respond to no one.

I doubt that very much.

Yes, we can all full under that category, but there are some posters that target certain individual threads, they don't stop, they troll threads to no end because they don't like the idea, they don't like the wording, they don't like the op - whatever the reason there are those that troll threads to no end.

If you know it's trolling for the sake of trolling then why let it get to you?

You need to experience what I have experienced in the past, I don believe it's gotten any better.

As this thread points out, it destroys threads, it takes the essence out of the thread. And it gets to you when it happens time and time again.

Whatever your experiences, it's never too late to learn to stop replying to flamebait.

Yes I know, but at times you don't see it coming until its too late. These people are very clever with what they do - they are certainly no match for me. And have moderators eating out of their hand.

Also it's more than flame-baiting destroying threads, often (for me anyway), it's large groups of people, alts, friends and.... It's draining, it just drains you.

well of course u think this, but i think that is not true. that sounds like evading a ban to me.

Proof that it isnt true?
well someone was banned and began posting on an alt, and a jmod banned the alt. so I consider this example as proof.

All three of my accounts were banned from the forum in one go, two didn't' even enter the forum. So yes it does happen or it did happen. I would love to go into this more, but I can't sadly.

I wish something could be done about those that disrupt thread, I don't agree with pre-ban from threads, but something needs to be done.
