Just looking to get some clarification.

Historically the Jagex website mentions that the lawcontact email is to be used only by law enforcement officers who can prove their identity.

The Contact Us page states:

Original message details are unavailable.
Government Agency

If you are a governmental Law Enforcement agency in need of further assistance then please use: lawcontact@jagex.com

Please be aware that this address is to be used ONLY if you are a bona fide law enforcement officer, and are able to provide proof as to your identity.

This email is not to be used to contact us regarding any other issue. If you choose to use this email address to contact us, but you are unable to provide us with proof as to your identity, we will be unable to respond to your email.

However, the Terms & Conditions state:

Original message details are unavailable.
3. Applicability of the terms and conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully. It is a condition of your use of a Jagex Product (whether or not you are a Subscriber) that you accept these terms and conditions in full. If you don't agree with any part, please do not use the Jagex Product.

If you have any questions about these terms and conditions, please contact us via email at lawcontact@Jagex.com and do not use the Jagex Product until you are satisfied with and can accept these terms and conditions in full.

The T&C were updated in May this year, so would I be right in assuming that the lawcontact email is now also open for those who have queries regarding the T&C? I'm just wondering if perhaps one of these pages is out of date?

Thanks!

I think they are going to ignore your email as they stated:

"If you have any questions about these terms and conditions, please contact us via email at lawcontact@Jagex.com and do not use the Jagex Product until you are satisfied with and can accept these terms and conditions in full."

Since (apparently) you have used their product(s) and therefore accepted these terms and conditions in full, you should not contact them for any issue related to terms and conditions. They have no obligation to respond to you.

That's what it meant to me. :)

That is a good question. I will raise this and see if I can get an answer.

If I were to take a guess...

I bet it's just a monitored e-mail that they manually handle requests with; no proper system to automatically redirect e-mails to the appropriate team. So they want them to just be used for T&C questions or just law-related?

Perhaps it's a legal team of one or two folks :D.

I think that email link is more like another layer of Jagex protection against certain players who try to break out of the Jagex EULA they signed, for instance, banned players, bots or 3rd party software operators etc.

Basically it further deprives any chance for banned players to use excuses like they are being "harassed" or the "EULA" is not clear to ask for an reinstatement. That rule and email link pretty much tell Jagex has given any potential new players the chance to ask questions on terms before using their product. However, once when they start using the product, they forfeit their rights to make any legal claims against Jagex.

I don't need to use the email myself but it would be good to know if we can now refer players with questions on the T&C to refer to said email without needing to be law enforcement officers. :)

I'll say "no", according to the language of that rule. You should only refer potential new players who have questions with the EULA to that email address, but not players who have already used any Jagex product.

For what its worth, this isn't a Web team issue but something for our Legal / Customer Support teams to decide.

I forwarded this onto Mod SteveW who's working with the Legal team to figure out a solution. Apologies for the confusion in the meantime.
